Casey Kasem has passed away ~ Rest in peace, Casey

Huh? Kerri is one daughter: see below:

Casey Kasem's other daughter, Julie Kasem, and her husband, Dr. Jamil Aboulhosn, have said her father signed papers in 2007 giving them the power of attorney over his heath care in the event he was unable to make his own health decisions.
But Julie and Kerri Kasem and their brother, Mouner Kasem, have contended since last year that Jean Kasem has prevented the three from visiting their father.

He does have another daughter with Jean
Not talking about Jean's daughter Liberty with Casey- why don't Julie & son Mike get visiting privlidges???

:loveyou: Thank you LinasK!! I kept reading my post and wondering what words I left out, or how the meaning was of my post wasn't clear.

What you posted is exactly what I was meaning. So far the court orders have been for Kerri to have visitation, etc., but what about his other kids, and grandkids?? I would assume they want to see their Dad as well.

Hopefully with Mr. Kasey now being transferred to a hospital, his family can visit with him, and he'll get care for his ailments. BTW, bedsores are considered a type of neglect. Nursing homes do NOT want that on them. There's many ways to prevent a bedsore (aka pressure sore). Many nursing homes, nurses, etc have been sued over bedsores as neglect. I haven't worked in over 10 yrs now, but even then, we had legal conferences that I attended. It was a huge issue back then as well. You wouldn't believe the documentation, paper work, etc., when we admitted a patient into the nursing home or skilled care unit with a bedsore. You wanted to make sure ALL knew that it did NOT occur on your watch!!

Sadly, infections are so rampart in a bedsore, that Kasey might now be septic. I just pray he gets the care he deserves. Those sores are so painful for the patient. It's sad, and sickening.

:please:

I think Kerri's visitation is more about protection for the dad and a good observation than visitation on its own. From what I understand she is getting him a physical examination at this point..

I hear 'ya. I worked in nursing homes and home health for 13 years. I saw alot of bedsores that could've been prevented.

Well the thing is that all his children from a previous marriage have been written out of the will and they were all told about it years before. They know it and so does Jean. Jean is fully aware she and Liberty will get Casey's entire estate upon his death. So I don't think this is about bickering about the estate but I do think Jean is trying to ensure she gets the most she can out of his estate.

I've tea searched this case pretty thoroughly and read nowhere that the kids has been written out of the will. Can you direct me to the right place? All I read were statements by his kids that they didn't care about the money, that they determined years ago that they probably wouldn't see any, that they are self sufficient and that Jean doesn't need to worry about any will contest- all they want is access to their sad.

To me, that can mean that thy realize Jean, as executor, will not let them have whatever share they may be granted, and will do whatever she can via court proceedings or otherwise, to keep their inheritance from them, and/or that they think she's paranoid and believes they want access so they can get their dad to will everything to them, etc.

His other kids do have visiation already per court order. Jean had been violating that for five months though. I'm sure once he's stabilized in a facility and/ or they can fly up, they will visit.

Keri was the ONLY sibling who didn't sign the "settlement agreement" with Jean a few months back. From what I've read it was a completely one sided agreement with Jean giving little to nothing in terms of access to their father and NO access to what was going on with him medically. So I believe there might be something in the agreement that prevents them from joining Keri in the bid to get proper care for their father. I'm just glad she had the fortitude to not sign the agreement and know that Jean would never uphold her end of the agreement anyway, which sources have indicated she never did.

Gitana I read an article, it was mainstream I believe CBS I will have to try and find it again, that quoted Keri as saying years ago her father personally informed her that her and her siblings would not be included in the will and she said she was fine with that. And that it didn't come as a surprise and it did not affect their relationship. I think the same article indicated that Casey had set up a trust for his kids from the first marriage when his divorce was settled. But the children have no knowledge about what that includes.

That's what I've been saying:
“It’s just always been very cold that way," Mary Kasem said. "She’s the one that poisoned everybody. She keeps talking about all these toxic relationships but she’s the one that made it that way. She’s very, very possessive. It’s not just the kids he can’t see — it’s his brother, his cousins, his friends of 40 years.”

The rift in his family made Casey Kasem unhappy but he wasn’t willing to take drastic measures, Mary Kasem said.
“It stressed him out,” she said. “But he would always say he’s not going through another divorce. He’d say, ‘She’s getting better. She’s just so insecure.’"

After her acting career fizzled, Jean Kasem opened Little Miss Liberty Round Crib Company in 2004, a luxury children’s furniture company that makes round and heart-shaped cribs. But it never took off, and it’s unclear if it’s still operational.

The battle over her husband's care isn’t the only issue keeping Jean Kasem in court these days. In December, Casey Kasem’s former caretaker won a $10,000 judgment claiming that Jean Kasem caused her “emotional and mental distress” by accusing her of stealing “food, towels, and toilet paper,” according to court documents.

On June 30, Jean Kasem is scheduled to face off in a trial in Santa Monica with the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, who sued her for skipping out on $40,000 of the $1.7 million dollar bill. Jean Kasem has counter-sued the hotel.

Nuts.

Did anyone ever see Leave her to Heaven? Gene Tierney?? She is an obsessed wife who starts killing off people because she is so jealous?

So maybe Jean is not that far but it reminds me of that mindset. The I am not going to share them with anyone else thing...

So odd.

Update: Casey may end up going back to that house his wife is staying in. According to article the Judge was none too pleased with Jean's "press conference" on Friday when she released the audiotape. She pointed out that it was JEAN who was concerned about Casey's privacy at the last hearing.

Based on Jean's bizarre behavior, I can't understand why the judge would let Casey return to that house with her. Shouldn't he either stay in the hospital or return to a medical facility in California???

The fight is not about an inheritance, Kerri Kasem said.

"My dad told us a long time ago we were not in the will, and we're OK with that. We've known that for years," she said. "I've never asked him for anything, nor have I asked Jean for anything."

I thought I posted this before. Old age "memory". lol

I wasn't either. I was talking about Kerri and her siblings as the link specified. (see my post/link here: http://www.cnn.com/2014/05/31/showbiz/washington-state-casey-kasem-daughter-visit/) ALL of Kerri's siblings are standing with her, other than Jean/Casey's daughter, Liberty which I referenced.

Kerri was granted access per court order because Kerri brought the suit in the first place. (Just Kerri and a witness per court order to visit dad with NO photos, etc.) Courts take baby steps, most of the time, from my experience. JMO

What a mess.

It's just how judges talk. They can't state they have decided an issue until there is an evidentiary hearing. So even if it is obvious from the facts thus far, what is likely to be the outcome, the judge can't just tell the other side, "You're screwed." They have to be impartial. If the doctors stated, "Yes, Mr. Kasem had a momentary set back, but it could've happened with the best of care and there is nothing to suggest that the care he was receiving at that house was subpar and we find no reason to advise against him returning there." The judge would issue an order accordingly.

I have a feeling that won't happen though. Especially given Jean's bizarre behavior.

What gets me is how costly this all is. Two court cases now going on in two different states and the family has to fly back and forth for both, and be there for Mr. Kasem AND pay their attorney. The average family could not afford this level of litigation.

I hope you're right Gitana I would hate to see Casey go back to Jean's care. She is a unbalanced woman at this point, based on her behavior.

And you're right it is costly which is why Jean moved Casey to another State she was hoping it would be too expensive for the children to see their father and make any legal fight.

I know money to afford care isn't an issue, but, if Mr. Kasem does have a bedsore, it would qualify him for skilled care which Medicare pays for! Well, I guess it pays in all states, it does in VA. Likewise, if he has an infection, an IV antibiotic would qualify him for both a hospital stay, as well as skilled care. Depending on the severity of the bedsore, debridement might be needed, as well as daily treatments.

Can these things be taken care of at home? Well, money can buy anything, so I suppose so, perhaps a home health care facility would be willing to take him on as a client. But with all the chaos, some might decline as well.

Has anyone seen if he was admitted to the hospital??

Yeah, the last article I read said he was admitted to a hospital in Gig Harbor Washington.

Legendary radio host Casey Kasem is "very near the end of his life," his wife told a judge Monday and a doctor who saw him told the court Kasem has a 50 percent chance to survive for six months.

<<<snipped>>>

the judge chastised Kasem's wife for playing a video of him allegedly moaning and said if it happens again she'll take action.

http://www.kirotv.com/news/news/court-hearing-casey-kasem-case-scheduled-monday/ngCJ9/

I'm deeply saddened to hear of Casey's prognosis but I'm so glad to hear that the judge didn't appreciate the recording that Jean played either!

Prayers for Casey...
