Coleman claims that while being held captive, Boyle confined her for six weeks to a tiny shower stall. Coleman's affidavit also alleges throughout their marriage Boyle regularly threatened to set her on fire, physically attacked her on a regular basis and hit her in the face, and repeatedly told her she was "one of the worst people in the world," according to court documents.

Coleman claimed her husband's involvement with his children was "negative, and, on occasion, brutal."

She alleges there were times Boyle would strike one of their children "repeatedly grip him around the neck and shout in his face." She claims Boyle tried to turn at least one of their children against her saying "mommy was bad and needs to be hit" or "mommy will probably go to hellfire."

"They married during a trip through Central America in July 2011, but soon separated. Coleman began divorce proceedings in March 2012.

One month later, Boyle visited Coleman at her home in Pennsylvania where they reconciled. They agreed to go backpacking through Central Asia, he says, and decided to leave on the trip even after finding out that Coleman was pregnant with their first child. They departed in July 2012."

Had we heard before now that she began divorce proceedings in March 2012?
I wonder what made her separate from him and return home after the July 2011 trip where they got married?
There was something that made her want to leave him and then divorce him...but along he comes and woes her back, she gets pregnant and he convinces her to backpack in Central Asia.

Is it me or does anyone else believe he had some sort of agenda concerning her?

He could have gone to Afghanistan on his own, why bring her?

Her shower story is chilling. Joshua once said their captors held them in a cell the size of a bathroom stall. So many of the charges he faces mimic his specific claims about their captors, down to drugging with food. He’s a seriously twisted man.

Trial started a Monday in Ottawa, Canada

There are 19 charges against him and 2 victims, one neinghis wife CC, the second is unknown. The crimes happened in Canada. The crimes “include sexual assault, assault, unlawful confinement.”

His wife asked the Canadian Court to “lift the ban on publication of her name”

Partial gag was lifted on Monday.

In was hinted that JB lawyers will say that CC “agreed to the abuse and domination”.

Prosecutors in Ontario said in court on Monday that they expect Boyle's lawyers will argue that Coleman agreed to the abuse and domination to which she was subjected to, according to the Ottawa Citizen.

Canadian man stands trial after wife alleges abuse following family's Afghan kidnapping

Joshua Boyle, 35, entered an Ottawa courtroom dressed in a dark blue jacket, a pink shirt and black pants. He was accompanied by his father.

A court-ordered publication ban initially prevented media from identifying Boyle’s alleged victims, but was partially lifted on Monday to reveal that all but one of the 19 charges relate to his American wife, Caitlan Coleman

Boyle and Coleman were kidnapped in October 2012 while backpacking in Afghanistan. At the time, Coleman was pregnant with the couple’s first child.

I feel so badly for Caitlin Coleman. Joshua Boyle is evil. He really is and she needs to be able to get away from him and somehow move on with her life.

Caitlyn grabbed her children's and her passport and fled to her mom's hotel room to begin her escape to the USA. Her abusive husband told the police outrageous lies to try to detain her. It certainly appears that he planned to keep her imprisoned forever.

What a piece of work this guy is. Thank God she managed to get away. If anyone has mental issues it's him. Unbelievable.

Coleman told the court that her mental health declined after she met Boyle and that she turned to “self-harm.” This is more of a red flag that Joshua is a manipulative abuser rather than Caitlan has serious psychological issues.

She said Boyle told her that she had “serious psychological issues”. Coleman said she was never formally diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder or treated by a professional.

Reading between the lines, JOSHUA with no college degree or medical training diagnosed Caitlan with a horrible personality disorder. Then he emotionally beat her down telling her that she had this horrible diagnosis. Joshua's fake diagnosis was a weapon of torture to keep Caitlan as his prisoner.
