I dont think he is a public defender, on Caseys records a public defender was appointed and then withdrawn, Baez is listed as her attorney but not a public defender.

Baez is a public defender, isn't he? Per OCPD records, that is his designation

I'll bet Tony hasn't been contacting her in jail either and she's upset about it.
I'd think he's probably sorry he ever met her! MOO, of course. :)

I realize that is the opinion of some people and they are entitled to that opinion, however I don't see why every comment regarding Cindy, even when she's done something right, needs to contain digs. Perhaps that's part of what is generating the negative perception.

glad to see others saying this I have said this for awhile now, it's easy for us to pass judgement while we sit at home knowing 99% chance we'll NEVER be in her shoes!

"Another thing, in Lee's most recent interview before Casey refused to see him, the reporters asked him about the claim that Casey talked to Caylee on the phone on the 15th, but we've been told this did not occur. His reply was that there were several private/blocked numbers on that day. I wonder if there is any truth to this and if so why would it be released as another of Casey's lies if the police couldn't be positive the call didn't occur. Is Lee lying?"

I remember that interview and Lee's quote.

One possibility is that Lee is looking at a copy of Casey's phone records that was obtained by the family from the phone company. If so, any incoming calls from anonymous numbers would remain anonymous on Lee's copy so as not to compromise the identity of the caller who wished for his or her caller ID not to show up.

However, the phone records that LE receives contain all the actual numbers of incoming calls, whether anonymous or not. The phone company will pierce the privacy of the caller for LE. So LE would know the identity of all incoming callers to Casey's cell phone, even though Lee might not.

The other possibility is that Lee is lying.

Or both of the above. That Lee is aware that LE has the identity of the callers that are designated as anonymous on his copy of the phone records, but is knowingly not clarifying this to the media.

I read a Cindyspeak the other day in which she talked about Casey's friends contacting her for advice on whether to speak publicly.

She advised them not to because of the intensity of the media pressure, telling them "Your life won't be the same."

Of course in her case, that's very true.

On the other hand, I'm not sure Cindy is someone I'd go to for advice of any kind. Well, maybe if I had an orthopedic issue.

Cindy from the onset of the creation of Caylee's flyer where she specifically asked if any friends or family members were contacted by the press not to talk, has been very deliberate about not wanting anyone to talk to the media. Specifically, a poster on here said that she had contacted Patrick Bourgeouis after his visit to Casey specifically.

Suffice it to say I think she is an authority on the concept that there is no-one lining up to say anything to contradict what has already been put out there, so we can assume she is asking no-one to talk because they would not have anything positive to say.
Please refrain from giving me the Captain Obvious Award for today :)

I thought that I heard of public defenders being chosen by the defendent.
Am I wrong. Can a defendent request a lawyer who agrees to work as a public defender?

Maybe I saw that in a movie... lol
Sad, I know.

If she goes to trial.... Court TV should NOT run it... or put a big DOT over her face so she can't feel she's getting so much attention.
I believe just the opposite. If and when this case goes to trial all the LIES will come out one by one. She will have to sit there and not say a word..not one more lie can come out her mouth. That will be the attorneys job. think she will have to sit there and have the world know of her lies. That will get the best of her.

What is it you think she's done right?

Ok they say they know who she is with, but for as much as they have been on national tv not one of them the grandmother, grandfather, and brother have begged and pleaded with any one to return the child anywhere like to a safe place or anywhere for that matter. That is strange to me I would be begging and pleading with this person to give the girl up and hand her over to someone.

Also for as long as she has had the nanny funny there are no pictures of her.
I've noticed that also, which leads me to think they don't really believe Casey's nanny-abduction story either.

IMO she has basically done 2 things right, she wrote that post on July 3rd on her blog that contained "her truth", she called 911 on her daughter and the inability to get to the truth of where Caylee is. Caylee is the victim, the rest of the world was old enough and smart enough to deal with Casey in a way to protect themselves. Obviously many chose to look the other way for far too long.

Lee has actually made that plea, saying that if anyone has Caylee to let her go and they can have him instead. Not as dramatic as some of the pleas that have been heard, but at least it's something.

What did she do wrong in advising Casey's friends that they might be better off to avoid the media attention? :waitasec:

If Cindy had a PR coach, she would be able to change the way she personally is perceived by the public. She believes, somewhat naively, people will just "understand". Well, the fact is, they don't.

The best I've seen her thus far was the original airing of Greta's interview lst week...and that was basted last night when on Greta's special Cindy stated that Casey would be "mother of the year" when the truth came out. It's statements like that which, unfortunately, makes those watching her and who follow the case feel as though they're being told they "all wrong." She took 2 step forwards and 3 steps back by that emphatic assertion.

I think she's very angry that they haven't bailed her out.

ITA- Maybe it's telling them- "You want to talk to me? Get me out."

I just look at that as her being an mom to Casey, she knows there are many more dog walking stories out there.

I don't think she had to say anything, I belive we will be seeing them when they testify in court, they have probably been told by LE not to say anything.

Cindy is much better one on one, even George being there seems to amp her up a bit.
