"Right off the bat, five people were excused because they could not serve that much time, mostly for work-related reasons. Another person was excused after he said personal health reasons were a concern amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the end of the brief hearing, potential jurors were handed a list of witnesses to look over and see if they had any relationship with people on the list."

Jury selection begins in Mark Redwine trial
Since they showed them the witness list. If they aren't selected for the jury, they walk out of there knowing who is on that list.
Wow.
Is it always done like this?

In some states, it is publicly available who is on the witness list long before the trial. I've been away from this thread, and cannot recall this state's "sunshine laws" and what has been published. IIRC, it has been?

So it's not new news if so.

I'm sure others here can expound. I wonder if this should be put on the "breaking news thread" at WS when nearing the trial beginning as so many followed and perhaps no idea it's starting at the title of the thread is still the same.

Never heard of WebEx, what and where can I find it?

IIRC, it is merely a platform for the court, and then all the media can pick it up (a la zoom and how we did the Vallow/Daybell stuff?). Unless it is password protected. Since one media station said they will live from, I assume that many other outlets and other criminal sites will easily tap into to give us through their lives MOO. At least those are my thoughts.

As was expected with Colorado criminal trial, the Court denied requests by media for expanded media coverage (cameras/audio/photos/live stream) by the media from the courtroom.

However, in recognition of COVID19 restrictions that are also eliminating public and media seats available for viewing the trial, by Amended Decorum Order, the court is making the Court's WebEx Event available to the media to capture and stream live or save and re-broadcast at a later time

On the La Plata County Court Home Page linked below, halfway down the page is the Notice/Order applicable to COVID19 and Court Operations where you will find a link named "Virtual Courtroom (WebEx) Instructions."

Although this link provides an explanation about using WebEx to join a hearing by telephone or video-conference, the Court made the decision not to use the set meeting number for Judge Wilson (published at the court link), and will instead post daily access instructions on La Plata County Court home page for how to join the trial live. Opening statements are expected to begin Nov 9 where you can listen or view and listen by WebEx audio or video-conference.

Day 3 of Jury selection is set to resume on 11/6/2020 at 8:00 am -- (Audio Only Access via WebEx).

Take note that the court is allowing only audio coverage during Jury selection but will allow both audio and video coverage during the actual trial via the WebEx Event system.

With the exception of expert witnesses, I believe the witness list is usually available and provided by each side as early as the arraignment. It's been awhile seen I've looked at the court docs but I'll take a look.

Day two of jury selection is over. No jurors will report on Monday.
Tuesday, Wed and Thurs, will start the Voir dire, with the 98 Jurors that they have left.
Moran tried once again to delay, but Judge said NOPE. This says there will be audio! They keep changing dates.

Tempers flare at Redwine trial over background checks on potential jurors
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, potential jurors are being brought to the courthouse in waves throughout the day.

At Friday’s 8 a.m. session, Redwine’s public defender, John Moran, raised concerns about a document with background histories of potential jurors he was just provided by prosecutors with the 6th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
Snipped for 10% due to the rule; article can be read on the link above.

On the page that was posted:

But then....

Seattle1 said:

So they are skipping Mon. 11/2 to Thurs. 11/5 for ONLY audio - but will be in court.
?? Confusing...

@Niner they change dates, also those days Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are the voir dire sessions where we can't listen. As far as the date Thursday afternoon or Friday they change dates all the time. For that please see the official court website.

People v. Mark Redwine

Audio will resume the afternoon of 11/5/2020 at the conclusion of individual voir dire.
This is what is there right now

I looked back at the court docs and there was much discussion about discovery and witnesses last May 2019 but they were also under a gag order so makes sense why no posted data or media.
