On the ABC live report they are interviewing a man who's son was shot three times, he's going to be ok. His son is a high school junior. His son said the shooter pulled a pistol out of a guitar case.

why is there a school where kindergartners are there with adult (or close to adult) students?
is this common in the States?

Sure. There are lots of "K-12" schools (kindergarten-12th grade), so yes. Sometimes in different buildings on the same campus.

Watching press conf. Have a car they are searching. Warrants for their houses.

8 kids on hospitals. Both shooters are students. They are not injured
