CO - Dep. Zackari Parrish, 29, dead, 6 hurt in Highlands Ranch shooting, 31 Dec 2017

http://www.cnn.com/2017/12/31/us/colorado-shots-fired/index.html

Five law enforcement officers were shot and one of them died after a barricaded suspect opened fire at an apartment complex in a Denver suburb, the Douglas County Sheriff said Sunday.
Two civilians also were shot and the suspect was shot and killed later by police, Sheriff Tony Spurlock said.
The sheriff said Deputy Zackari Parrish, 29, was killed. The four injured officers are in stable condition, Spurlock told reporters.

From news stories, it seems the officers had been called to the apartment earlier for a reported disturbance. They were called back later and found the suspect barricaded in a bedroom. As officers tried to enter, he opened fire. Over 100 rounds were fired by Riehl.

The only people at fault are the ones who pull the trigger. Is the auto industry responsible for car related deaths? Or is the driver responsible?

Wyoming students warned in November about Highlands Ranch shooter
http://kdvr.com/2018/01/01/wyoming-students-warned-in-november-about-highlands-ranch-shooter/

"HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — A man who was fatally shot after reportedly firing on deputies in Highlands Ranch*on Sunday morning was the subject of a warning to University of Wyoming students two months ago."

Snip

"The Nov. 6 email from assistant College of Law Dean Lindsay Hoyt told students to notify campus police if they saw Riehl or his vehicle near campus. The email included a photo of Riehl and his car.

College spokesman Chad Baldwin said Monday the school was investigating social media posts in which Riehl mentioned the College of Law and some of its employees. The posts did not contain any direct threats.

Baldwin said security on campus was increased for several days. Riehl graduated from the College of Law in 2010."

There's more than one disturbing Facebook profile for Matthew Riehl, and I haven't even found his yet. Good lord.

I am a Colorado tax payer and I don't mind. I respect those that are protecting us, and will gladly honor them.

IMOO.

100% agree!

Here where I live police officers accompany all funeral processions. Some will lead and some will be behind the last vehicle. Some will park their vehicle at an intersection, and stand at full attention with their hand holding their hat across their chest as a sign of somber respect. In our area our officers always respect the dead, and their grieving families. They make sure no rude crass person cuts in or tries to pass the procession as it passes by going to the grave site.

They certainly have earned the right to respect their own who have fallen. I would much rather pay them while they are doing so if I lived in CO since Sheriff departments are local agencies than I ever would by giving my hard earned federal tax dollars away for some foolish million dollar dog walk in an upscale area that can afford to make their own.

Its the very least we can do for them when they too have someone they loved and admired who has been senselessly taken from them due to a cold hate filled heart.

May this young fallen hero rest in peace, and may God be with his wife, and two little children.

Has anyone heard anything about the civilians -- this angle seems very strange to me

Other people were hurt

I have not seen one thing

Some interesting new details reporter must not work directly for CNN ha !!

posts were "outrageous, vulgar and alarming.

Any details on what he was posting about that was considered outrageous, vulgar and alarming? Those details would possibly be an explanation of what his motive was.
