AURORA, Colo. — A dentist in Aurora who is charged with first-degree murder in the poisoning and killing of his wife, Angela Craig, now faces another felony count.

On Wednesday, the district attorney's office filed a second count of solicitation to commit tampering with physical evidence.


Craig's next court appearance is a motions hearing on April 16, and he's scheduled to go to trial in August.

*Motions Hearing (@ 9am MT) - CO - *Angela Dawn Pray Craig (43) poisoned (potassium cyanide) by husband & left her brain dead & taken off life support (arrived at hospital on Mar. 16, 2023) & died Mar. 18, 2023, Aurora. *James Toliver Craig (45/now 47) arrested (3/19/23), charged (3/23/23), formally charged (7/12/23) & arraigned (10/9/23) with 1st degree premeditated murder after deliberations & tampering with physical evidence. Amended charges (4/12/24): 1st degree murder (F1) & 2 counts of solicitation to commit with physical evidence [1 for an inmate & 1 for family member]. Added charges [11/21/24] solicitation to commit 1st degree murder [of Aurora Police Detective] & solicitation to commit perjury in the 1st degree. Held without bond. Bond set at $10M on 6/28/23. Plead not guilty (10/9/23 to murder & on 2/14/25 to Solicitation).

Jury selection was set to begin on 11/21/24 & 11/25/24 & Trial was set to begin on 12/2/24 were both CANCELLED after attorney Harvey Steinberg’s withdrawal.

Trial set to begin on 7/14/25 & goes through 8/1/25. All start @ 8:30am.

It seems to me the pretrial readiness conference was uneventful, and the case is proceeding as scheduled where Jury selection will begin on July 10 to July 11.

An attorney for the Aurora dentist charged with poisoning his wife to death withdrew from the case this week after he was arrested on suspicion of arson — first responders found the lawyer sitting on the porch of his Centennial home as it burned behind him Saturday night.

Werking owned the home that burned with his wife, Lisa Fine Moses, who is also an attorney representing Craig. She did not withdraw from the murder case, and Craig is now represented by Fine Moses and attorney Ashley Witham, who joined the team on June 18.

In a separate case, Werking was also arrested on June 14 and cited with a ticket for prohibited use of weapons related to aiming a firearm, a misdemeanor, court records show.

Judging by the firearms charge on June 14 followed by a new attorney joining the case on the 18th, Werking's withdrawal may have happened even without the arson arrest.

Don't want to speculate too much, but it looks like marital discord followed by a downward spiral on the part of the Werking. Kind of ironic considering the events of this case.
