She testified that sometimes he would call 20 times a night, often threatening to take his own life if she didn't take him back, or come visit. He perfectly fits the profile of a manipulative domestic violence abuser.

He also began their relationship knowing she was only 16 and had never had a boyfriend. He was 21.

She told the court she and Boyle had been arguing and that she was crying, so he told her to take off her clothes and get in the shower stall.

Once she was in the shower, Coleman said Boyle brought her three Trazodone pills —his medication — insisting she take them.

She argued with him about the dosage, saying he only was supposed to take half a tablet at a time.

She said when Boyle returned and realized what she'd thrown the pills down the drain, he hit her in the face and brought another three pills forcing her to take them.

Coleman described to the court what happened during their time in captivity, when, she said, Boyle became increasingly abusive, both physically and emotionally.

She said the abuse included hitting her on the face with a fist, slapping her with an open hand, choking her and biting Coleman all over her body.

Coleman also told the court he engaged in what she called "physical punishment" that included spanking her buttocks when she argued with him.

She said this happened before they were captured but intensified to three or four times a week.

He told her, she said, how she was supposed to dress, to speak to him and to behave. “I was to speak demurely to him,” she said, "and call him 'sir'. "

Boyle often hit her in face for arguing with him. He told her that she had to be okay with it because he was her husband and it was his right.

Boyle would frequently bite her all over her body. When she told him it hurt, Boyle told her she should enjoy it because it makes him happy.

Boyle has hired a high profile lawyer as well. Lawrence Greenspon represents a lot of high profile cases in the Ottawa area such as 2006 trial of , a now convicted, terrorist Mom Khawaja.

Reading what is coming out in court is heartbreaking.

IMHO, it must have been hard for him to control himself during the time they lived with his parents in Smiths Falls.
He probably couldn't wait to get CC and the kids away from his family so he could resume his abuse and control of them.

JB forcing CC to take drugs and then go walking to the park or was it on Elgin St.
Not sure if this was the same day but there they are walking on Elgin St in front of the courthouse the month before we has arrested.

Joshua Boyle forced her to take 5x the amount of Trazodone he was prescribed. Then, because he had forced her to be naked, he made her put on her clothes and go outside while extremely drowsy. What was his purpose for making her go outside while doped up? Was he intending to push her off a bridge into water? Shove her in front of oncoming traffic? Imo, Caitlan is lucky to have made it out of this relationship alive.
