Canada - Six dead in shootings at Mosque in Quebec City, 29 Jan 2017

What is It with Every.Single.One of these mass shootings the past few years the initial reports have multiple masked shooters. The day after they are down to a lone wolf all by himself. It never fails...

Pay attention to the next one. It will be the same thing. Guaranteed!

it isnt just the past few years, it is throughout history. and it isnt just the number of shooters that is often mistaken, it is many other things too.

part of it is that eyewitnesses are notoriously unreliable, which has been exacerbated by the immediate availability of highly competitive media coverage.

once again the rush to label this incident has proven false, and the people pushing those falsehoods are nowhere to be found.

when there was equal evidence pointing in opposite directions some people chose to believe "well it must be "this" because ummm well it just must be!"

instead of acknowledging that it wasnt yet clear and waiting for the facts, those same people often either cant acknowledge that they were mistaken, or disturbingly continue to push their original false narrative.

It would be interesting to learn more about home life. Enmeshed ith brother - but it also seems like there is a mamas boy (or daddies!) in that by all accounts he was there a lot .

He is 27! Flee the coup. Another instance of a male who thus far we have heard nothing about a girlfriend.

Its so close to a Dylan profile - being tiny, bullied, apparently good at retention of info, but socially rejected.

He is tiny , like Dylan, that impacts self-esteem.

It wasn't just Trump.

He “liked” U.S. President Donald Trump, the Parti Quebecois, the Israeli armed forces and Marine Le Pen, leader of the National Front in France. He also liked a page linked to former New Democrat leader Jack Layton.

http://www.torontosun.com/2017/01/31/quebec-shooting-suspect-loved-guns-as-a-kid-neighbours-say

The French-Canadian student charged in connection with a shooting spree that killed six people at a Quebec City mosque was a supporter Donald Trump and far-right French politician Marine Le Pen.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...p-marine-le-pen-facebook-social-a7554451.html

On his Facebook page, he indicated he liked Le Pen, US President Donald Trump, the separatist Parti Quebecois as well as Canada's left-wing New Democratic Party, the Israeli Defense Forces, heavy metal band Megadeth and pop star Katy Perry.

He also liked Garfield.

I am surprised about the references to Marine Le Pen (and DT) in the MSM.

Marine Le Pen leads the polls in the upcoming French elections for president with 27%.
With 27% of the voters behind her, rougly 10 million persons, there would not be one mosque standing in France if Marine le Pen radicalized her followers as she allegedly did with AB.

I don't know we have not heard anything about him actually "hunting" and shooting". All around he just did not strike me as proficient as far as firearms,go which leads me more in the direction of a impulsive as opposed to thought out planned event.

I dont know - does anyone remember in any other hate crime them feeling remorse and turning themselves in . ?

There are a number of different ways a semi-auto can "jam," and if you are considered knowledgeable of firearms and make such a statement to an expert, he is going to consider you a beginner, because "jamming" is actually the result of several different reactions to the mechanical actions occurring in the handgun.

Such problems are most apt to occur with inexperienced shooters who don’t hold the gun firmly enough. Learning to rapidly clear a jam is of fundamental
importance.

It's in the article in my post that you quoted.

Alexandre Bissonnette also developed a passion for guns as far back as his pre-teens, recalled one man who has lived across from the 27-year-old suspect’s childhood home for about three decades.

“Alexandre really liked guns,” said Bussieres, who added that his son told him Bissonnette had a gun when he was about 12 years old.

He added that Bissonnette talked to him about his passion for hunting big animals like moose and bear.

Maybe it's his fault. :) Or it's the rock bands fault. Or maybe katy perry. It's always something else and not the evil behind the weapon. jmo idk

Site Intelligence Group called it "unlikely" that Bissonette had any Jihadi ties in light of the postings.

That is in reference to his BB gun. Just found and linked the statement from a 12 year kid who says he loved his BB gun.

I do not know and this is only mo BUT

My sense ( sounds stereotypical I know) but an image of a piano playing, college attending, shy, 5 foot 6 baby face kid at 27, chess player ,who enjoys swimming, swirling around his bedroom to Katy Perry records, and dresses in

button down shirts , who participated in the Candian version of the Boy Scouts, who grew up in a manicured little white house in the suburbs, who used to go looking for quartz rocks at recess. , with little bangs on his forehead ---------------

I just aint "feeling it" -- a Pike county crocodile Dundee who wants to chase large game around in the wilderness. ---throwing his Moose in the back of his jeep on his way to a chess game or a social studies class.

Victims average three shots each - does not sound like a mark smith - when targets are on the floor???

But that is only my sense at this point --who knows.

Accused Quebec mosque shooter had fascination for guns, extreme-right beliefs: sources

http://news.nationalpost.com/news/c...nation-for-guns-extreme-right-beliefs-sources

From a young age, Alexandre Bissonnette was fascinated with guns. As a boy, he would fire a pellet gun in the woods across the street from the house where he was raised in suburban Cap-Rouge, a neighbour recounted Tuesday. As a young teen, he joined the Cadets, where marksmanship is an important part of the training.

Debroise described Bissonnette, 27, as unremarkable and unthreatening. “He was very introverted, someone who was pretty quiet,” he said. The one subject that he spoke of with real interest was hunting.

“We understood that he was a hunter and that he had guns,” Debroise said.

“It was something he was passionate about. He liked hunting large game, like moose or bear.”

Rejean Bussières, who lives across the street from the Bissonnettes, said his son played with Alexandre when they were children. But when Alexandre hit his teen years and became obsessed with guns and violent films, his son stopped hanging out with him.

Within minutes, according to the charges against him, he was transformed from an anti-social gun lover and right-wing social-media troll to a mass murderer.

bbm You sure it was BB and not pellet? Because they are totally different. I read he shot a pellet gun when he was young, not a BB gun. Or course both can kill.

I am guessing that 'B' could be a "wanna' be" regarding many things in life.

Thus, a boy quiet boy who was familiar with pellet guns (Probably very common in the area. Therefore, such familiarity was not going to elevate his social status) transformed himself into a largely mythical big game hunter. Looking again to enhance his status, he joins a military oriented scouting group. But he never joins the military, let alone an elite unit.

The same introvert political science major who was interested in the news in his humdrum normal life, then transforms himself into an elite political activist who is "in the know" about "enemy" intentions. He goes on to murder six people, yet then wants to apologize.

In short..... "B" seems exactly like a good number of the would be jihaders and actual jihaders:

People drifting through life looking for a macho identity of some sort. They lack the education and brains to find success and social status through work. Poor social skills limit their ability to find meaning elsewhere. They then drift to extremism. Terrorism provides instant recognition and "status".

The cadet stuff is media spin:

It is a national program for young Canadians aged 12 to 18 who are interested in participating in a variety of fun, challenging and rewarding activities while learning about the Sea , Army and Air activities of the Canadian Armed Forces.

encouraged to become active, responsible members of their communities

environmental, citizenship and community activities.
... life and work skills such as teamwork, leadership and citizenship.

loyalty, professionalism, mutual respect and integrity. ....

fair play, teamwork and tolerance through all of their activities.

work hard at school

self-confidence, self-esteem and self-awareness?

participate in cultural visits and sporting competitions.

participate in healthy activities.

fun, challenging, well-organized and safe activities.

They do some sailing, can join the marching band,

Its a combination of summer camp and the boy scouts

At summer camp we had archery and riflery activities. I suppose one could use the term marksmanship as it relates to these but it really was no different than water skied, arts and crafts, canoeing, swimming. It was activities--

I think this could also be a identical portrait of mass shooters !!

I'll pull out my analysis, based on nothing but my own thoughts.

In cases like this - dweeby guys turning killers - I think it's guys who have potential, but never quite "make it" in the world. They get stuck in the socially and physically unappealing stage and get very frustrated. They lack the patience to outgrow that stage or to develop something in themselves that is appealing. They are smart and see they aren't making it, but they don't know how to navigate life on their own.

So, instead of perservering and building a life for themselves, they essentially commit suicide on their potential by committing a crime so heinous that they will either be killed by cops or get a life sentence.

I don't think they deliberately make that decision, but I do think their choices lead directly to a life of confinement where they are off the hook for any expectations of achievement. All decisions in jail will be made for them for the rest of their lives, and perhaps they will have a chance at excelling by being a jailhouse scholar.

That's been my take on similar criminals in the past, and it's what I think is going on here. In this case, the killer chose people in prayer. Others of this type lash out at innocent victims also in vulnerable positions (at school, their own families at home, etc.).

Armchair analysis only. jmo

It was pellet there air guns

I totally agree. I don't get it. Makes me scratch my head. A lot.

This irritates me in every single one of these situations. What also bothers me is when it's a person of an "other" race or creed, some will never let go of the idea that he just had to have ties to ISIS or other organizations even if all evidence says otherwise, but if he's of this particular gunman's background, it's easy to accept he was a lone wolf. It's very indicative of the ingrained worldviews most people hold.

His online life was full of hate, but in real life he was calm and his chess game was on point," said Antoine Cabanac, a former classmate.

Bissonnette's Facebook page said he had studied political science and anthropology at Laval University. There were photos of him at a party, with family, in a Halloween costume and posing in front of a chessboard. He had liked pages for heavy metal bands, video games and public figures ranging from far-right French politician Marine Le Pen and U.S. President Donald Trump to chess grandmaster Anatoly Karpov and Pope John Paul II.

Incidents of Islamophobia have increased in the province of Quebec in recent years, according to Reuters.

Sunday's attack came hours after Trudeau openly rejected Trump's restriction on travel from seven majority Muslim nations.
