Ok since we can't go where my mind is at right now, lets consider other possibilities...

Is there public bus transportation in that area where dad lives? I know it seems rural so not sure? But could Dylan have tried to walk to bus stop or even got on a bus trying to get to friends house when dad leaves him alone for 4 hours? (Probably not plausible as he would need to get bus schedule if available and if dad had internet LE should have been able to find out if bus schedules where searched during time dad was gone. Since Dylan's phone had no activity since Sunday he wouldn't have called or texted for bus info.)

Could dad have taken the phone to have uninterrupted time with his son for the week? (Probably not plausible as dad would have produced the phone or told LE that the phone was gone when Dylan left and if that was the case surely Dylan would have called or texted someone as soon as he took it back.)

Could Dylan have left in the middle of the night to try to get to one of his friends house and got turned around in the dark in that rural location? Could he be lost/hurt in the woods with no shelter/food/proper clothing? (Probably not plausible as dad surely would have reported him missing first thing in the morning right? They also have had searchers, ATV's and helicopter searches all looking for Dylan.)

Plus none of these other scenarios match dad's version of events so I got nothing else. :dunno:

Anyone? I tried...
The part about public trans(there isn't any out there).

So it wouldn't take 4 hours to make this round trip?

No....but to the nearest point of the lake isn't where they were searching either...it appeared to be close to the dam, there for the reason for choosing the lodge. Also mentioned in MSM that they found his pole close to the dam.

Which brings me to the next question, does the Lodge have any people staying there, and if so, did any of them see Dylan?

Did we do an RSO check of the area? Have any other young boys gone missing recently? Any recent attempted abductions?

It is hard for me to believe that Dylan went out that morning and was abducted by a stranger, but we do know it does happen. The thing that makes me doubt it is that IF he had decided not to wait for his dad to give him a ride, and he decided to hitch a ride, wouldn't he have texted his friends to say ' I am on the way.."

He supposedly made plans for early in the am, so why didn't he communicate with those friends that morning? They were reportedly trying to contact him. So why didn't he answer?

My other question is what was Dad doing from 11 until 5 to find Dylan? We know he went to the friends house to check if Dylan was there. But after that? Did he go to the lake?

Dylan allegedly slept at his dad's house on Sunday night. Is there some reason (other than an ominous one) that the scent dogs couldn't use those sheets or blanket?

The only thing I can come up with is perhaps he fell asleep on the couch and his dad covered with a throw or something that multiple people had used.

Catching up on the posts and new articles from late last night has been depressing and full of more confusing information. I want to scream and kick and throw an adult temper-tantrum but I don't think my neighbors would appreciate that so I'll take it out in a verbal form here instead!:furious:

As for ending the lake search, Rougelatete brought up a case in Boston on some of the later posts in the last thread about a young man whose body was detected by equipment but not able to be located or recovered; eventually several weeks later a jogger w/his dog found the body floating in the same body of water (lake, river?). Rougelatete described the conditions of that body of water vs Vallecito so if anyone is interested you might want to check that out, what stuck out for me was that Vallecito is 3 or 4 times deeper than the body of water that the Boston victim was drowned and later found in. So there's always a good chance that he is sadly still there and this search hasn't been fully exhausted, for whatever reason (manpower, funding, time constraints, etc).

I'm confused by the fb posts on Bayfield Middle School on and around Nov. 23rd. Thank you for that link and post, whoever posted it. Mainly the post that lists several rumors, the "#1 Rumor" which is listed as "NOT TRUE" is one of a few possibilities LE is explicitly investigating as what may have happened. Am I misreading that?

Dylan was mentioned at the top of the hour (briefly albeit) on HLN in the last hour or two. It was a brief 30-45 second video package, no new information or insight but at least his name and face are out there, hopefully someone will see him if he's out there.

From the kdvr article many of you have posted - thank you - ... it begins with
We’ve received word that there will be no search today for missing 13-year-old Dylan Redwine. But the investigation continues
... Are they just done searching the lake or are there searches going on elsewhere? I haven't read anything anywhere yet about search efforts in other areas though last night on one of the Find Dylan fb pages I think his family/friends were organizing their own.

So the investigation continues.... what does this mean? That's a silly and ridiculous question, I know, but really... what specifically are they doing? I'm not being snarky or critical, I am trying to picture their war room and their investigators and FBI team and imagining what leads they might be following up or what forensics they're examining or who they may be questioning, but I have nothing to base anything on.

They're either holding whatever they have very close to the vest or they have nothing at all or what they do have, limited as it is, is being held for strategic reasons. Have we had any pressers? Does anyone think a presser would be beneficial? Even if they don't have much to say or answers to give, to put out a PIO and get in front of this story and appear organized, to give the local community and the broader community and general public confirmed facts to work with so they (we) can help in the most productive way. I feel like my hands are tied. I feel like there are so many rumors and speculations, many of which could be quelled if LE at least opened a line of communication with the public so there can be a partnership in finding this child!!!!

I know the two cases are nothing alike - Colorado connection aside -- but Jessica's case was run so well, imo... and I really do understand how different hers was... but Westminster PD having their facebook page as a forum to communicate, even their presence and willingness to say "no comment for this reason or that reason" .

I'll wrap up... I have my strong suspicions in this case but I hope I'm wrong. I'll be thrilled to be wrong in this case. I'm gonna be a good WS'er and play by the rules and I'll say I'm very very sad that Dylan's father is not able to bring himself to grieve and plead publicly for his son's safe return and use the media and a very willing public to keep his son's face, name and story in the news. Perhaps he is so grief stricken he doesn't know what to do with himself. I would like to trust LE that cooperation is full and completely honest and no harm has come to this child. This requires me supressing my logic and gut instinct but for now it's another reason to be upset that everyone isn't mobilized on behalf of this sweet child.

This last quote from Dylan's mom which shattered my heart,

"The panic is just, you know, Where is he? Is he hurt? Was he able to have turkey at Thanksgiving? You know, just, all the things you want for your children. And the panic sets in because I can't do anything," the mother added.

RSO in the area, really close by there are 2. As for them saying anything about them, No I don't believe there has been any mention in the media.

So based on what folks here familiar with the area have said - if Dylan was hitch hiking, then there's a good chance that he would have been picked up by someone known to him, or someone that knew him, right? This is a sparsely populated area?

So if he hitches, chances are good that not only someone who knew him would have seen him, but that someone who knew him picked him up. And so far, we know of no one who has come forward and said "yeah, I gave him a ride" or "yeah, I saw him hitching this morning".

How busy is the road he would have been hitchhiking on? Would there have been a decent amount of traffic on a Monday morning?

http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_22063185/sunday-search-launched-missing-boy-laplata-county

"I question why it has taken this long to start scouring the lake because from Day One they have known it is likely he had a fishing pole with him," Redwine, 52, said.

Mark reported Dylan as missing a little before 5 p.m. Monday after he was unable to find him during the afternoon.

I find it strange that Mom and Dad have such different descriptions of Dylan. From the article above...

She told the newspaper that Dylan is "a generational kid and tech-savvy" and wouldn't have gone to the woods.
Mark Redwine said his son is the type of kid who would go into the wild to fish or hike.
"I would describe him as being an athletic type of kid who loves being outdoors," he said.

I did not see the KT news report last night at 9:00 and I haven't seen any posts about it this a.m. I may not have gone back far enough, but did anyone see it and if so what was the news he was going to report. Something strange (his tease) that one of the New Mexico searchers told him. Thanks if anyone can help me out with that.

I can only hope ... THEY KNOW.

  • #75
Has anyone actually seen it written (msm, le) that a fishing pole (rod) has been found? Other then the dad not being able to find Dylan's has one been found?

  • #76
I think left to do nothing or something, Dylan would of played video games, and stuff(I checked his FB right after this went local)and it showed only one thing that might of been of any help....he had been on FB and added friends on Sunday. So he was doing as his mom said...heck he has 2 FB pages. Now on to the other, what dad sees. If left with no video games, no internet, and nothing but being outside I bet he does that too. So depending on what is available to Dylan would depend on the type of discription you would give. I mean in Bayfield of all places kids are outdoors, playing, and messing with animals...in a larger city like Colorado Springs, there is a skate place, games to play, and probably internet....plus his phone....two places to different types of outcomes, not hard to believe.

In defense of the father, his family members have said on other boards, that this is what happened that morning. Dad planned to give Dylan a ride, but Dylan wouldn't wake up. So Dad went to do his errands, and then came back at 11:30 to give him a ride to his friends.

So my question is, why are there no phone calls or texts between them to support this. Wouldn't he have left a note for Dylan, saying he was coming back to get him, call me when you wake up. And wouldn't he call home when he was on his way back, saying get ready, I will be there in 20 minutes?

It just seems odd that he would drive away at 7:30, and not communicate with his son, who was home alone, until 11:30 when he returned. Why not check in with him? That seems more like the logical thing to do.

There was a discussion about this last night. IMO, mom was making the point that he wouldn't be living in the woods or mountains in November as opposed to calling say, her or his brother, and being indoors playing on his xbox. My son is trained for survival and camps in the snow, and I KNOW his choice would be my warm house with his tech gadgets.

Here's the link to the report... Nothing new really. One diver states that the dogs she has worked with in New Mexico, she has full faith in the fact that they do hit on the actual area. The dogs that they are currently working on she has confidence in the dogs just can't say for sure whether or not to what they have hit on or not hit on.
