On the ABC live report they are interviewing a man who's son was shot three times, he's going to be ok. His son is a high school junior. His son said the shooter pulled a pistol out of a guitar case.

Reported on this live stream linked below that a student tackled the gunman. Also, at 4:13 on the news page livestream, they reported an interesting edit to the schools wikipedia page 8 days ago possibly about a school shooting.

NBC just covered this on nightly news, est.
Said it started in middle school, I think.
Awful to see elementary kids clinging to one another, crying.

ETA: At least 7 people injured, 2 suspects in custody after shooting at Colorado STEM school

According to this it occurred in middle school.

Sure. There are lots of "K-12" schools (kindergarten-12th grade), so yes. Sometimes in different buildings on the same campus.
