Elley Mae, I don't understand why you're concentrating on the type of gun that was used to massacre these people. Can you explain to me? I do not care at all about the type of gun; I care only about what happened.

I am not a gun person at all, but I care about the type of gun if it indicates there were others involved who helped him. That's my point of view with the weapons, though I'm sure other people have other interests in regards to the gun type.

Because I don't like it when the media makes up stuff that they are clueless on, all guns are different, because a gun is thought of as big or ugly it shouldn't be assumed that it is a banned weapon and also that it probably came from the usa. I like shooting guns and own a few, my husband teaches long range shooting, my daughter, (thirty something) :) can hit a 6 inch target at 1200 yards(over half a mile) Shooting is fun. jmo idk

Trying to understand what you are saying here. Are you saying he could have purchased an AK-47 with a firearms license?

NO, the ak47 is prohibited (banned) he had a restricted weapon which is legal to own with restrictions. canada uses prohibited the usa uses banned but they mean the same.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the explanations. I get it now.

[h=1]Witness arrested in Quebec mosque shooting isn't holding a grudge[/h]
[h=3]Mohamed Belkhadir doesn't blame police despite being held overnight as 1 of 2 initial suspects[/h]
Like the victims, Belkhadir was at the mosque for evening prayers. He had left the building and was clearing snow off the stairs outside when he heard the gunshots.

His instinct was to hide. When the noises stopped, he called 911, then he went inside the mosque to see if anyone was still alive.
"I found someone near the door," he told Radio-Canada. "I didn't know if he was dead or not. I saw another person who was breathing, and I gave him my coat. As I was doing that, I saw a person carrying a weapon."
Belkhadir thought it was the gunman, so he ran. He didn't know the person coming toward him was actually a Quebec City police officer.

The police ordered him to get down on the ground, and that's when he realized what was going on.

Despite everything that happened to him, Belkhadir says he isn't holding a grudge against the police.

"They were very nice to me," he said.

Ahh semantics.
Where was it reported the type of firearm he used? I thought the initial reports were that it was an AK-47

What is It with Every.Single.One of these mass shootings the past few years the initial reports have multiple masked shooters. The day after they are down to a lone wolf all by himself. It never fails...

Pay attention to the next one. It will be the same thing. Guaranteed!

Alexandre Bissonnette, 27, was charged in court on Monday with six counts of premeditated murder and five counts of attempted murder with a restricted weapon after Sunday evening's massacre at the Centre Culturel Islamique de Québec.

Police said he acted alone but did not release specific details of the weapon. RDI, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's French-language arm, cited sources as saying the gunman had a 9 mm handgun and a long gun, but the report did not provide further details.

The long gun could be anything. It will be interesting to see if it was modified at all. Also will be interesting to see how he got his hands on the 9mm. They are not easy to come by in this country.

I wonder if there is any way to profile these mass killers?

I wonder if there will be a domestic violence connection. Seems to be that domestic violence is present in these killers

Are we hearing anything about the twin brother? Sounds like they moved into the apartment near the mosque together....

  • #152
How do we know they have the right brother? What if one of them did the shooting and the other turned himself in? Maybe they thought they could pull something off by getting LE to charge the wrong guy?

(Wild speculation on my part as the poor brother likely has nothing at all to do with this. It sounds more like a movie plot.)

Most likely, gun shot residue.

I totally agree. I don't get it. Makes me scratch my head. A lot.

The gun jammed, police sources told Radio-Canada, prompting the shooter to leave and return with a nine-millimetre handgun.

Doctors removed an average of three to six bullets per shooting victim -- this is not a mark smith imo.

I really do not think he was good with guns? People on the ground praying seems like they would be easy targets. He missed a lot (thank god) the jams, media playing it like he moved to the apt to be close to the shooting (I dont buy that - moo) and then flees from the area.

So how they are trying to make it the apt has any bearing seems kinda out there to me.

He then confesses and awaits pickup by LE. It is starting to feel as if this was like close to a whim, as opposed to this big planned event.

Apparently he had been trolling for some time, and did not go murder any praying Muslims.

I think there is a correlation with the ban, as it relates to him being into Trump - his idol does all that stuff and the next day he is in there shooting at Muslims.

Kinda seems like the ban might have been a trigger for him.

Did not seem planned

He had two guns with him and leaves one outside? Runs out like he left his lights on -- I mean there is chaotic feel to the whole event??

It wasn't just Trump.

He “liked” U.S. President Donald Trump, the Parti Quebecois, the Israeli armed forces and Marine Le Pen, leader of the National Front in France. He also liked a page linked to former New Democrat leader Jack Layton.

Alexandre Bissonnette also developed a passion for guns as far back as his pre-teens, recalled one man who has lived across from the 27-year-old suspect’s childhood home for about three decades.

“Alexandre really liked guns,” said Bussieres, who added that his son told him Bissonnette had a gun when he was about 12 years old.

Bissonnette also belonged to chess clubs and had been an army cadet in the Quebec City area between 2002 and 2004.

He also studied at Laval University in political science, a subject he was keenly interested in.

He added that Bissonnette talked to him about his passion for hunting big animals like moose and bear.

A statement posted on a Facebook page welcoming refugees to Quebec City said that Bissonnette was known to several activists for his “pro-Le Pen and anti-feminist positions at Université Laval and on social media.”

Among the pages he “liked” were those of U.S. President Donald Trump, far-right French politician Marine Le Pen, the federal NDP and former NDP leader Jack Layton.

He also “liked” several different video games, chess clubs, musicians and organizations at Laval University.

The French-Canadian student charged in connection with a shooting spree that killed six people at a Quebec City mosque was a supporter Donald Trump and far-right French politician Marine Le Pen.

On his Facebook page, he indicated he liked Le Pen, US President Donald Trump, the separatist Parti Quebecois as well as Canada's left-wing New Democratic Party, the Israeli Defense Forces, heavy metal band Megadeth and pop star Katy Perry.

The Globe and Mail newspaper reported that Bissonnette’s social media profile and his friends “revealed little interest in extremist politics until last March, when France’s far-right National Front leader Marine Le Pen visited Quebec City, inspiring Mr. Bissonnette to vocal extreme online activism, according to people who clashed with him starting around this time”.

I don't know we have not heard anything about him actually "hunting" and shooting". All around he just did not strike me as proficient as far as firearms,go which leads me more in the direction of a impulsive as opposed to thought out planned event.

I dont know - does anyone remember in any other hate crime them feeling remorse and turning themselves in . ?

There are a number of different ways a semi-auto can "jam," and if you are considered knowledgeable of firearms and make such a statement to an expert, he is going to consider you a beginner, because "jamming" is actually the result of several different reactions to the mechanical actions occurring in the handgun.

Such problems are most apt to occur with inexperienced shooters who don’t hold the gun firmly enough. Learning to rapidly clear a jam is of fundamental
importance.
