Sadly I'm so overloaded with shooters that I read and commented on Malvo (Beltway Sniper) instead of Salvi, lol.

Thanks!

Malvo and "dad" (!) was an extradinary story IMO

slain lawman was a campus police officer for the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs who joined city police in responding to the first reports of shots fired, authorities said.

“Law enforcement officials are looking into the background of the suspect. Police are interviewing people who knew Dear, including his girlfriend in Colorado. They are also examining his computer and any social media footprint.

Sources said there would have been nothing apparent in Dear's background — including a felony conviction or previous mental health issue — that would have disqualified him from buying an AK-47 style, high-powered rifle used in the shootings.”

From the NBC article linked above.

Still catching up, but interesting that he has some "Peeping Tom" in him..which reminds me of the following post I just composed during my nap (seriously). I hope I can remember it and explain it as clearly as I did to myself earlier:

So, we have seen in many abduction and murder cases where an older perp is arrested, and one of our first questions is usually "What else has this monster done?" (my words exactly actually in Gabbi Doolan's threads, and many others, for example pertaining to RAT and Kibby (whose abodes I was also reminded of when I saw the pics of the Unabomber's and RD's residences)...Anyway:

Re the concept of escalation, with an older "rampage shooter" such as RD, is it possible that like abductors and murderers, their crimes become more brazen...in other words, what other "similar" crimes, perhaps less bold but still possibly relating to shooting and killing, might RD have committed?

In the NoCo threads, we have been discussing various possible profiles of various possible shooters. I've learned that there are "spree shooters", "rampage shooters", then patient sniper types...one area of interest for me has been trying to learn where these classifications potentially blend as far as psychological profiling, etc goes.

AK-47, thanks.

I know we can not sleuth the gf, but I'm just curious which part of CO she lives in, in an attempt to identify and analyze his frequent routes. FTR I am not saying by any means he is one of our NOCO shooters. But, I wouldn't be doing my job here if I didn't at least look at him. I've got nobody else to sleuth right now, lol...

Am I just not understanding this? A prior felony conviction didn't disqualify him from buying an AK-47?

So just recapping the agencies mentioned on TV that are involved:

Local and State Police
CBI
FBI
ATF
Homeland Security was notified
Anyone else?

*Re NoCo, they won't even tell us which agencies are involved, lol. We suspect possibly the Counterterrorism Unit.

*FTR, since NoCo is a separate thread, I will be careful not to mix them here, but only bring forth any info from there that could be relevant or useful here, and vice versa.

I'm leaning toward this being something other than an anti-abortion attack. Simply because, more cops have been targeted than civilians and because so many people were able to get out of the Planned parenthood building. It doesn't make sense that an anti-abortion shooter would let those people leave as he is taking shots at cops who are more than a quarter mile away.

Interesting point! I'm thinking the same thing -- it could have been that the bank robbery didn't work out like he wanted, so he ran out of there angry or frustrated, etc.

Perhaps he saw LE and and turned against them because he doesn't like "law & order," etc. Maybe that's where his rage or obsession really is. He is apparently taking a lot of shots at LE as well as random people -- a loose screw for sure. IMO, if he was really protesting PP, he would have shot as many of them as possible -- just start walking and firing at all of them. SMH. This guy is in a lot of trouble -- I wonder if he intends to survive this thing?

My question to you guys is, with him being a rampage shooter, do you think he might also be the type to patiently snipe (taking pops at drivers, pedestrians and cyclists?) Or do they do just one or the other (rampage shoot vs snipe individually)? Tia.

ETA: Also FTR there have been some incidents at Garden of the Gods, shootings, bottle pop explosive things, omg remember that? The bottle pops things..

I'm guessing the NBC "sources" are saying Dear did not have any prior felony convictions. JMO.

It seems like this guy was simply a nut job who used whatever location to shoot up for his nut job theory.

James Holmes did the same thing. Jmo

So is this really about planned parenthood. Or simply a nut job that didn't get his meds

That makes more sense.

Worded better here:
Dear, a North Carolina native, also mentioned President Obama while being grilled by police. Sources also said there were was no evidence of a diagnosed mental health issue or a felony conviction, meaning he was free to legally purchase the rifle used in the Friday shooting

I so agree with you mr /miss dexter -- this guy had no idea where he was he got out starting shooting found a building and went in

now he has memory of being kinda anti fetus , in the heat of the moment it was the closest place to go

he did not go in and shoot woman who were there to have an abortion nor did he go in there and shoot people who were performing them

he shot out of a window when he saw blue lights and police cars

clueless, psycotic, and i do think Paris had something here in his mind , they ahd big booms , so he gets some propane tanks

wiring them up?? What do you need to ignite a propane tank a match you do not need wiring

its psycotic delusionial stuff IMO

wires?

( I really feel for LE having to process this major crime scene in this weather, it is snowy, icy, cooold... I'm literally freezingmao, even inside. The elements surely make it even more challenging for investigators )

one cant understand anyone in the present without knowing the past IMO

home as a ramshackle single-wide trailer in a wooded, rural area, surrounded by hand-scrawled “no trespassing” signs. At some point, Mr. Dear built a wooden platform off the trailer that Mr. Davis described as “a turret.”

“He would climb up there and sit there with binoculars looking at people” driving by at the road around 50 feet away, Mr. Davis said.

Mr. Davis said Mr. Dear followed him several times in his car, at one point trailing him for about 15 to 20 miles, incidents that prompted Mr. Davis to report Mr. Dear to the police.

It's Ronald Reagan's fault? Here's link to an article from the New York Times dated 1984, or 31 years ago, that spreads the blame.

THE policy that led to the release of most of the nation's mentally ill patients from the hospital to the community is now widely regarded as a major failure. Sweeping critiques of the policy, notably the recent report of the American Psychiatric Association, have spread the blame everywhere, faulting politicians, civil libertarian lawyers and psychiatrists.

What bank robbery? Do you have a link to where it says he tried to rob that bank?
