A shooter is on the run after a deadly night of violence at a non-sanctioned Texas A&M Commerce homecoming party.

GREENVILLE, TEXAS -- Authorities say at least two people have died and 14 people were injured at a party in Greenville, Texas.

According to authorities, the party was a non-sanctioned homecoming party for Texas A&M Commerce.

Deputies were called to the party as a complaint of parking on the shoulder of Highway 380.

Deputies say approximately 750 people were at the party when they arrived and gun shots erupted 15 minutes later.

The deputies say they didn't see the shooter at the time because of the mass exodus and they didn't fire their weapons

Graphic video posted online showed seriously wounded victims as people screamed in the background.The scanner traffic, posted at heavy.com, indicated that multiple victims had been shot at a location on U.S. Highway 380 that matches the address of the Party Venue. A “Twerk or Treat” costume party had been promoted for Saturday night at the venue, which is described as an 8,000-square-foot facility.

A live signal from CNN affiliate KTVT showed a large police presence near The Party Venue, located off Highway 380 in Greenville. The venue is an event rental space, according to their Facebook page. When CNN spoke to the owner of the venue, they said a fraternity from Texas A&M University Commerce had rented out the space for an event. The owner said something did happen at the location, but couldn't provide any more detail.

The gunman has not been identified. Deputies were first called to the scene because of parking complaints along US Highway 380, and the shooting took place 15 minutes later.

"One of the deputies took one of the victims to the hospital in his patrol car, while the other deputy triaged other victims. (e.d. I was listening to the live scanner thread last night and at least one was airlifted if not more.)

Deputies don't believe the shooter was a party-goer. They believe that he went there for the shooting.

According to authorities, they believe one of the victims who died was targeted by the shooter. Deputies say it appears that the rest of the victims were random."

Officers found the two people who had been killed inside the building, he said, and 14 others sought treatment of were hospitalized for various injuries. He didn’t have a description of the shooter, for whom officers were still searching early Sunday morning.

Oxford did not have information on the severity of injuries. Medical City Plano spokeswoman Melissa Sauvage told The Associated Press that the hospital — around 50 miles (80 kilometers) west of Greenville — had received three victims of the shooting, all of whom were in critical condition.

The sheriff’s office plans to hold another press conference at 8 a.m. Sunday.

Sleuthing this crime has been interesting to say the least. I hope the facts about the venue, shooter, weapon used, and witness reactions to LE investigation, emerge in LE releases and MSM soon......moo

Additional information from the presser that I haven't seen in mainstream media. Link above to the Presser.

The families have not yet been contacted.

There was one off-duty police officer there during the party, and he was at the front when this happened after two other officers came because of parking problems and they were interviewing a person who was intoxicated.

The FBI has volunteered to help

There were 12 gunshot wounds, and he stumped as to the lack of cooperation of the 20 witnesses that he has interviewed so far.

The shooter came in the back door, and his theory with circumstantial evidence, is that the first victim was targeted due to the location and the female Witness who said that person was first shot.

Going against what has been previously posted and was in mainstream media, he said it was not a fraternity who hosted the party. It was a group called Good Fellows.

It was deemed shots fired, that automatically brought in law enforcement from four other cities.

The hospitals that the individuals were sent to were Greenville, Commerce, and Plano. (As an aside, I heard another hospital in another place.)

Both victims were male.

Mr. Jackson is the owner of the venue, the sheriff has not seen the sign which would State the capacity limit , but he thinks it was very very full.

Next Saturday, they had planned on an educational class on mass shooters for the public which was previously scheduled. He is disappointed that that had not happened previously.

The gun used was a handgun.

With twelve individuals having gunshot wounds, appears he may have Reloaded a handgun. Indeed unusual to carry multiple cartridges and be able to reload and do such in such an open venue if you see the photographs. It looks like an open gymnasium type venue.

If I recall correctly, the heavy.com article above had photos of the venue inside at another time.

Good point that he could have such a high success rate (12 gunshot wounds according to Presser) with each shot due to the fact it was in a gymnasium type facility without rooms to hide. Screenshot from heavy.com

Thanks, good information. On their own site it says 500 people capacity. That is one thing that the sheriff said he did not know the answer to and his estimate was 750 people there. But they may not have all been inside.
