Caylee-Search Diver Resigned As Deputy After Lying To Captain

Lord knows I'm not perfect. I guess that means I better not try and help. Don't want my life splashed across the news and the internet. That would be rather harsh for my family.

But the fact is that he didn't find anything. So why be exposed and discredited now? It serves no purpose that I can understand.

We should all, me included, go back and read Tricia's first sticky about "Negative Posting."

Sigh, I agree... The poor guy. The way I see it is that he made a serious mistake in the past and has moved on.

Unfortunately for all involved, IMO it all goes back to the scene being a media circus. Media loves to play things out as long as they can and dig and dig to prolong the 5 minutes. Sometimes people like this guy just turn into fodder for the media, they don't give a darn about who they hurt in the process. They will turn on others before this is through, because their only loyalty is to the story and the masses who digest it, and scandal sells.

I do agree with TruthSeeker about the defense trying to use someones past to establish credibility or a lack thereof. Would it work? I doubt it, but it is a common tactic and would serve to muddy the waters that much more.

I was wondering why TES wanted info about felony convictions...I guess this is why.
It would be terrible if someone found something (especially if they were ALONE in finding it) important and it was discredited in court by the defense because the person who found it was less than honest...

"Blackwater Divers led the search last week in the Little Econ River. Bosinski gave Eyewitness News a hard time when we asked to see the bag of what he said were bones that he had pulled from the river that he said could be Caylee Anthony's bones. Sheriff's and FBI investigators had already dismissed them as nothing more than rocks from the river bed."

Snipped from http://www.wftv.com/news/18009642/detail.html. Bolding's mine.

I think the bolding has more to do with this particular character assassination than anything. Sounds a little like revenge to me.

You know, it's interesting that authorities rushed there & discounted everything immediately BUT they did take the junk & the 'rocks' into evidence and demanded LP take a lie detector test and now there's this nasty outing of the diver who pulled it from the river.

All this over a bunch of rocks pulled from a lake in a public park?

The whole thing sounds so nasty, petty & hinky.

Just another "It's all about Caylee" kind of day in Orlando, I guess.

Does TES do full background.... employee, credit, criminal, etc..... checks on all volunteers it uses?

It's a question on their application that you have to answer and sign; but no more than that.

Sorry, that was too vague. They ask if you've had any felony convictions.

Thanks.

So, a questionable volunteer could slip into a TES search just as easily as an LP search or any other search.... and we're back to the same problem verifying that a search was done 100% according to LE standards.

And as a matter of fact, THIS gentlemen would have been acceptable by TES standards as well. (Even though he's a braggard & lied to the captain about being a bigshot in the military)

If someone wanted to be involved bad enough, all it would take is to lie on the volunteer application. *sigh*
I guess there's no real "good way" to know exactly who you are dealing with, until it's maybe too late...

"Bosinski gave Eyewitness News a hard time when we asked to see the bag of what he said were bones that he had pulled from the river that he said could be Caylee Anthony's bones."

Maybe because he thought they were Caylee's bones at the time and didnt find it appropriate for them to be passed around and gawked at like it was show & tell? If I was searching and found someone's bones I sure wouldnt be letting news cameras see them either.

Lies and testimony...

The weight on my driver's license is 15 pounds lighter than I am because I don't want my husband to know how much I weigh. If ANYONE asks me how much I weigh I won't tell the truth. I have friends that have shaved years off their age while online dating. Lots of them use pictures that look a million times better than they do on their profile.

I tell a lie everytime I show ID. All of the people who use glamour shots or have fudged their age are misrepresenting themselves to look better than they are.

But, if we admitted to our transgressions on the stand and gave truthful testimony we would not be impeached.

IF the diver admitted to his previous sin on the stand and then continued to testify truthfully, he'd be credible. People with checkered pasts (including forensic expert Dr. Lee) testify all the time.

I am still wondering why a diver that found NOTHING and that will never testify was publically smeared...

Well, something certainly seems off there too.

If he'd had a military backround at all (Special Forces or not) that would have all been hashed over in the lengthy investigation process that happens prior to even being presented a formal job offer. Either Todd is stupid (why lie when the department already KNOWS your past?) or there really is more going on than we know....which wouldn't surprise me.

As for why this matters,....I don't think it does. He donated his time to help search for a missing child, when, oh, thats right.....OCSO isn't doing diddly squat.

The case politics involved here are far worse than any political mud slinging I have ever seen

Let me preface this post by saying I have NO judgements about either LP or the Blackwater diver. Searching for Caylee is a wonderful thing...and I wish I lived closer so that I could have participated in the searches. But the long and short of it is that LE and the FBI are worried that somebody is planting evidence. Worried enough that LP is slated for a polygraph. There has to be a reason they are concerned. If there was planted evidence it doesn't necessarily mean that LP or the diver have anything to do with. Obviously they would come into question since they're heading up the search.

But if there is false evidence being planted ,LE has to cross their Ts and dot their Is. Otherwise Casey Anthony could end up walking away free as a bird. And nobody wants that.

It's called the "Stolen Valor Act" of 2005. It's a federal offense to lie about military service and veterans as myself take this very seriously. We are sick and tired of people pretending how great they were in the military to impress people, only to find out it's all a lie. There is no excuse for it and it's shameful. If you've served you'd understand.

The "Stolen Valor Act" ONLY addresses the illegal/unauthorized use/sale or manufacture of military MEDALS & decorations.

It has nothing to do with making it a crime to lie about serving in the military or even claiming you fought in imaginary battles.

I'll agree, it's reprehensible to lie to people about serving but this guy did NOT lie in order to further his career... he lied because he was a braggart trying to impress people he barely knew. I bet he told plenty of 'lies' in the proverbial 'locker room' as well.

My son IS serving.

So did his dad, my ex.

My father-in-law is a World War II vet who was the sole survivor of his squadron's landing on Omaha Beach. He is the founder of our area's Celebrate America on July 4 (a dedication to veterans). He also was the main fundraiser for a veteran's memorial at Black Squirrel Park. My husband and I also contributed to the memorial. We are annual Celebrate America sponsors.

I fully support veterans.

BUT... I still say, the blackwater diver did NOT represent himself in an official capacity. He was a volunteer searcher just like the people on foot. The criteria for being a volunteer searcher is no felony convictions...it should be the same for EVERY volunteer.

I stand by my point that it was wrong to make this private citizen's dirty laundry public. It would be wrong to do it to any volunteer.

IMO

Everybody has a past-even you and me-some more colorful than others...but these folks aren't running for public office, they're simply trying to locate a little girl that has captured the hearts of millions. Some of them may even be attracted to the case by KC-anyone who has ever told a lie can look and say CA is right about liars not being murderers by default. I've told a few whoppers in my time, but I don't steal and I don't hurt/kill people. I don't care what the motivation is, as long as they are making an effort to find Caylee. I don't care if they make $$, get famous, or fall in love in the process.
