Casey Anthony Legal Defense Strategies #2

Question..
Has anyone seen a news report, or any statement from Baez regarding Zenaida kidnapping Caylee?
I have searched all over and to this day I cannot find any statements from him indicating that Caylee was taken by a Zenaida..
Also adding that to this day I haven't heard any of her other attorneys say that a "Zenaida" is involved, only that the police didn't look into them all.:waitasec:

At some point, early after Caylee's body was found, I remember a JB press conference or interview in which he made a statement that led me to believe that he was actually going to use the "Zenaida Did it" defense.

I specifically remember thinking how foolish he was & that no Jury would ever believe there ever was a Zenaida...!

I can't remember the exact comment he made but i do remember something along the lines of "There's more than one Zenaida" or that LE found the "Wrong Zenaida"

I may be confusing Jose with someone else on "Team Anthony" but I'm pretty sure it was him

I'll look around & see if I can come up with the statement

Oh they are going with the Kronk is the perp defense IMO. It shouldn't fly but they will try. None of them have any scruples regarding implicating an innocent man. They should burn in h*77 for doing this knowingly and willingly.

What I find fascinating is that the rents are doing their very best to get KC off. If by some miracle that happens, have they thought ahead, that she will be back living in their house. They may say they don't believe her guilt in public by I don't for one minute believe they don't know that she is a deranged/dangerous individual, capable of murder. How will they be able to feel safe and comfortable living with her in their home? Will they be able to drink the coffee/tea/cola drink she brings them w/o wondering if it's tainted? When they lay down to go to sleep will they wonder if she will sneak into their room during the night to inject them/ or cut them? I have no doubt that KC will "off" one or both of them if she ends up living with them again as KC lives in her fantasy world, she believes her own delusions and believes that others will also. She wouldn't blink an eye about her just escaping a murder charge and then her parent(s) end up dead. This may sound cold....by b/c I believe they know what their daughter is capable of and b/c I believe they KNOW she murdered Caylee and b/'c they did all they could to get her off, it will be a kind of poetic justice if they end up "pushing up daisies". The only way they won't be her next victim(s) is if she makes big bucks selling her story and is able to live on her own, her next victim could be a lover, or god forbid another child she has, or a friend..but she will kill again b/c she has a grandiose opinion of herself. And if/when that happens JB won't touch her with a ten foot pole. My opinion only.

-----------------------------
DoogiesGirl you are so right :woohoo: could you imagine trying to sleep with her in the house? :floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

Unfortunately for KC, every time KC's parents go out in the public they make KC look worse.

George's and Cindy's Zenaida depositions, the hammer videos, and today's video when Cindy jumps all over a reporter, show people who can be provoked and have tempers. They don't control themselves. Which makes it easier for the public to view George's and Cindy's daughter as a mom who might lose control with Caylee. Every time they lie they reinforce opinion of KC as a liar.

The defense would have to do some extreme finessing to present KC's parents in a way that makes them assets.

jmo

Honestly, I don't think there's a lawyer in the world who can do enough finessing to salvage the A's credibility. At this point, I think it's completely shot. All JA and LDB have to do is present their many conflicting statements and ask one simple question, "Were you lying then or are you lying now?" Couple that with CA's attempt to obstruct justice (washing pants, wrong hairbrush) and there is no way their testimony can be taken seriously. Unfortunately, it works both ways. They will stink as witnesses for both sides.

Heard two local news reports that don't usually cover the case, but today they reported JB is now complaining that the state is trying to set up a biased jury for the Death Penalty. He is really getting into how awful the Death Penalty is and how terrible to kill a human being. (oh, not Caylee the victim, he's talking about protecting poor Casey from the consequences of getting caught 'cause now everybody's picking on her)

It seems like the big defense team is going to offer up a lot of whining and finger pointing, but little else to explain how somebody else or some other way this little girl ended up dead in the woods a block away from her home with all evidence pointing to Casey. Does he think getting these blurbs on my news channel that sound like more whining is going to change the facts and the evidence? Guess I'm just tired of the defense strategies.

Do you have the link? I'd love to see these. I haven't seen anything since the judge ruled and have been wondering when the defense and the Anthonys would start their next campaign against someone. Where is Terrance with the voice of reason? http://www.wftv.com/news/19448158/detail.html

Also, do we have some sort of list going with dates of the moving SODDI targets of the defense?

1. Ricardo was a big target for some time, remember LKBadden argued the motion that they want more examinations notes from Ricardo’s computer, even though they already had it in in their possession (the hard drive). I wonder if when Casey was shown what they learned on his hard drive were the photos of Caylee in THAT T SHIRT that he sold to the tabloids if Casey somehow told them to back off of him. Obviously they did inform her that he sold them and how much money he may have received, but once she realized they were those pictures, with that t shirt the baby died in...whoa. Then....crickets

2. Jesse Grund was literally their target. "For all intents and purposes Jesse was considered a suspect in this case by LE, and for that matter so was Amy" Baez said in court . We saw lots of trial balloons on the media tour about Jesse, but it never worked out for the defense, in fact it backfired when Jesse and his pop came on TV and the public loved him. Then......crickets

3. Next up the big bad Texas Equisearch got drug through the mud. The Anthonys and the defense did everything they could to besmirch Tim and the volunteers, wow it was shameful. I was outraged what they said publicly about LE, the FBI and Mr. Miller, who I regard as a hero , saying he did shady things , etc. etc. . Well, it turns out that Texas Equisearch survived, unscathed and the Joys of the world were exposed as unstable and unreliable and again we here crickets. We haven't even seen Todd since he pronounced in open court that the body was placed there after Casey went to jail and the defense has TES volunteers who will testify they searched that area and the body was not there. He is MIA in court. crickets

4. Flavor of the month switched to Kronk. The defense came out and said very strong statements, then backed off them considerably all within seven business days. in a noticeable change in tone to we are in NO WAY saying he hurt Caylee. Reporters and w/s members looked into the background of the would be witnesses against Mr. Kronk, laughed ourselves silly, thud. Oh those crickets are maddening.

5. Now who is is it the mean mean Mr. Ashton and the judge .... are they the bad guys this week?

When are they ever going to show us the exhaustive searches they have done for the nanny? LOL

Did they send Mort to North Carolina and New York and the other various and sundry places that Casey claimed Zanny had family, or to check the marriage records in the county where Jeff's mom got married ( remember Casey had to stay on , according to her because she and Jeff had to attend his mom's wedding), so they could find the Jeff who could help lead them to Zanny. Or has Mort been too busy chasing ex wives of Kronk? Have they even made a cursory search, to make the pretense that they looked for Zanny, even in a perfunctory way? If not how do they explain that strategy?

6. Mom and pop are next in line to get thrown under the bus is my guess. Brace yourselves.

I think it is interesting to contrast Terence L's approach to defuse this and get KC a lighter sentence to what the Defense is doing now.

IIRC TL put together an anti-DP statement that seemed sensible and void of all of the hoopla. There was however, allegedly, a difference of opinion and strategy between TL and JB.

Now JB with AL is taking an approach that while maybe seen as effective, to motion against the DP and taint folks like RK .... is not as effective as what TL was doing. Why?

Is this because JB and AL are seeking fame and notoriety or .... once again, that their client KC closes the door on many avenues open to them?

"I will not be tricked into confessing to a crime that I did not commit".

Check Trial coming up really soon and it is so quiet - wonder if there is a plea deal in the works - maybe a plea of Nolo contendere. Anyone know the legal aspect of that type of plea, as far as how it would apply to the Murder Trial? Would it be time served and possibly expunged before Murder Trial if Defense can postpone the trial?

Was thinking about Baez's ineptness while I read your post and thought you'd written "nolo comprendez" and thought - yes, that fits. Took a second read to see what you meant.
Thank you for asking this question. I know RHornsby answered it a couple of times but I still don't have it straight in my mind.

Hypothetical Defense Throwing George under the bus..................Caylee died while at home with George and Casey on the 16th. The duo began covering it up and staging a kidnapping for the benefit of poor Cindy's feelings (she'd abandon them all if she knew the truth). Part of the script was for Casey to stay out of site of her mother, and stall, stall, stall until the poor baby's corpse had decomposed, before reporting her missing, or until such time it became necessary to call the authorities per Cindy's insistance. George was to lay out the kidnapper fall person(aka ZFG), dispose of Caylee, and persuade Cindy to leave Casey and Caylee alone to BOND. Caylee was to NEVER be found so that Cindy could live with the hope she was still alive, either with Casey being the spiteful beatch, or at last resort the imaginanny. They have to stick together on THIS! And are they are still sticking to their stories, because neither one of them want Cindy to blame them for Caylee's death. Casey deviated from the script when she let the car get towed, and now look at where they are, George had to do something to deflect that smell to Cindy by telling her it was rotting pizza. Cindy knew better when she first smelled it, and George followed suit with the FBI, etc. because saving Cindy was his priority.

Valhall has a new section posted on her blog - comparing Casey to other recent "eraser" killers as she calls them. Hopefully the defense team will read it and just :truce: - give it up and beg for a plea.

Well....IMO...this new "sting" arrest of DB, from TES, with the drug trafficking (along with Ron and Misty).....is gonna open up a big box of fertilizer for Baez and company.

The defense HAS been requesting ALL of TES records for EVERYONE involved in the searches for Caylee....NOT just those in the area she was found.

I just can't help but feel with the bizarre "O-Towns Finest" letter rambling on about drugs, coupled with the arrest of DB for drugs, and she was associated with TES and the searches for Caylee....IIRC, she was with TES for those, no??

I just think the defense/Mort is gonna spin this all like a top....AND, I'll bet we're gonna see a whole bunch of other peoples reputations dragged thru the mud......all IMO

Just from reading the little that I have, I think there is much more to the DB story than meets the eye. IOW, she was chosen for a reason.

It is shameful on so many levels. The thing that gets me is that there is no consistent belief presented. First they 'knew' she was alive, then when the body was found, it wasn't her, then when it was verified as being Caylee, the innocent people were named.

Seriously, there is no consistency on the part of the defense. I'm really surprised Joy Wray wasn't blamed by the defense considering she was magically in the area where caylee was found, observing people and hanging out in the woods. There is no doubt the Anthony family will be blamed at trial.

There must be a lot of pushers in the Orlando area because while I was there in September my grandson and his girlfriend were approached a couple of times by someone wanting to sell them drugs. With all those people, what are the chances and in a family resort area?

I don't think anyone can dismiss anything as a possibility for "defense strategy". I anticipate their "strategies" to include any of, or a combination of these:
* discredit forensic info AL has stated in lectures that her cross IS the evidence
* "tell a story" (another AL common practice) to the extent that it suggests an alternative theory as to what happened and use that story to create reasonable doubt.
* fight for a plea immediately prior to trial in order to get the DP off the table
* continue on their path and leave the door open for AL to argue ineffective counsel based upon the actions of TL, JB, prior to her being retained.
* assume the conviction as a given and spend time focusing on mitigation and appeals.
* create enough chaos during trial to facilitate a mistrial.
* plan and facilitate a massive escape plan whereby KC will be airlifted from jail and hidden away in a secret bunker somewhere.....then claim that Zanny's connections are behond the whole thing.

(ummmmmmm I am joking about that last one but consider it the only plan that would work HaHa)

The important thing regarding her link to the good , good people of TES is that they disassociated themselves and their organization from her back in October. If the defense tries to smear Mr. Miller and TES because of one bad apple, shame on them! The jury will despise that!

ITA! The fact that she may have searched for Caylee doesn't have anything to do with the fact that Caylee was missing. KC has EVERYTHING to do with that. She knows all of the who, what, when, where, and whys of what happened to her daughter and refuses to say a word. I'm sure the defense will grasp at every straw they can to implicate anyone other than KC and to try and create that shadow of a doubt. It is their job after all. But it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Blech!
