This has to be a new record for the corporate/ mainstream media. In less than 24 hours from a major school shooting, the story has been “disappeared” from EVERY corporate/ mainstream media online platform.
Yes, one can still search for info on the situation, but it has been thoroughly erased already as a top story.
And we all know exactly WHY that is, even though we are not supposed to think or speak about it.
The perpetrators in this heinous shooting don’t fit the preferred socio/ political profile for being villainized. Like Snochia Moseley (remember her-- the transgender Rite Aid rampage shooter), and Jen and Sarah Hart (gay white women who adopted, abused, and killed 6 black children), we cannot *openly* discuss the personal situations and motive of the STEM Highland shooters, because they self identify as “protected” victims because of their sexual identity. And their expressed political views on social media don't fit the category that media prefers to vilify.
The more charitable news agencies would rationalize that we cannot give oxygen and notoriety to the shooters (or the story) for fear of motivating copycat crimes. So they rationalize that it’s best minimized and suppressed, out of “respect” for the victims, and "safety" from copycats.
But really what they are really doing is “respecting” the perpetrators, IMO, because in giving them “privacy” they are disrespecting the truth of exactly who the perpetrators are, and the truth of the actual dead, bleeding, hospitalized victims. In being “charitable” toward the privacy of the perpetrators, media gets to insinuate the perpetrators as victims who “snapped” because they were “bullied” over their sexual identity. And now the bleeding victims are painted as the perpetrators.
In this case, the 2 perpetrators are both students (the most common school shooters), and both are unhurt and still alive. So they get lots and lots of “privacy” from the media.
Who are the victims? Who are the perpetrators? It seems the best course of action for the media is to suppress and muddy that picture as much as possible, unless the preferred perpetrator is wearing a red hat and can be politically vilified and shredded wall to wall on the 24 hour news cycle.
We can’t really have the truth either way. Heads I win, tails you lose. So the story disappears. But the truth doesn’t. This school shooting will be completely forgotten in mere days, except for the people affected in Colorado.
And the media becomes less and less trustworthy every minute. There is no truth in journalism any more-- only spin, if there is any reporting at all.
