This OPP link states she was murdered in her residence. I guess I knew that but the OPP and other LE haven't released much about her murder at all.

CALEDON, ON, Aug. 29, 2014 /CNW/ - During the early morning hours of August 30, 2010, Sonia VARASCHIN, who was 42-years old at the time, was brutally murdered in her residence on Spring Street in Orangeville.

I wonder it there was more than one male DNA profile found at any of the three scenes? JMO

Looks like a couple of young punks hanging around in the wee hours of the morning and up to no good to me. Looks like one is wearing a ball cap? Just the profile of the person or person's who murdered Sonia that I've always suspected. LE really need to take a closer look at the young people who were living and hanging around in that townhouse complex at the time IMO.

The first one down the steps is wearing a back pack and the second one is carrying something in front of him. From the length of it, it reminds me of a guitar case.

These guys are walking towards Broadway based on how they exit the gazebo. The walkway goes between First Ave and Broadway. Broadway is one-way at that point until the end where Greenhawk Equestrian is located.

Is the gazebo lit up from the inside? So bright and shadow are coming from the gazebo. These guys aren't staggering too much either.

While I don't really think that these guys are the perps in this case based on the casual way they are standing around in a lighted gazebo and walking slowly away, it just goes to show what can happen when you choose not to come forward to police with any information if you are in the vicinity of a crime scene around the time of the crime in question. If these guys were the perps, they'd be covered in blood and wouldn't just be standing around after dumping the car wondering what to do next and they would likely have left some footprint evidence in that gazebo.

I also assume there is footage on how it is they came to be in that gazebo. And at what time.

Hope they come forward soon.

That was the summer we had our two bathrooms gutted and redone in our Toronto home in order to sell it later on. I recall that August was extremely hot and humid. So hot and humid that we rented a room in a Mississauga hotel in order to bathe and wash our hair. So............

Aren't these guys way over dressed for the hot weather we had that summer? Wouldn't they be wearing shorts and light t-shirts in that particular August? Why are they wearing long pants, long sleeves? Are these LAYERS of clothing put on in order to cover up bloodied clothing?

The weather that summer and the way these guys are dressed is a contradiction for me.

Saw your link NSU and also just heard this on the news. This video was taken at a gazebo around 6 am near where her vehicle was found.

Bringing the video over to the new page we're on so we all can see it easily.

I saw the story on ctv news --
surveillance footage is from 5:58 am in Alexandra Park according to the story. Do we think Sonia would have been murdered after that time? Otherwise: why would the killer(s) linger in the area?
Still, it would be really interesting to know if LE can use technology to zoom in on the footwear in the footage ... though I know it's not the boot per se but the tread that is critical to this case.

Police believe Ms. Varaschin was attacked during the night, between Sunday and Monday morning, and her bed sheet and comforter used to move her body into her car, which was driven to Beech Grove Side Road. Her body was discarded there along with the bedding.

Just bringing this article in from Sept 9 2010, article about the workboots.

Hmmmm.....

“We believe that Sonia’s killer is very familiar with Orangeville, the outskirts of Orangeville, Sonia’s neighbourhood, Sonia’s townhouse complex and potentially Sonia herself,” said Det. Insp. Pritchard, who is leading the investigation.
While he refused to talk about suspects, he said police have identified a number of “persons of interest.”
There was no sign of forced entry at Ms. Varaschin’s well-maintained townhouse, where she lived alone. Police don’t believe she was a victim chosen at random or that more than one suspect was involved.

This morning I was noticing that it does remain dark until later. In the video we can see the moonlight way up through the trees.

I'm also confused about the way the gazebo is lit up. Does anyone know this gazebo? Is it completely bright the way we're seeing it here? Did LE enhance the light in order to get the men to be seen more clearly?

Oh no! Now I'm going to want to try to link this crime to two others! :blushing: I have faith in LE and I truly don't think they 'missed the boat' in solving three horrific crimes in Southern Ontario in 2010 from August to December.

That's all I'll say on the linking thing for now. :scared:
