CO - BARRY ARRESTED AGAIN - Suzanne Morphew, 49, Chaffee Co, 10 May 2020 *Case dismissed w/o prejudice* *found in 2023* #119

Did he bring her (back) to the location, where LE had searched already, prying open the foundation and sifting cement/sand/soil?

IF he was going to bury her there, IMO he aborted it that very night. Interrupted.

LE spent a great deal of time and energy there so I think they had more than a mere tip inspiring them. IMO what they didn't know (when they were searching there) is that Barry had already moved her/decided against that location.

And LE may have been didn't too about the mountain location, but Barry had already moved or was in the process of moving her remains again.

I wonder if LE ever reached that location. Barry probably knew all the access routes. Side access. Sealed accesses.

I think we should have heard if LE discovered additional human bones. While it's possible predators relocated her feet and hair mass, I think it's far more likely that decomposition disarticulated them and they were washed away or buried into silt as ice-melt carried erosed sediment over them.

Not that the State needs it, but it would be huge if they recovered more remains from an intermediate location because IMO there'd be a 100% correlation with Barry. The location would scream his name.

I picture Barry making a noisy departure from Colorado, leaving his tracked vehicle with another driver, and returning quietly to Colorado with another truck with another set of license plates to retrieve and relocate Suzanne's remains.

When he moved her, I can't really say. When he would have had the confidence to return to a scene workout feeling LE had eyes on him and eyes on the site, I don't know.

I picture a location where Barry could monitor, say, the entrance and would know if it had been disturbed....

Then he repels into the mine, retrieves as much of her remains as he is able...

And here we are.

My unanswered questions:

Where was that location?

Where/why did he keep her sweatshirt and bike shorts?

How did LE happen upon Suzanne's remains? Did LE get a tip on that other missing lady, and if so, who called that tip in? Bruce Lee?

IMO someone that commits premeditated cold blooded murder of another human being once, is capable of doing it again. It shows an entitled, devious, diabolical mindset, lack of boundaries, no regard for rights of others, society’s rules, the law, and an extreme lack of impulse control and self control.

If left to roam free in society aka acquitted at future trial (god forbid), that BM poses a threat/risk isn’t about whether he WILL kill again, rather, because having already killed a human being once shows that he’s CAPABLE of such extreme violence. Which makes him unpredictable proverbial ticking time bomb that if pushed far enough over the edge beyond HIS limits, loses control of someone, gets crossed and/or double crossed, someone doesn’t obey his demands, give him what he wants etc., he’s capable of taking such extreme measures to silence them forever. No one can say for sure whether he will kill another human being ever again but imo he absolutely does pose a threat/risk to society because doing it once means he’s capable of it and one life taken already is too many.

I think those in any kind of close relationship with him are at heightened risk, society in general maybe not as high but at risk just the same because one just never knows what ole “hot head Barry” (his words) that’s killed someone already, his poor wife SM, could kill again given motive and opportunity. It goes without saying he has the means.
We know he’s killed lots of animals large and small as the avid hunter he is err ummm was, but how do we know if he’s ever killed another human being before (besides Suzanne) and just never got caught. I mean I tend to doubt it, but…

As others have said, he’s also a risk and threat to himself out on bond as well and I agree, especially if it looks to him like he’s not going to get off on the charges and likely convicted. In that case, we potentially might hear some day BM was supposed to show up for a hearing and didn’t and/or at some point during trial he fails to show up and his Attorney or bondsman can’t reach him is because he’s either on the run or has offed himself somewhere in the residence he’s staying at. Could be wrong but I just do not see BM sticking around to live the rest of his days behind bars. As I’ve opined previously, I think he’d rather be dead than locked up in a proverbial box for the rest of his life.

Tick Tock…

I want ot see this MONSTER convicted as much as the next one but I don't see him being a real threat to the public. I think the only people he is a direct threat to are his family, if somehow he has said or says something or does something that causes them to put two and two together and realize he is a monster.
If they went to him and confronted him I think he's shoot them all and then burn the house down with him dead too.
Slim chance though bc even if the family figures it out - they are taking that info to the grave

The other wild card is of course MorganG. Who claimed not to be the other woman...?
How much does she really know and will they call her in the trial.
She left town very quickly to get away from him after this all happened.

If she poses a real threat to him he could have someone go after her but overall I think he'll be on his best behavior if he still thinks he can beat this.

If he does not think he can beat this well, he may go on a revenge tour but I dont think that is likely.

I think BM is a danger to anyone who threatens his authority, freedom, or money not a walking. stalking type of killer to the general public. Morgan G and Shoshanna (are they still together?) and Jeff L. would be the most likely. As you mentioned Morgan G was scared and got the heck out of dodge and I don't blame her.

BM doesn't have the ____ to pull a F. Dulos, he loves himself way too much. But hey, if he did manage it, I'd be okay with that too. 🤷‍♀️

Damm good question... :-(

It's plural, but I doubt it's a big group. And all these friends and individuals who have work for him? I'd like to see that list.

I don't think it exists.

There are 15 pages of witnesses that might feel endangered by Bruce/Lee/Barry’s temporary freedom. Else, why the protection order?

Therefore, it is ordered that you the Defendant:
1. Shall not harass, molest, intimidate, retaliate against, or tamper with any witness to or victim of the acts you are charged with committing.

I dunno about Judge Hopkins lazy order where I think Suzanne's daughters deserved a "just-in-case" and/or "better to be safe than sorry" mandatory protection order, appropriately noted to allow civil contact, as written in 2021. Seriously, BM murdered and disappeared his wife-- let's not be naive to think BM is incapable of harming his children!

Also, today's witnesses don't have any idea where BM is located-- not even his county has been disclosed! That said, I believe 11 previous witnesses were given the courtesy to feel safer-- knowing they were named in the MPO, and had a document to rely on if required.

In this day and age, who wants to rely on calling 911 with uhh... "I'm on a witness list in a murder case" versus having the MPO in your hand-- that specifically identifies you. JMO

See the attached 2021 Mandatory Protection Orders. (May 2021 MPO- MM names redacted).

How many people do you need to kill before you are classified as a danger to society?
Very well stated @TIGER0822 …… and to carry from that……

As a wise friend used to tell me, it isn’t the action that is necessarily the problem that needs to be assessed, but the thoughts before the action……. And as apparent on these threads the thoughts of some reported on here are not always good. As evident by their actions.

And as @Megnut outlined in post # 103 above….. some of the apparent contemplated thoughts and actions that led to the discovery and recovery of SM remains. And now with a defendant out on bonded conditions. MOO

Is he still licensed in Colorado? Does he still have the Bobcat? What kind of work would he be eligible to do?

I think the friends and supporters consist largely of family members - maybe one or two others, who received his assets as de facto trustees after the first trial and who have "liquidated" them to pay the bond. I'm surprised he had many assets to assign after the first trial. Maybe he stiffed Eytan & Nielsen, who knows?

BM was all about a picture perfect family.
Suzanne [in his warped mind] took that away from him.

BM always in control.
Suzanne got tired of giving in all the time. She mattered.

BM wasnt going to have any of that.
Suzanne would pay for not being submissive.

The text message was just too much for BM.
He realized that he is no longer in control. The marriage is over.
BM doesnt know how to be civil. BM decided to do things his way, as always the case.
Outward appearance important to him.

Suzanne beating cancer [once] and fighting a second time, but BM was a bigger "cancer"
in her life.

BM is now the defendant; and for good reason. Instead of accountability, he is dragging his
daughters into this mess. Be a man for once BM.

This is an opinion only, as always.

I don't think he planned to unbarry her (at the time of the original crime).

I don't think he thought he would ever be charged, ever need an attorney.

He thought his alibi was satisfactory and his interviews, proof of his innocence because a guilty person wouldn't agree to them, says him.

Fast forward. He needed money. Not just every day money, he wanted that 15 million. So what did he do? Looks like he used Suzanne. Again. His (il)logic seems to flow something like this: if Suzanne's remains are found, consistent with the bike ride abduction which no one believes, everyone will believe it.

But...

He didn't expect BAM to linger in bone marrow. Nor for it to metabolize. Upending any claims it was planted at autopsy.

Didn't expect experts who could testify that the clothing (which wasn't even consistent with Suzanne's matchy matchy bike wear) would have no scent of decomp and the soil in which he remains were found, same. Indicating that her body did not decompose at that location, further highlighted by missing bones.

So this mystery abductor, why in heaven's name, why would he move her remains? He had remained a mystery.... all eyes were on the husband. Yeah, no one does that. Moves a concealed body at a time when LE hasn't even sniffed in his direction, to a location where she is more likely to be found.

Only Barry would have reason to move her, dumb as his reasons are. So where was she in the interim? Just how many times did he move her? From PP to the beach site? Interrupted at the beach site, moved to another location? Ever notice how some people never have the time to do a job right, but they have time to do it over? (Hello, Wall.) Maybe the fact that her remains were relocated (as evidenced by the missing decomp/bug activity) is actually consistent with Barry, having moved her plenty. Paranoid. Second guessing. Doing it over.

I still think she must have been in water and not just water, but flowing water. Not sure if water alone could have a bleaching effect on bones, maybe something unique in the ice-melt of the Rockies? Or did he "treat" her body with concentrated bleach?... I'm envisioning a unique burial... bottom of a mine, for instance, with some water (it was May, the beginning of the melting season), maybe he poured in some bleaching chemicals to erase his own DNA, and after a few freeze cycles, and plenty of run off, he was only able to recover what he could.

Wondering now about the Crested Butte ensemble. We have come to learn that was Suzanne's comfy clothes. Really the perfect thing to throw on after a chilly sunbathing session. Perhaps those were the clothes she was actually wearing at the time of her murder, quickly separated from her and disposed of in a separate grave, unearthed to be re-graved at Moffat.

Not even someone trying to frame Barry, could frame him as well as he framed himself.

Never mind that the sheath was in the laundry with his own shorts.

JMO

I do not have a good feeling about this. the prosecutor is going to have a very hard time proving it was BM who moved the body. And thr defense will have a very easy time explaining how many other people can get BAM in different ways.
