BPD, in the context I am using it, is not bipolar disorder; it is borderline personality disorder. Current research shows that borderline personality disorder is *both* environmental and well as possibly genetic. For example, most borderlines think in black and white terms: there is no room for gray. Imo, Casey displayed this all or nothing me versus them behavior in her first call to her parents and to Lee and Christine. She said in the call that it was a huge waste of her time. To me that was evident that black and white thinking is something Casey engages in. I do think she is a high functioning borderline due to her ease in manipulating people. Some mental health professionals also classify borderline personality disorder as an individual (85% female) are chameleon like in their daily behaviors and moreover, in their relationships.

ETA: Both Cindy and Casey seem to meet all the DSM-IV criteria for Histrionic Personality Disorder. In the big picture, being histrionic compared to borderline or narcissistic is like peeing in the ocean:)

I understood you correctly to mean borderline personality disorder and not bipolar. The narcissism is what hit me when I watched first videos....black and white thinking...well...LE is definitely black in her world! I'd just be curious to see how she dealt with abondonment issues. Histrionic...I agree on that ...yep...Casey is going to be some case study!

With Susan Smith I think it was because LE was grilling her. Why on earth LE isn't allowed to grill Casey just blows my mind. I don't think there should be a law like this. Anyone with nothing to hide would be BEGGING for LE to talk to them to help them. This family (minus bro.Lee) seem to be a little odd to me. Maybe like they feel guilty about something. Not anything about Caylee because I don't think they are involved but like some deep dark family secret or something..it's just weird.
because Casey is arrested and has retained an attorney... that is the whole reason, I think?????

Did ya not get that impression when we first saw that smirky, devious smile from day one of walking in handcuffs?
ummm...yeah! it was a hypersexual saunter to that door with a gleam in her eyes...to say the least!

Exactly! Lots of murderers are seeing that the silence is keeping them from jail.

Like Cindy said and they do tell on themselves. Casey always tells me the truth eventually. We need a decoder but she tells the truth. Casey knew that car would be found. 24/7 lit business lot. Come save me from myself mommy dearest. I shudder to think!
But that was probably for much smaller lies, don't you think?

Ever since this case became news, I've wondered what would have happened if Casey hadn't abandoned the car, which resulted in it being towed to an impound yard and her parents notified, which in turn allowed them to find Casey? How long would this situation been allowed to go on?
You are right Leila! She did not plan on the car being found so soon IMHO. That is why she was flying off the cuff with her lies. I bet in other circumstances her lies made much more sense in terms of connectedness. She was caught off guard with her lies this time so they didn't all connect to dots even at face value. good observation!

I also wonder what if Grandma did give her that "extra" day to produce Caylee...I think casey would have taken off. Maybe that's what all the purchases were about.

Ya know when you think about it...doesn't *a biological vulnerability* kind of sound like *possibly genetic*??? Whatever...I can sure vouch that the environmental (pts) factor was Cindy! Poor gpa and lee living in all that chaos!

I suggested today they should and let him/her run down the 100s of ZGs (if they're so sure the nanny exists).

Egads, can you imagine being the PI working for Cindy?

I am a PI and she couldn't afford the retainer I'd put on her! lol
