Given what Caitlan has likely been fed about the US, Muslim relations, and US gov’t actions in places like Gitmo, I wouldn’t be surprised if she feels safer in Canada right now. Especially considering the high-profile media stories that highlight all the division and anger in the US. It could look like a scary place for her.

She’s been through a lot of trauma. It’s enough to completely bend anyone’s view of reality and really screw up your perception of safety. It could take quite a bit of therapy to even recognize the error in the messages you’ve been fed, let alone start healing from them.

All of that aside, there are some practical considerations. If she and/or her children are indeed victims, they’d probably need to be available during trial prep. Traveling back and forth would be expensive. It might just make more sense to stay put.

Amen, so happy for her. She looks genuinely happy in that pic where she’s in the middle.

Hope she does okay living the “lesser life” in the US that some are insistent about. But in my opinion, she’s where she belongs, despite so many people thinking the two govts wouldn’t come to an agreement to allow her and the kids to leave. I always had faith that the govts would offer for them to come to the US without the usual red tape.

Is the baby in that pic the one they referred to her being pregnant with or is that the youngest born in the Middle East?

Welcome home Caitlan.

This will be very interesting. I wonder if we will hear anymore about her

I think the American press is more intrusive then the Canadian press, so probably.

With a 4th child on the way, she is going to need the help from her parents imo.

Now that she is free of Boyle, I hope she writes a book about what really happened to them in Afghanistan.

I'm very glad her family has been able to convince her to go back home with the children. Happy that the courts have allowed the children to go to the USA until everything is sorted out and certainly hope she ends up with full custody of all four children and remains with her own family in the USA.

She, no doubt, has a lot of healing to do and the safety of those children is paramount.

For sure. I can't help wondering if the conception of the fourth child, given all that was happening, was voluntary on her part. Which is absolutely not to suggest she won't love and care for the baby. She looked so very much better in that picture with her mother.

I think its of her and the youngest born during captivity.

Yes thank you! I realized after I posted but the site was being a major pain so I gave up trying to edit my post.

I am pleased a Family Law Court judge approved the travel of the children with her to the US.
She should be with her own family and her own support system.
In the new photo of her she looks happy. Free from JB and his control.

I see she is quite pregnant, with JB being arrested Jan 1, my guess is she is due in late August, Sept.

I hope, one day when she is ready, to hear her side of the story.

On Monday, a judge ruled that Coleman, a U.S. citizen, could relocate pending a resolution of her case, so she decided to leave both Canada and Boyle behind, crossing the U.S.-Canada border with her three children that same night.

Fabulous! I did not know she was pregnant again. That's got to be rough as well.

However, it's a great sign that she was willing to leave Canada. There is no way Josh will ever be allowed in the U.S.

As well he shouldn't.

I went to University with Josh, (University of Waterloo, BA, BSoc, '06), and there is no Liberal Studies degree. All that is is a more flexible BA program. You earn a BA (LibSt). He grew up in Breslau, in a Mennonite home, (not horse and buggy) in a normal suburban community where the kids all did normal kid things. He played hockey, baseball, rode bikes, all that stuff. At university, I had a social psych class with him. He had long hair and spoke with what I thought was a slightly "fake" pretentious kind of accent. He was pleasant, if not amusingly half-smug. He definitely did not like being debated by women, and had a hard time coming up with intelligent counter points to arguments. Liked to throw biblical "it's what I believe" to shut down a conversation. I wouldn't say he had a disdain for women per se, but I would say that he didn't like "losing" to a woman in argument, that is apparent.

Saw him on campus from time to time as well. Definitely unassuming and just another student, lugging books and drinking Tim Horton's coffee. I worked at the campus bar, and he went to music events, but I can't recall ever serving him drinks, but he did usually get something to eat from the Bomber kitchen.

Liberal Studies

Ex-hostage American Caitlan Coleman accuses Canadian husband Joshua Boyle of abuse, in court documents

In unsealed court documents, Coleman alleges she was physically and emotionally abused by Boyle while they were being held by the Taliban-linked Haqqani network.

“J.B. (Joshua Boyle) regularly threatened to kill me by setting me on fire,” Coleman says in an affidavit filed in June as part of a family court application to gain sole custody of the couple’s children

Ex-hostage American Caitlan Coleman accuses Canadian husband Joshua Boyle of abuse, in court documents Sept 4, 2018

He submitted in a 23 page affidavit alleging her of assaulting him, neglecting the children due to mental illness and that she had tried to push him in from of a subway car years before they were married(probably during the time she came to live with him in Toronto)

I am glad the Family court judge did not believe him, there was no evidence presented to support his allegations.

From early on, after reading her previous allegations against their captors, I began to think that it could be JB who was the one abusing and raping her while in captivity and not the captures as she alleged.
