With all due respect to everyone, I in my own opinion, feel that Sonia's murder was a "stand alone" murder - We have tried to make a connection to Audrey Gleave, and a few others, and to my mind each of these killings are unique on their own. Just because there are other murders in Ontario (within a broad geo area), does not necessarily create any link.

To my mind, Audrey and Sonia -- are separate murders - to be investigated by LE within their own law enforcement jurisdictions. It would be a roaming killer to take in both. So far, law enforcement are not even alluding to the position that there is a serial killer out there - or that there is any connection between both homicides.

The Bosma case is interesting, in that Ancaster is within Audrey's area, and she did have a Camero.
That does give one pause for thought. hmmm----

Dotr, those former young and noisy neighbours of Sonia ....
Do we know who they are? To where they moved? With whom they are friends?

I keep wondering the same thing. Didn't we read somewhere that she said they were too noisy? How come they left so fast.

I haven't been following this case as closely as I have others but I thought I would bring over some information from the Audrey Gleave case so that those of you here might see if anything connects.

I was browsing for a connection to the AG case and I came across this:

Well, it so happens that this individual is most likely related to someone who was close to AG.

This is his facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/jonathan.vanstone

He seems to be involved in the horse "trade"; possibly as a stable hand and frequents/frequented a lot of the areas where SV's case took place. One of our other sleuthers also posted his mugshot beside the composite sketch for SV's case and there does seem to be some resemblance.

I just thought it might be of interest to those of you with more knowledge about SV's case.

Re post of Dec.2010 news link.

"For three long days, top criminal profilers and investigators from across North America came together in a Toronto hotel to pore over the details of the summertime murder of Orangeville, Ont., nurse Sonia Varaschin.

The three-day "investigative summit" last week was unprecedented but warranted by the "very rare" nature of the crime, Ontario Provincial Police Det.-Insp. Mark Pritchard said at a news conference Thursday.

The killer attacked Varaschin, 42, in her home in Orangeville, about 80 kilometres northwest of Toronto, either late on Aug. 29 or early on Aug. 30, when her blood-smeared white Toyota Corolla was found, doors open, in an alleyway in downtown Orangeville.

"Anybody who enters somebody's house where you should be safe and kills you, in my view is cold-blooded," Pritchard said.

He said the killer not only entered Varaschin's Spring Street home, he moved her body into her vehicle, despite "the close confines of the townhouse complex." After dumping the body, he then recklessly drove back near the scene of the murder and into town with blood that would have been "clearly visible on the outside of the car."

Closing in on the third anniversary of her death, investigators looking into the unsolved murder of Orangeville nurse Sonia Varaschin are offering a $50,000 reward to anyone supplying police with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for her murder.

Doesn't sound promising to me. Still stunned that three crimes scenes haven't led to any arrest after three years.

"A few days after anti-gang activist Kenneth Mark was gunned down outside a pizzeria in the Junction on Dec. 29, 2009, someone could have gone into a TD Canada Trust branch with a cryptic number written on a piece of paper, and walked out with a wad of bills totalling $2,000 — without ever presenting so much as a driver’s licence.

That could have been the anonymous tipster responsible for the arrest of four people linked to the shooting. The board of Crime Stoppers recommended the maximum award for the tip. But no one collected it.

Most money offered to solve crimes is never claimed, even when tens of thousands of dollars are at stake.

It’s not only true of Ontario, but of many jurisdictions. Around the world, millions of dollars are left on the table, while some of the most wanted men roam free. Even $25 million has not been enough to lead to the capture of Osama bin Laden.

And less than half of the reward money offered through Toronto’s Crime Stoppers program is ever collected, according to Darlene Ross, co-ordinator of the Crime Stoppers program. “Most people contact us because they want to do the right thing.”

Interesting that the reward is offered now that we (as in WS and hopefully LE) have JV in the pic.

JV seems to have a large circle of friends/acquaintances up in the Oville/Caledon area, so maybe one of them will now know about his Florida charges and they or others may have their memory jogged by the reward offered, recall that he was in the area at the time, or had a particular interest in the case, or ....

I have to say, that I always wondered about the actors, producers, directors involved with the Splatalot filming located in/near Orangeville at the time.

Many of those men came in from other cities and even countries.

They are long since gone.

Could one of them be Sonia's murderer?

I've been suspicious of the neighbours who may or may not have moved out right after Sonia was murdered. Who may or may not be the same loud neighbours she complained about. JMO
