I'm referring to this interview, where she said one phone wasn't working:
Baby Lisa's Parents Take Questions From Reporters - YouTube

I live about an hour south, and have been really following this case. it's maddening, that's for sure.
They talked to LE before this though. Her phone wasn't working and we don't know if the interview was cut or not. There is a lot of information that wasn't stated in this very short interview.

bbm...where in the linked article is the bolded info? I don't see it.

edit: i've looked a bit and haven't found an article that says cell phones ping when they are powered off. I'm going with the theory that cell phones must be powered on to ping.

The bolded words in your link are mine. The quote from the article says they always ping, especially when on. Which implies when they are off as that is the only alternative I can think of. However there was an article linked earlier that talks about FBI being able to turn on microphones and listen to convo's remotely. I believe that I learned what I know about cell phone pings from the Kyron Horman case, the gist of which was, if you don't want to be caught in your criminal activity leave your phone at home or take the battery out.

At any rate in my original post on this subject I did start out with "I think".

Hope that is a little clearer. I am not trying to pretend I am an expert on cell pinging, lol.

The last phone ping at 3:27 am and Ji getting home approx 3:45 am. for her to be able to ditch the phones in this timeframe. Some were asking if she could have put them in the river in this time or take them to the woods.

I did not think of that before this, we didn't know about the "phones" until what the second day. What if? The phones could have still been in the house and hid. It was "jeremy's work phone" that the 911 call was made from, for all we know the "3" phones that are missing could have still been on the property. The police would not have known about the phones to even ask for them until Deborah and Jeremy said they were taken 2-3 days later.

I remember when LE was looking for Elizabeth Olten and they had a ping from her phone but could not find her they searched by air and foot to no endin the woods behind her home. Then they finally got the "trash" sorry to confess and she walked them to Elizabeth where the grave was. The phone was with her.

My thoughts/questions on the cell phones (I'm getting ready for work and don't have time to go back through the threads)-

*I'm assuming there are times related to the pings.
*I'm also assuming that pings are not exact locations like GPS but communications with the nearest towers.

That said (forgive me if it has already been discussed to death)- I have had a house broken into before. When I was asked what I noticed was missing, the police did not ask me to "go check your purse to make sure that item is missing.." They never suggested that what I said was missing might actually be misplaced. They didn't pat me down to verify that what I said was gone, was actually gone. This got me thinking about the missing cell phones.

Is it possible that the phones were still in posession of one of the key players until a later time? Like hidden in a purse, suitcase, pocket, etc.. THEN later the battery removed (somewhere in that 1/3 mile radius thus stopping the ping activity) and then the phone discarded far far away?

Just speculating and thinking out loud.

I don't know if a member of the family is responsible for Pumpkin Pie being gone or if SODDI. I really don't know. I tend to lean ever so slightly toward a family member or an aquaintance being responsible, but I just don't know what to think. :waitasec:

I am sure by the way things went that LE was aware of the phones on day 1. WE just didn't know about them until 2-3 days later. They were around here day 1 with metal detectors, so I am sure that is what they were looking for.

•Cell phone owners are responsible for all charges that are incurred prior to the point that the cell phone is reported lost or stolen. Keeping in mind that the "average" thief steals a cell phone to use it rather than sell it, these charges can be significant.
According to this website i found http://www.squidoo.com/stolen-cell-phones most cell phone theives steal them to use them more than sell...now if he stole the phones and couldnt get any of them to work probably just threw them in the river to get rid of evidence..imo

I'm sure LE wants those phones as much as DB/JI do not want those phones found. JMO! It's obvious, from the Irwin/Bradley camp, these missing phones are part of their SODDI theory, defense. Those phones are mentioned by them, more than Baby Lisa. :furious:

That may be, but why mention the phones in the first place if you don't want them found. IMO Just a thought...still:fence:.

How can it be proved you were in the woods hunting and not somewhere else .And my ex is a hunter. He never goes for a week. At most a couple days.
And if he was gone for the entire week hunting you would think he had at least the tags to prove it. Gone for an entire week he should also have at least something to show for it or he is an awful lousy hunter.

Well, if that's the case, I think it's theoretically possible she could have done just that. Not that I have any proof. I don't think she could have made it to the river and back in 15 minutes, but the woods, sure.

But the woods have been searched extensively from what I understand. If she was blackout drunk (some believe, some don't) how could she pull all this off in 15 minutes w/o a trace of Lisa or the phones? I just don't understand. I also don't know if I could call on anybody, friend or family, to help me dispose of a body; nor would I help anyone.

I really feel like Lisa is still alive somewhere. I think at this point, she is not really close either. I think that may be why LE/FBI was so willing to check out the NY thing too. That said, I am not opposed to the DB did it theory... I just don't know how she could have pulled it off w/ no traces left. Just very confused here and thinking out-loud.

I think the case stems on the phone activity. I believe the calls were "attempted", but if the 11:57 call didn't go through then why does LE want to talk to Dane again?

BBM

I can't speak for those who firmly believe DB is guilty of something, but IMO if you do believe that (I'm personally on the fence), I don't see how you can accept the drunk part of the equation. Knowing the times of the calls (assuming they are accurate), it is nigh impossible to do this and cover it up in such a way that nothing substantial has been located while being piss drunk. The 15 minute windows between the last vm attempt and when JI walks in the door make it rather difficult for a sober person.

He may truly have nothing to do with this case. Who knows?

If he doesn't and he has just a little bit of a conscience then he may have wanted to get away simply because he felt guilty for blowing off LE when they called at 8:30am on the 4th.

I know that I would feel terrible and want to crawl under a rock and hide if I thought I could have made a difference in this case but instead treated the call from detectives as a joke.

He may have put LE behind by four days because of this.

All JMO.

I think LE knew the phones were gone immediately. In the above linked interview the missing phones were talked about. I don't know the date of that interview though. :twocents:

But having a job doesn't seem to be a priority w/ some of the players in this case. jmo

Unless you own your own land, hunting is an expensive sport. A deer lease where I live is $$$$$$$$. Wonder where he was hunting, who owns the land, what was he hunting, does he have a license, did he tag anything, did others go with him, how did he get there??????????????
