Very telling. Things were not going well at all.
Yet....he had a job. He had a chance, a new beginning.

On the surface, very promising. But underneath "deemed unqualified for employment". Which in retrospect was true.

That's actually a myth. Many serial killers, especially these who do not kill for direct sexual gratification, kill anybody who shows up in right time and place.
Do we have any idea what percentage of serial killer victims have been killed for sexual gratification & how many are not?The sk who attacked me (but wasn't arrested until years later because he went dormant for a long time) killed women for sexual gratification but also a husband by strangulation torture and several children by hanging for the pleasure of torture) seemed to have a type. It took many years to recover from the trauma after he was arrested but I finally looked up the women he killed both before and after my attack. The one that came after my unsuccessful attack looked almost exactly like me at the time. Same size, body type, hair color, hair length & style, way of dressing and even general carriage in life. That was *very* traumatizing and I literally carried guilt over it for years & feel deeply for her.

I'd love to hear from investigators or investigator-adjacent folks whether they utilize "typing" early in an investigation or wait for repeat offenses that confirm it first. I'd think cold case investigators do look at physically remote cases with an eye toward type and anything else that might point to synchronicities. But i really don't know. The investigators that worked my case could have looked at both the perp sketch and that next victim and put it together quickly. But technology for distance coordination wasn't as developed nor *expected* as it is now. The lives that could have been saved.... gee. Here's to advances in investigative science!

How awful, @OneLove.

I’m so sorry you were attacked by a serial killer and very thankful you were able to escape with your life.

I understand the survivor’s guilt, but you know that you are completely innocent and could not have stopped him.

Grateful that you are here. On Earth and on Websleuths.

Sounds like you were attacked by Dennis Rader aka BTK. Thank God you were spared and happy you are still among us.

No, but I've heard it was scary. o_O

If they didn’t go check out his social media, as best as they could, then they were not doing what a prudent employer of a person working for children should do.

College students are clueless and do stupid things, and every university attempts to help graduates move into careers by guiding them on putting their best foot forward.

“So if you are looking to be an employed elementary teacher, don’t put your blurred drunken topless keg stand pic on your FB profile. No matter how proud of it you were at one time.”

An exact quote from a friend of mine to some soon to be graduates.

If those pics I’ve seen here were his best foot forward- he slipped by.

Good point. But VT State Police announced they found no connection with the AK murders by AJM.

However, I am watching like a hawk, the unsolved 2020 murder of 24 year old John Schmutzer in WI. The WI LE are in contact with the AK LE re: AJM's DNA per MSM reporting posted here yesterday.

RE Could AJM have been in WI Oct 14, 2020 for the murder of John Schmutzer.

I know fall 2020 was a mixed bag of schools in-person and online classes due to covid.
Oklahoma State was no different. He may have not had classes on campus- he may not have been in Oklahoma, some university students went home and did their classes remotely.

OSU officials plan to resume in person classes for fall 2020
OSU Academic Calendar 2020 shows fall break Nov 23-25- Thanksgiving

If he was in an apartment he may have reneged on a lease and gone home.
He would have been a sophomore fall 2020? Or did he transfer in hours and was classified as a junior?
If he was a junior he would have applied and been accepted into his professional program. Then he would be under College of Education and Human Sciences.

Junior year students do observations in classrooms, write case studies on students, in addition to coursework in many programs. I’m not sure how the in-school part of the program was handled at OSU. They work with area schools, and would have to adhere to the state and district policies those schools set for fall 2020 during covid. Then schools bounced from on campus to off campus if quarantined.
Tulsa Public School 3 calendar options for 2020-21 school year

OSU could have some wiggle room with education expectations, but they could not maintain their accreditation as a teacher education program if they did not ask students to perform an equivalent experience.

Tackling where AJM was Oct 14, 2020 may prove to be tricky,

I am so sorry for what you endured, not sure I can shed any light on your questions.

Your description reminded me of Shasta Groene, kidnapped with her brother Dylan after Joseph Duncan broke into her home and murdered her mom, older brother and I think step dad.
A book just came out- she collaborated with an author Out Of The Woods.
She would be 28 yrs old now, was kidnapped at 8 I think, northwest Idaho 2005.

It is horrific, is the murder of two adults in the presence of two children.
He had a history going back 25 or so years, and the type seemed to be boys
He was a serial killer, deceased now-
Maybe that case is one that give you some info you need?

It is. I have seen pics of him where he looks normal. He looks so normal and happy in his picture with Khan.

I am very curious about the specifics. It could be anything from a failed drug test to applying for a teaching position for which he was not qualified (such as an ESE teacher with no ESE credential or interventionist, where you sometimes need a few years of experience). With no interview, I wonder what would deem him unqualified - or did he interview?

Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe he looks "normal" in the photo with Khan because someone else took the photo and directed him.

I was wondering the same thing, and it could be he applied for a position out of his wheelhouse.
AJM taught 4th-5th grades

He may have applied for position with younger children?
K-2 are Early Childhood or primary grades
3-5 Intermediate

He may have liked Fayetteville applied to all open positions in districts along hwy 45.
He applied to these, they have made statements to the press.
Bentonville- not qualified for position
Springdale- hired
Fayetteville-

I wonder if there are others schools where he submitted an application.
Rogers, Farmington, Cave Springs

Interesting is that Prairie Grove, where the Brinks had moved is about the same distance south of Fayetteville as Springdale is north of Fayetteville.
Did he apply to Prairie Grove?

I'm thinking he was rejected from the jobs in the same way BK was rejected from the police internship in Washington. Neither BK nor AM are personable. And on paper, AM's employment history might have been a red flag (yes, I have read on the thread that jumping jobs as a teacher isn't necessary a red flag....but in this case it was, imo).

I think some school districts have sharper eyes than others when it comes to hiring. Good for them - keep it up.

Maybe the school districts saw the multiple jobs he had in the last few years and saw them as a red flag?

I live in AR and used to be a teacher. I was always told NWA teaching jobs are hard to come by. Very competitive. So it doesn't really surprise me that he was looked over. Many qualified, amazing, capable teachers are not granted interviews there because of the volume of applications and competitiveness.

THE teacher accused of killing two parents in an Arkansas state park is being investigated in connection with two similar cold cases.

An unsolved stabbing in 2020 and a mysterious 2023 shooting death are now being revisited in the wake of the double murder at Devil's Den State Park.

I wonder if he had committed other crimes before. I remember when investigators tried to see if Bryan Kohberger had been linked to prior crimes but they never found any links. I'm assuming they must have tried similar with Richard Allen.

The Vermont composite is so intriguing but LE has been unable to make a connection and the logistics were just not working.

Thanks for posting and let's see if any connection with the Wisconsin case surfaces!

Yeah, I mean with Bryan Kohberger it seemed like a pretty big jump to go from a clean record to suddenly killing four strangers in cold blood, so you have to question if there had been others.

With James McGann, I don't know. At Devil's Den he may have only intended to target the Husband, and even that might have stemmed from some sort of dispute ("You lookin' at my kids, buddy? What are you some kind of pervert?") and then the wife was just collateral damage when she went back to intervein.

The part that really makes me really wonder though, is that he just looks like a crazed killer.
When you're this pissed off with the world surely it's only a matter of time before something gives?
