Caylee may be cremated

No one is going to need a 3rd autopsy. The 2 autopsies - one for prosecution and one for defense are more than enough to satisfy both sides. By that logic, no murder victim should ever be cremated and that just doesn't make any sense. There is no doubt in my mind that Casey will be convicted and that she would have been convicted even if the body was never found.

I respectfully disagree. My aunts wishes are to be cremated, does that mean that if she is murdered that her family should not carry out her wishes?, because it doesn't make sense?

What I don't understand is why EVERYTHING has to be some sort of conspiracy to destroy evidence or hide this or spin that. Put yourself in their shoes...

In this situation I would probably go with cremation - not just for the grave-robber angle but also because I would not want to put child's or grandchild's bones in a beautiful coffin. When we place our loved ones in a coffin - it's much more for us - so we can see our loved one in a beautiful place to rest for eternity - this is for us. To soothe our minds and our broken hearts. The body is only a vessel - a vehicle for the soul while it's here. Caylee is not in some cardboard box - Caylee is free of all of this world's bindings.

Furthermore, I believe that LE/ME likely went to great pains to investigate the remains and preserve evidence. I believe they would ahve been very thurough in any case - but especially such a high-profile case. I can't imagine why they'd need to exhume the remains later...

I myself want to be cremated. Why spend $ on a beautiful box to place in the ground? I've never understood... I want my family to keep the $ and take care of themselves when I go.

I don't think I was clear. I completely agree with you. I was saying that by the logic being used in this case it implies that no murder victim should ever be cremated and I don't agree with that at all as I think that a family should have final choice.

Because with this video and DC digging and probing - he could have very easily caused damage without finding her and LE and the FBI knows this.

Just an opinion, but I'd guess LE and the ME have done a thorough job with the autopsy and site investigation and any potential evidence has been collected and/or noted. I think cremation should be the way to go. She deserves some dignity.

They are usually kept in a plastic box until picked up by the family. At that time the family can have the ashes placed in an urn. Some people keep the ashes and never get rid of them but some like to still have a burial to show respect for the person.

My Mom was cremated, she was in a bag, in a gold box until we took her to the cemetary - she was then put in a gold sturdier box, and then placed in a cement casing in the ground

I'm sure thats how, if Caylee is cremated, will be buried - I'm sure her grave will be covered in flowers and toys for a very long time to come

I just pray that they find peace and comfort in whatever they decide to do. After all CA and GA did love Caylee and she would want them to have comfort at this time. I believe she is seeing the hate being shown to two people she loved. If people were treating your GParents the way some treat hers, I know I would not be able to rest in peace.

I heard she had already been cremated on Dec. 29. If so, this is so typical of the spin that has been prevalent during this whole case.

I heard that on the 29th is when the second autopsy was done. I believe Baez said nothing would be done with her remains till they were finished with their side of things. That was in court the other day, he said he didn't want to have to exhume her later if they needed more testing.

The public doesn't have a "right" to Caylee. I think your statement is grossly unfair in that way. Why should they want their granddaughter's grave to be a tourist attraction? By your logic, one should also condemn the many other parents of children who have gone missing/were murdered who chose to have their children cremated. This is such a personal choice and it is their choice and no one else's. I can't believe anyone would try to infringe upon such a personal choice and think that because they read about this little girl or saw her on TV that they have any kind of right to her body.

I think people are reading waaaay too much into this. There's nothing wrong with cremation and nobody has any right putting their own personal preference or stigma on how somebody else should lay their loved ones to rest.

I believe if you read back, you will find where the Anthonys talked about burying Caylee. This appears to me to be doing the complete opposite of what they wanted for the baby. I am not surprised, but I am interested in WHY Baez was given the authority instead of them.

The ONLY reason that I can see is because they are going to say one or both of them killed Caylee.

I think it's incredibly disgusting that Baez has custodial authority over her body and by not doing the right thing here and laying her to rest he's making a horrible PR move. You don't want potential jurors to hate you and take it out on your client (even though she'll be convicted anyway.)

Nothing surprises me in this case, but if they do try to make a case that George or Cindy killed Caylee it will be so disgustingly sad and so beyond cruel.

If they REALLY wanted to do something for other children as they CLAIM on their space to collect money - they would donate her remains to Bill Bass's skeleton collection at the University of Tennessee Anthropology department where it can be used for study and help in determining other murder cases.

Of course we KNOW that won't happen, because they just might find something that the ME missed.

I'm new here so am unfamiliar with those posts. I truly hope your prediction does not come to fruition, but I do believe there will be so many more twists before and during the trial.

As far as further testing years down the road: Casey will have long gone to trial... if convicted, further testing would only be done to get her off. If she is not convicted, further testing would almost be unusable against Casey because of double jeopardy.
