Chicago Police Kill 2 During Domestic Disturbance Call

  • #61
The only thing I will call the police for is an active shooter. Calling them for anything less then that, is way too risky. For me and for who ever else might be around. I think a lot more people are starting to realize that it is not safe to call the police.

Come on now. Those calls are usually made when a family member or person in the home is on the verge of assaulting or killing someone in the home.

If you find yourself locking yourself in the bathroom behind a sheet rock door. Then you will call 911 as well.

It's not like you would have too many options to calm the person down. Jmo.

Is it me, or does someone say at the .33 second mark of this youtube audio portion of call '2 shots fired'. It sounds like someone at the scene telling dispatch that 2 shots were fired.

It has been reported that Quintonio was shot 7 times, Ms Jones an unknown number at this time.

She said her son was shot seven times by police.

Thats what I hear.

Officer 1: Shots fired, shots fired, shots fired.
Officer 2: Two shots fired.

How do you decide if it's worth the risk? Even if the likelihood is the teeniest fraction there's still the chance, and if you call the police and they shoot your loved one you lose the person forever, and people are going to blame you and the victim. And then accuse you of politicizing the issue and being greedy.

I'd hide behind the door and think about it real hard before making that call.

So, if a loved one is having a medical emergency, is there a number one can call that won't result in gunmen kicking down your door and shooting wildly?

Some areas have local mental health crisis teams for this kind of thing. I'm going to put our local agency number in my phone. Just in case.

Hmm looks like ours goes through the non emergency police dispatch.

CAHOOTS (Crisis Assistance Helping Out On The Streets) is a mobile crisis intervention team integrated into the public safety system of the cities of Eugene and Springfield. Free response is available for a broad range of non-criminal crises, including homelessness, intoxication, disorientation, substance abuse and mental illness problems, and dispute resolution.

Anyway, google for your own local area?

No, I do not call the police for anything. There is a good chance that they would just shoot me, if I was stupid enough to call them for something like that. American police are a paramilitary organization trained to kill. That is all they are trained to do. They don’t provide any service that I would want to call them for.

Exactly, if you call them, and they show up shooting everything in sight, people, babies, dogs, cats. Thats not something I want on my conscience.

The civil rights lawyers do not waste time. Lol. Didnt this just happen.

So if your loved one gets killed by police. Does a civil rights lawyer get an email update with your name and number and directly contacts you before any one else knows about it.

Is there a mole in the depts or are civil rights lawyers on police scanners and waiting for a cop shooting. Lol. Seriously?

Probably Crump or Parks, since the Trayvon Martin case they seem to be the go to civil rights lawyers. I doubt they do anything pro bono, lawsuit money$$$$$$:moo:, they like to stir the pot on tv too.:moo:

But wouldn't you call them if you were being attacked or someone was breaking into your home? I called them for a fight in the street and when my neighbor's husband was beating her up.

According to your own logic you put her life in more danger by calling them.

Which is a good thing. How much attention would cases like this be getting otherwise? We've heard the stories LE tells and for years just went along with it. Thanks to civil rights activists more people are aware of the situation and demanding accountability.

Ben Crump works pro bono all the time, it is one of the things he is best known for.

Thinking back my cat had a close call and I didn't even think of it as that until now. I had to make a police report for property damage. Two cops show up and ask to come inside.
While speaking with them my cat came bursting out from her hiding place under the sink and the door to the cabinet banged and made a loud noise.
The female officer tensed and reached toward her holster. Once she saw it was a cat she relaxed.
I was amused and thought to myself kind of jumpy but now it kind of scares me to think of what might have been.
Maybe she thought it was a person charging out from under the small cabinet area...lol

I think we need to reevaluate the training of Law Enforcement. That is all I am contributing to this conversation other than wishing my deepest condolences to the families.

Bottom line is if you call 911 and summon the police to your home you lose ALL CONTROL over the situation. They are loose cannons IMO, if they get excited or start shooting there isn't a darn thing you can do about it. If you try to object you will be handcuffed (or worse).

Now calling them on OTHER people is a different story. I have called the non emergency line to report possible poachers, also once to file a complaint about animal abuse. In the later case they showed up and took the report but they were NOT invited inside the gate.

With six dogs I most certainly wouldn't call them if someone was breaking in, I have a shotgun that can deal with intruders in a much safer and quicker manner. I would call 911 after the situation was under control.

I think that is an accurate transcript of the 30 - 33 second mark.

The speaker was someone in radio contact with LE dispatch - whether they said 2 or 3 shots - it was wrong information at the moment this shooting happened. How do we know now what really happened?

This entire thread is full of assumptions based on incomplete versions of "what really happened".

Unless the audio was edited to block out transmissions of other police calls, it didn't take them long once arriving to shoot.
Started out as a well being check and ended with two dead.

I agree to the point, I'm tired of the protesters using their right to protest, but they infringe on the rights of others by blocking traffic, and closing malls because of the chaos and potential danger. No respect for people trying to work, shop, go about the day uninpeded by disrespectful protesters.:moo:

I think I read in an earlier article that police aren't sure if any video of events are available.IMO
