I think this is what happened,.. they got the car and they were like damn Casey. And then they searched the car to find out clues of where she could be. Smelled the trunk and got really worried and scared and had to find Casey right away! Found the address or phone number of Amy. Called it. Seemed relieved that they found Casey. GM went to get Casey, saw Caylee wasn't with her. Casey tells her lies of Caylee is with the babysitter. The first phone call to 911 was made. A tactic to get Casey to let GM see Caylee. Then afterwards Casey tells them the "truth" according to Casey, Zannie stole CAylee I haven't seen her in 31 days.

One of the things that is throwing me is Cindy testified that she had spoken to Casey everyday and Casey always had an excuse for why she couldnt speak to Caylee. In the 911 calls she says that Casey had been missing for a month and she just now found her?

Oh, now you are going to make me retract my last post.....I forgot about that.

Ok, Cindy is the opitome drama queen. Of course, she is going to say whatever she needs to, to get the cops there and to make Casey fess up.

911 call on Fox now. Why do I think they will not play it in whole, and just sensationalize this. Sounds like they are combining the 2 calls.

OME

If that were the case and they wanted to "cover" for Casey, Cindy would not have announced to the police that the trunk smelled like a dead body.

You may be right - however - Casey, at least has proven that she has no qualms lying to everyone about even the most innocent things...Perhaps GM took a cue from Casey after LE arrived and went with the pizza story. Maybe, and this is giving GM a great deal of credit - GM talked of the smell of dead body in a last ditch effort to shake Casey up...

Fox is on now...

Excellent point! Casey wasn't missing. Besides, we can't forget that the video clearly shows that Caylee was with Cindy on June 15th. In the call she said the 7th, told LE it was the 8th or 9th, and they had to confront her about the video taken on the 15th.

I think before we all are swayed by the emotion this call has obviously raised...we need to stop and take stock in everything we do know so far.

911 call - 7.15.08 - 8:44pm

911 call - 7.15.08 - 9:41pm

Almost a full hour in between 911 calls.....

Casey: 'Oh by the way mom, I misplaced Caylee last month. But don't worry, I've been investigating her disappearance?' lol

I think Casey was PISSED off at her mother for calling police & probably relished the thought of dropping this bomb on her right before they showed up at her mother's house.

Just speculation but..............maybe Cindy drove George to the impound yard and dropped him off to drive the car home. She proceeded home in her own car. In the hour since the first call to 911, George has arrived home with the Pontiac and says it smells like a dead body in the car. They question Casey and learn that Caylee is missing.

That's what prompted the second call.

In all fairness to Cindy, has anyone ever used the phrase " smells like a dead body" just to describe a bad odor ? I have and I really do not even know what a dead body smells like. Could she have just used that term to describe that the car smelled bad?

good post, i was going to mention this but didnt want to deal with the fallout lol.

i have been consistent from the start that caylee is unfortunately probably dead, and that casey either did it or at least knows damn well what happened to her. imo. and that the grandmother is an innocent victim in all this that responded very badly and desperately wants to think that her granddaughter is alive and that her daughter didnt kill her baby.

im also trying to approach the evidence with as little speculation as possible regarding what is PROVEN versus what is LIKELY.

that doesnt seem to be very popular around here, but im not here to make friends. im here to discuss cases.

I took it as Cindy found Casey after a month of looking for her and was ticked about the car, but thought Casey just wouldnt tell her where Caylee was.

Then on the second call she is frantic and says that Casey admitted she didnt know where Caylee was that Zanny had her.

Whew! Thanks, Guys for trying to help me. I finally just downloaded the active x control to listen. Ugh.

Well...I am still not ready to concede on the grandmother just yet. Yes, I hear her crying. Yes, I hear she is upset. However, we do not know what really was going on for two hours. Cindy knew that Caylee was missing on the first call and did not sound like she was upset about it then. Why not?! She was more interested in the car and the cash at that point. It was an afterthought that Caylee was mentioned at all.

I think she's protecting her. Florida has the death penalty.

I just listened to the 2nd 911 call and I am now convinced that Cindy had nothing to do with this. I think right now she's in a state of complete denial, and I can't say I wouldn't do the same. She wants so badly to believe her daughter, to believe that her daughter is not capable of this, and to believe her granddaughter is alive - that she is not able to see what the rest of us see - that Casey is a liar and most likely is responsible for her daughter's death. :( I felt sick listening to that 911 call. Cindy sounds so upset, completely distraught - as any grandmother would. When Casey gets on the phone, she sounds calm as can be....she could be discussing the weather or something with that calm voice. It really was creepy hearing that. God I hope little Caylee is alive. That 911 call brought me to tears. :(

ETA: Sorry for double posting!

As to the "pizza weigh in..." I do not disagree that perhaps there could have been rotten pizza in a car...Rotten food is horrendous to smell...But GM said in on on air interview that she knew the difference between decomp & rotten pizza because of her & GP's professional background(s).

Peace - Raelynn

As the mother of a 23-year-old, I can tell you that weeks-old pizza smells nothing like a dead body. Pizza meat, because it has been processed with nitrates, smells nothing like rotting fresh meat. In fact, the meat really doesn't have much of a smell.

I also no longer think Cindy had anything to do with Caylees disappearance. I actually felt sorry for Cindy when I heard the call. Why is she defending her daughter so much now? She said the car smells like there was a dead body in it, now she says it was rotten pizza. They had the car for two days (IIRC) before they found Casey. I think she went off the deep end.

i don't think its that she's defending her daughter as much as she's denying something has happened to Caylee. if she believes the smell was caused by pizza that means there is hope Caylee is still alive. if she believes what her daughter says about giving Caylee to someone that means she's alive. to not defend that, to not believe that means she has to believe the alternative...Caylee may be dead.

the GM says even TODAY, after the 911 calls were released, that the smell in the car was from rotting pizza.....good grief

per foxnews

How can they report the car stolen when it was stated that it was "given" to Casey previously? Now, the credit card use they can threaten charges for since I am sure those were without consent.

  • #455
In my opinion the 911 calls are what is accurate, then Cindy went in to cover for her daughter mode and the lies began.

  • #456
Fox News reporter is reporting from outside the house and interviewed Cindy about the 911 call and how she said the car smelled like a dead body.

She maintains that it was the pizza that was left in the car, and went on to say they believe in Casey and she's innocent.

  • #457
YES they actually said there was pizza in the trunk when they got the car back, and showed the cop the pizza in their trash as evidence, which was collected..

Do you have a link for that? This is the only thing I'm finding about pizza in Cindy's comments:

"Do me a favor," the grandmother said, "put a little piece of pizza or garbage in your car and leave it shut up for 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 days......"

That's not the same as saying there actually was pizza found in the car.

I have a teenage son - his room can get rather foul - I have asked him jokingly what animal he had buried in his closet...But I do not run around explaining that "due to my professional background - I know the difference between decomp & rotten pizza"...

very good point....she wouldn't have mentioned the car smelling like a dead body, had her or her husband been involved with disposing of Caylee's body....
bingo!!! Exactly. While she is a trainwreck that we all love/hate to watch, she has nothing to do with Caylee gone missing.

Bingo. That's a completely unguarded, visceral moment, IMO.
