Could you elaborate panthera?

Is it possible Cesar is covering for his wife??????? If she was leaving- all fine.
If not leaving- problem for Cesar.
Yes I believe it is possible.

I'm so confused with the possibilities now... I don't see how the jurors are not. But they have to follow the evidence only... not guess like we do.

I imagine they are confused. :waitasec: When the trial is over, they have to determine the state has proved Cesar is guilty as charged beyond a reasonable doubt.

What was the last part about the witness knowing if Maria had spoken with her ex-husband? :waitasec:

I believe it was an attempt by the defense to specify an untruth by Maria. Again.

I am trying so hard to think of the way to word this but I'm just at a loss. I'm trying to ask how much does the jury know about Christina? They know she was Cesar's wife but what else. Do they even know enough to consider the possibility that Christina is actually the murderer.n I too missed some testimony but I do recall the prosecution asking Larsen if Cesar went to the Christmas party but I do not remember his asking that of Christina. Does any of that make sense??? Does anyone understand what I'm trying to ask? LOL

O/T but I had a brain tumor removed a while back and it left me with some minor impairments - sight and hearing being the biggest. Sometimes, though, words will fail me and for that I apologize if I sound like a fruit loop at times. When I get tired I make silly typos and sometimes ramble on so please just over look me at those times. Ok?

(respectfully snipped)
Good questions! I missed last weeks and Monday's testimony and have relied on what's posted here, news articles and the video snippets online. I recall something about what time she would've gotten home that evening but I'm not sure they know much else. I would think since the defense wants the jury to consider her as the perpetrator they will have to try to get something about her, such as the alleged confrontation she had with Maria at one point, before the jury. MOO

(And :blowkiss: for you!)

Thank you Panthera. If Christina is not there to testify then we are only left with a witness who will testify to the confrontation and who would that be? Asking becuase I really don't recall. We know Dewey and Associates are going to object like crazy if defense tries to bring that out.

One other thing - I do have detiled notes from last week so I'll go back through those and see if I can find any questions or testimony regarding Christina.

I dunno maybe Sheriff Brown truley does not believe that Christina was cappable of this - or maybe she gave a rock solid alibi and that is why she has not been charged. Maybe he believes that Christina was not strong enough to inflict those wounds. Does anyone know or recall if it has ever been discussed Christina's height VS Maria's?

Autopsy Results Issued In Lauterbach Case

Baby clothing was found with the charred remains of Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach and her unborn child, according to the autopsy report released Friday. The baby clothing was found in a melted plastic bag and labeled "size 0-3 months."

Did anyone else catch that today??? Baby clothing was found burned with the body...NOw why would baby clothing be there with her body???

First I want to say WELCOME!!! I did catch that today and wondered the same thing. Way back when it was rumored that Christina gave Maria some baby clothes. Don't know if that is true or not. Also in the report was bags of dirt - I suppose to look for small fragments of the baby or Maria. I'll never forget Sheriff Brown's press conference the day they found Maria and her son's bodies. - he saw the little baby's hand :(

I'm recalling this altercation from a report shortly after the murder. It had to have been reported to the media by someone other than Christina and I'm afraid I'd have to scour the old threads here to get more information on it. I agree about the state objecting, but on the other hand the defense has the right to offer alternatives and since no one can establish the exact TOD, it might be an issue on appeal if the judge were to disallow such testimony. MOO

Ill never forget Sheriff Brown's press conferance either, and it brang it all back when the autopsy guy was on the stand today with the autopsy photos and going over his report. That poor little baby never got a chance. :(

She's a trained Marine!! I don't recall if there was any disparity in size but Maria's very pregnant condition would have her at a disadvantage in defending herself against anyone coming at her wielding a crowbar. And, I do recall from the scant photos that have been released she is larger than the 2nd defense witness today. I don't see how she could have a rock-solid alibi either when the TOD can't be established and she was home that evening, just not when the state says the crime occurred. MOO

I agree Panthera she IS a trained Marine so that very thing is making me think that there is a reason she has not been charged. What that reason is - I have no clues. She was just as capable of this murder as Cesar so why has she not been charged?? Why has she been called a cooperating witness all this time? Something is stinky - and my hinky meter is still on high just like it was in the beginning.

Yep it broke my heart. Onslow county is no stranger of crimes but I do not doubt for one minute that this is/was prolly one of the worse Sheriff Brown has ever seen. I'm in and out of Jacksonville all the time and I can tell you that the most horrid case I EVER heard of before this was a drug addicted mother and boyfriend who threw the mother's son through a plate glass window - I think I was in my late 20's then. I'm 46 now....

Right now I'm scanning through her thread here looking for something....:online:

I think I get what you're asking... The theory of the crime we have all been working on is that Maria came to the house after buying the bus ticket, and that this is when the murder most likely occured. Christina's alibi for said timeframe is that she was at the Christmas party, but the DA never established that CSL was at Christmas party (to my knowledge, anyway). Heck, I'm not even sure they've established that Maria went straight to the house after the bus station. If they can't prove that Cesar was the only one at the house when the murder took place, they have a SERIOUS problem. It's bad enough that there's no physical evidence of CL being the killer (got to love the CSI effect) but IMO the circumstantial evidence placing him at the scene of the crime is pretty shaky too.

The only the jury knows about Christina is that she's the wife... No note, no conversation, no Christmas party. Not good for the prosecution, I wouldn't think.

As far as the baby clothes... Mary mentioned something about telling Maria not to take the tags off of the gifts she had received. If she was planning on leaving, it would make sense that she took baby clothes that she had recieved at the shower. She had to have known she'd have limited resources when the baby was born, and that she'd need baby clothes.

I'm starting to think the DA's office took a huge gamble, and lost. They had to have known that Cesar would envoke his right to supress the marital communications, but he couldn't have stopped her from testifying about things she witnessed, or her own relationship with Maria. For some strange reason, I don't think that the DA thought that she would envoke her right not to testify against her spouse.

Sadly, I think Christina is the smartest of the bunch. She's played her cards extremely well, and there's a very good chance she'll walk away clean.

Just thinking some random thoughts here....

Mary Lauterbach was pressuring Maria to give the child up for adoption, and that's the last thing she wanted. Didn't communicate that to her mother because it's basically the only emotional support she was getting.
CL is whispering in her ear there is a solution...go to his family in Mexico, have the baby, and he will join her there.
1. She was willing to leave her family behind without notice.
2. She was willing to leave the car she was so proud of.
3.She was willing to go AWOL and lose any medical benefits she had with the Marines.
4. She was willing to leave Daniel Durham in the lurch for unpaid back rent.
