Linda Hegg was missing more than a week ago in Delaware. She suffers from a medical condition.

She's 55 years of age. She does not drive. So we're not exactly sure how she would have gotten to Toronto.

Police here began an investigation when a mystery woman showed up on the streets of Downtown in September.

She can't provide police or anyone else with any additional information about herself. So the big question is: Who is she? Where did she come from?

A breakthrough came through this weekend through the internet and social media, someone in Toronto made a connection and called Police.

A woman who had actually reported this to us had happened to be on a missing person website. And on that website, she saw our press release, and she also knew of the missing person in Toronto, put two and two together.

If these two Lindas are one-in-the-same, how did she make it across the border?

It is quite a distance away, and in my 18 years here at the Police Department, I've never seen a missing person that we've had recovered at such a distance.

Ivy Cuervo:
Toronto Police call this a unique case. They've been in touch with the Police in Delaware and the family of a missing woman in that area. DNA testing is being done to determine Linda's true identity.

Interesting. It sounds like WS was the first contact on the MP side, but not the first contact on the UID side. At least that is how I am interpreting this info along with the screen shot of WS in the MSM video.

I don't think the UID side would have taken it quite as seriously, without the info from WS to the MP/Newark PD.

So does that mean it's a match or not? Or will be considered a match once official id is made?

FWIW....someone on the Missing People of Canada FB Page posted info about WS and copied the information there so I'm assuming the Canadian woman is the one they refer to in the article as having contacted LE.

For the record, it wasn't me. In my opinion, dylansmom deserves all the credit! You found the connection.

Thanks everyone! I hope we get confirmation soon too. I think about Linda quite often and hope she will be taken care of and better monitored. She looks like such a sweet lady.

OMG Dylansmom thank you for getting involved with this case. I hadn't seen a thread on here about this woman until now and had posted about this story on my facebook. Great sleuthing xoxo I hope this woman gets home to her family soon and I'm 100% sure it's her and so do my facebook friends.
