But the 911 call says she said it smelled like a dead body in the damn car" I am sure that was registered to the arriving officers. I would HOPE so!

I would hope so too, but who knows with 911 operators if they even told LE that when they called in.

I'm not very fond of what I'm hearing about some of the 911 operators lately.

I think Cindy was doing all she could to make Casey tell her what happened to Caylee.

I think so also. Cindy is so calm in the first call but an hour later, she knows Casey wasn't just trying to keep her away from Caylee..... now she KNOWS that Casey 'lost' Caylee & she's frantic with worry.

Did Cindy actually say that there was pizza in the trunk? I haven't watched and read everything, but I was under the impression that she used pizza as an example - to explain that other things, not necessarily just a dead body, could leave that awful smell.
YES they actually said there was pizza in the trunk when they got the car back, and showed the cop the pizza in their trash as evidence, which was collected..

If I was LE I would play those tapes to Casey and say "HEAR how your mother sounds! That's how you should sound!!!!! Listen to yourself???? Does it sound like a mother that has had her kid kidnapped???????"

Unfortunately I am sure that she is going to have an insanity plea,.....

Maybe inbetween the first 'calm' 911 call and the second FRANTIC one they may have opened the trunk and found Caylee's body. Just IMO.
If the car smelled that bad, wouldn't someone at the impound lot have done at least a cursory check?

After listening to this 911 call.... I don't believe Cindy had anything to do with it. Now she is in Mother Bear mode protecting her cub and in a lot of denial. Casey is a bad seed, a sociopath. IMO

i believe you're 100% correct on that!

If that were the case and they wanted to "cover" for Casey, Cindy would not have announced to the police that the trunk smelled like a dead body.

Anyone know what the attorney's press confrence had to say since they were held at different locations at the same time????

I read that 1st Cindy called to report her daughter STOLE things & then that Caylee was missing.....

We had unexpected company for the past hour, and just before the arrived I listened to the two 911 calls twice.

Two very important things.......in the first call Cindy wants her daughter arrested for stealing a car, described as a 1998 Pontiac, and for stealing money. In this first call, Cindy is firm, and angry.

In the second call, Cindy is reporting that her granddaughter is missing and in this call she's distraught and crying. She says they've recovered the car and it "smells like a dead body was in it!" She puts Casey on the phone and Casey is calm, cool, and collected. She answers the operator's questions - she left her daughter with Zanaida Fernandez-Gonzoles 31 days ago and hasn't seen her since. Casey even told the operator there's a hyphen in the name. She's been conducting her own investigation.

One of the things that is throwing me is Cindy testified that she had spoken to Casey everyday and Casey always had an excuse for why she couldnt speak to Caylee. In the 911 calls she says that Casey had been missing for a month and she just now found her?

:bang:Hi - I am new here so please forgive me if this is old news...We get the released 911 calls in which GM reveals it smells like a dead body...Did I not see her ealier on Fox proclaiming that with her nursing background and husband's LE background - they KNEW what decomp smelled like and that it was only pizza...(?)

Perhaps every member of that family needs to take a deep breath and come out with what they DO know...

Just my opinion - you all have done a great job on this board - glad to me a new member!

Peace -
Raelynn

In all fairness to Cindy, has anyone ever used the phrase " smells like a dead body" just to describe a bad odor ? I have and I really do not even know what a dead body smells like. Could she have just used that term to describe that the car smelled bad?

Thanks Aimee - I am astounded to hear Gma admit that the car smelled of dead body after all her pizza blustering. I actually feel sorry for this woman. I realise she is a pain, but I can not and do not want to even imagine what I might be like in such a situation. Recognizing dead smell, knowing that my daughter was lying about it, and not being able to locate my grandchild... Oh my, just typing that is difficult.

Salem

your welcome. :blowkiss: Glad you finally got a link to work.

Whew! Thanks, Guys for trying to help me. I finally just downloaded the active x control to listen. Ugh.

Well...I am still not ready to concede on the grandmother just yet. Yes, I hear her crying. Yes, I hear she is upset. However, we do not know what really was going on for two hours. Cindy knew that Caylee was missing on the first call and did not sound like she was upset about it then. Why not?! She was more interested in the car and the cash at that point. It was an afterthought that Caylee was mentioned at all.

I think I owe Cindy an apology. I guess no one knows how someone will react put in her situation. I really believe she did what she thought was right. I wouldn't want to be in her shoes for any amount of money. She is trying.

Talk about a major change of emotion.

OME

I think after she has realized Caylee is gone, she knows Casey's only shot would be if her remains are never found. I am trying no to judge, but the thought of my baby/grandbaby out there in the trash somewhere would eat at my soul, regardless of the price to Casey.
I agree. This has a 'not guilty due to mental defect' plea written all over it.

very good point....she wouldn't have mentioned the car smelling like a dead body, had her or her husband been involved with disposing of Caylee's body....

I still think they may have initially believed that it was Casey's body, or both Casey and Caylee, thus the calls to Casey's friends that after all, could have been made weeks earlier.

Yes, I agree, but I do not think that pizza was ever in that car.. I think it was a think fast when they actually knew Caylee was missing

That's very possible.

They could have hidden the body until after LE left.

I'd like to know who was at the house when LE showed up... how long LE was there & who was still home AFTER LE left.

Would they have moved the body that night?

I just listened to the 2nd 911 call and I am now convinced that Cindy had nothing to do with this. I think right now she's in a state of complete denial, and I can't say I wouldn't do the same. She wants so badly to believe her daughter, to believe that her daughter is not capable of this, and to believe her granddaughter is alive - that she is not able to see what the rest of us see - that Casey is a liar and most likely is responsible for her daughter's death. :( I felt sick listening to that 911 call. Cindy sounds so upset, completely distraught - as any grandmother would. When Casey gets on the phone, she sounds calm as can be....she could be discussing the weather or something with that calm voice. It really was creepy hearing that. God I hope little Caylee is alive. That 911 call brought me to tears. :(

It might not of smelled bad on the 30th when they towed it. Depending on how big the lot is, it could of been parked with bunches of other cars no one would pay any attention to it until someone came to recover the vehicle.

If the car smelled that bad, wouldn't someone at the impound lot have done at least a cursory check?
