WARMINGTON: Desperately seeking Sassy
"A carjacking has turned also into a dognapping.
The “Sassy” alert is closing in on 18 hours and still no sign of the beloved miniature schnauzer.
But Peel Regional Police are hoping that with a refreshed appeal for the public’s help, combined with a new investigative track, perhaps some leads may be unleashed.
“Hopefully, people can take a look around for this dog,” said Const. Akhil Mooken.
People have already been asked to keep an eye out for a white, two-door Mercedes S5A with a sunroof that was stolen from the Kane Rd. area of Port Credit.
But veteran copper Mooken says in his experience of these kids of accidental dognappings, following the illegal theft of a running vehicle, the culprits will often open the door of the car and let the dog free.
“Sassy could be wandering around in a neighbourhood,” he said.
The poor dog might in a real panic, in need of food and shelter.
So if you are in the Mississauga and Lake Shore Rds. area of Mississauga, perhaps take a minute and look around for this tiny hound.
In the meantime, also keep your eyes peeled for the white Mercedes. If it was abandoned, Sassy could also still be inside.
The Ontario plate on the car at the time of the theft was KELLYCAM."
