I hate to speculate, but hearing that the witnesses are not fully cooperating with identifying the shooter it makes me wonder if the shooting was possibly gang related.

The majority of what the media consider mass shootings are committed using handguns, the media just doesn't cover them like the ones committed using rifles. Until Vegas and Orlando happened the deadliest mass shooting was committed using handguns. And from 1991 until the VA tech shooting, the deadliest one was also committed using handguns.A handgun in a mass shooting is a bit unusual for me. JMO.
The live interview with a witness / survivor that you can click on( scroll down to find it) in the above interview, if typical for this crime, will make this a hard crime for LE to solve...moo'It was complete chaos': 2 dead, 14 injured in shooting at homecoming party in Greenville
No surveillance cameras at the event center.
750 people - 90% teens/early 20s
One security guard
No employees from the event center on site?
The more that comes out about this crime, it’s becoming more obvious that this wasn’t your typical “mass shooting” that we’ve unfortunately become used to in the US.
- not a school-sanctioned event (which would be more likely to be targeted by a loner psychopath looking to inflict mass carnage), but rather a semi-private party held in a fairly rough area
- shooter apparently just used one 9mm handgun, as opposed to the mass shooters who typically come armed with multiple weapons, or at the very least a semi-auto rifle with plenty of extra ammo
- initial victim appeared to be targeted
- shooter then appeared to empty the clip on those unlucky enough to be nearby, then fired off whatever small amount of ammo he had on him, and then fled the scene within just a few minutes of starting to shoot
- Sheriff is quoted as saying that no witnesses are cooperating or willing to give a description. He says he can’t believe nobody saw a thing. No one wants to snitch for fear of retribution.
Knowing what I do about A&M Commerce (not to be confused with Texas A&M University in College Station) and the area around Commerce from acquaintances who went there, it is DEFINITELY not the nicest school or area to be in Texas. Gangs are absolutely a problem there, whereas most major universities don’t have that issue to deal with).
There is a strong chance that this “mass shooting” was nothing more than your average gang-related or possibly personal beef killing with some collateral damage.
It doesn’t mean that those who died and were shot had lives that were any less precious than the rest of ours. It’s still tragic. But this one looks like it belongs in the “gang” epidemic instead of the “mass shooting” one.
Won't surprise me at all to learn this was gang related nor will it surprise me that the victim that's been identified was the target. He's posted on his Facebook on October 17th about being shot at and now his vigil has been shot up?The more that comes out about this crime, it’s becoming more obvious that this wasn’t your typical “mass shooting” that we’ve unfortunately become used to in the US.
