There's really only one reason people commit crimes like this. They think they're smarter than we are, morally superior perhaps.
RSBM

Which is exactly why what we do here counts. We are taking notes, and guess what, some of us are actually smarter than you (them, the perp).

Good Article! Thanks!
It reminded me of what Peter Klismet said about the OCTOBER Colorado Springs shooter:

"Retired FBI Profiler gives his take on Colorado Springs shooter."

http://www.koaa.com/story/30429517/retired-fbi-profiler-gives-his-take-on-recent-shooter

This article is too short to copy, but it mentions about anger and he doesn't buy that Harpham just snapped.

I am interested in what Peter Klismet has to say about Robert Dear.

IMOO.

OMG somehow I think I missed this article
:scared:

The article I linked to has a LOT of information, including the reasoning (if you can call it that) behind rampage and mass shootings and a list of what we shouldn't do. Which is basically everything we do.

It's long and if I were to copy and paste all the interesting, relevant parts I would end up copying and pasting the entire thing.

There is a lot of information in that article. I agree with much of it - wholeheartedly. However, there are other areas where I couldn't disagree more.

From the above link:

"He snapped?" Klismet asked. "I just don't buy that. They woke up in morning, had cup of coffee, read paper, checked emails, then decided to snap and grab my gun and go start doing it? That's not how it works."

(*HALLELUJAH!)

Great article. I would need more time to fully appreciate it.

I'm sure you didn't mean it this way...but he way it's written makes it sound like all "mentally ill" people are ticking time bombs just waiting to go off and inflict violence on the world. And that really is far from reality.

I agree that all people who suffer from mental illness are not necessarily a danger to society.

Thank you for the hugs.

I understand why the Killer is being sleuthed here on the thread. And that is all good.
My point was that at the time the second name was being released, it seemed to be glossed over on
the thread. I thought where is the compassion, empathy and sympathy? Now that we have a name and a face,
it was difficult for me to understand that condolences were not expressed. All the victims were parents with children.
Even if they weren't parents.. I would feel the same... but they were parents. Those poor children and all their families.
That was my point to that One Particular Post, the fact that posts were written about the Killer, but the victims were glossed over, in my opinion. It was in that One post that my emotions came out.
I have been on WS for several years. I understand the need to expound on the perp, but it seemed to me, rather uncaring not to have RIP or Prayers to the family, SOME acknowledgement, what have you, so forth and so on... That is my opinion. (There were a few posts that did acknowledge the victims, though) I cannot tell people what to post. That is against TOS. But something, anything at that moment, about the victims would have been appreciated, in my opinion. Instead, there is this and that post about the killer.
Anyway, I am moving on from this train of thought and post. The victims have been identified and posts are being made about them as well, not just about the Killer.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness.

IMOO.

Hey, you've been through a lot. So a the emotions are completely understandable. :) If I lived near you all I'd be baking mass quantities of chocolate chip cookies to dole out.... it doesn't erase anything but somehow it always makes things slightly less awful with some warm cookies. Stay strong!

<modsnip>

I think as animals we need to try and find "understanding" to events that result in an unanswered "why"

Years ago thunder was something from some god, volcanos were whatever.

Same heere IMO. There is not one "entity" that results in these "events" , nor is it the same cluster of events , for each indivdual "event". They are different while being similiar.

Kinda like human beings come in two versions. male Female, lungs heart etc. But after that there are commanlites with the subgroup females, and the subfgroup male

but then after that there are similarities, again eye color ,

so we can generally conclude mental illiness, weapons, anger impusivity, stress, hate, etc etc . Each one is like a different cake, but with basically the same ingrdiants.

We dont like powerlessness, part of the human condition, but in reality IMO, that is the truth in this ever more violent and hateful world that is emerging moo

We are not going to let this impact jour lives ::

Did not catch the university name but university in Chicago, is shut down casue of imminent and credible bla bal

I kinda think they need to quit doing this shut stuff off. As we saw with the airline bomb threats (16 year old)

Its is becoming "prank: like -- when we "see" someone walking around with a rocket launcher react --they have completly , the last three weeks taken total control of everything via a tweet.....

They want to cover their 🤬🤬🤬 issue a warning , infomr, and then let people make their own choices ...

True. However, in this case and in so many like it, the shooter tell us "Why" and we (society) simply act like we don't want to hear it. In my opinion, this only adds to frustrations and insures the probability of it happening again.

<snip for brevity> we can generally conclude mental illiness, weapons, anger impulsivity, stress, hate, etc etc . Each one is like a different cake, but with basically the same ingrediants.

I agree that in many of these cases, the attackers have significant things in common.

We don't like powerlessness, part of the human condition, but in reality IMO, that is the truth in this ever more violent and hateful world that is emerging moo

That's a good observation about society as a whole. "We don't like being powerless" against keeping these attacks from happening.

Have you taken that thought one step further - to see how the shooters / attackers are coming from a place of being or feeling "powerless" too?

"Nurse Works to Find Closure After Deadly Shooting"

"The community continues to come together to honor the victims, their family's, and Planned Parenthood as they work through this difficult time."

S&BBM

While I agree that it's not easy to deal with the mentally ill, I think that we should work diligently in trying to prevent them from harming the innocent.

I agree that all people who suffer from mental illness are not necessarily a danger to society.

Statistically, those with mental illness are far more likely to be to victim of a violent crime than the perpetrator.

Has a link between acts of terrorism and mental illness ever been established?

The Denver Post reports on the two victims of the attack whose names were recently released.

Iraq war veteran ID'd as victim in Planned Parenthood attack

http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_29179986/iraq-war-veteran-idd-victim-planned-parenthood-attack?source=rss&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Ke'Arre Stewart, an Army veteran who served in Iraq and the father of two girls, was among the three people killed in Friday's shooting at a Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs, a friend confirmed Sunday.

Stewart, 29, graduated from La Vega High School in Texas in 2004 and joined the Army, said friend Amburh Butler. Stewart was stationed at Fort Hood and did one tour in Iraq.

Waianae woman among those killed in Colorado Springs shooting

http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/30624684/family-waianae-woman-among-those-killed-in-colorado-springs-planned-parenthood-shooting

Family members identified the woman as Jennifer Markovsky, a 1997 Waianae High School graduate.

They said Markovsky was accompanying a friend who had an appointment at the clinic in Colorado Springs. The friend suffered a gunshot wound to the hand.

...

Markovsky's family has strong roots in Waianae. When she was young, she worked in the produce department at Tamura Super Market. Her mother, Judy, still works there as a clerk.

"Her family's awesome. They're good, kindhearted people," said Cheyenne Yadao, who works with Markovsky's mother and also is friends with one of her sisters. Yadao said everyone at the local grocery store was shocked at the news.

Most sincere condolences to the families of these young victims, whose lives were cut short. Such a tragedy, two kind, compassionate young people with children who will have to grow up without them.

I wonder specifically what these items were. Any way to find this out?

I wonder if it will only be at trial when these items will be exposed?

I wonder what items were placed Inside the Planned Parenthood Clinic?

The outside of the clinic, maybe that tank that was mentioned?

IMOO.

ETA:

"Investigators were also trying to identify an item left in what is believed to be the suspect's car, a law enforcement source said. The device appeared to be a propane tank with wires sticking out, the source said."
