Defense 1st witness is Cpl. Viviana Martinez. Active duty USMC; 4 yrs. Stationed at Camp Lejeune. Knew Maria; met her in 2007; was her roommate for 4-5 months until Maria moved off base. State objecting to what Maria may have told witness. Conference at the judge's bench.

Question about Maria keeping her baby or giving it up for adoption. Witness says Maria talked about giving up the baby, witness was aware of protective order, Maria said Cesar could be baby's father, didn't see Maria or Cesar together. No questions by state. Witness excused.

And... that's a wrap for today.

Courtroom audience is getting bigger.

Judge is allowing witnesses to state their knowledge/opinion of Marias reputation, but not the details/specifics of alleged lies.

What was the last part about the witness knowing if Maria had spoken with her ex-husband? :waitasec:

Snowshuze, Anne and her cousin Katie drove down yesterday to be with Mary in court today. I'm not sure what other family members may be there.

Interesting. Wonder if the problem started with her mom that day, messing up plans she made with Cesar to live in Mexico together? Or if her mind was already whirling, threatened Cesar in some way... and then was killed.

This is not at all what I expected this trial to be like.

I tell you, if neither Cesar or Christina is punished for this crime because the murderer could be the other one, I am going to be super :furious::furious::furious::furious:!

I'm already angry that Maria's reputation is even an issue.

I got the impression it was ongoing as it appeared there were previous conversations with Maria about keeping the baby and Maria's mother wanted her to give up the baby for adoption. MOO

Yeah, but they had talked this over alot... why was she so upset on this one day?

I can only speculate it may have been because her mother was planning on coming to NC the next week, they were not agreeing about the baby, and Maria knew she had to make a decision what to do. And I believe that decision was to leave. MOO

But if she decided to leave... wasn't that her and Cesar's 'plan'???

What could have caused the 'fight' with Cesar if she was actually going to run away like he wanted?

I'd first have to believe a fight took place between them in order to speculate on this. I'll just say my opinion is Maria returned to his house at the wrong time.....MOO

I realize that I didn't get to watch much of the testimony, but I'm slightly confused. Did the DA even establish when they think she was killed? Or why, other than the actions he took after the murder, they think CL was one who killed her? If I were a juror hearing everything for the first time, based on what I've read of the trial so far, I'm not sure I wouldn't have reasonable doubt in mind as to his guilt.

Could you elaborate panthera?

Is it possible Cesar is covering for his wife??????? If she was leaving- all fine.
If not leaving- problem for Cesar.

We are starting to think the same way.
