Good night all...

If he had left on foot/on his own, he would have been texting away as he walked, they all seem to do that. Surely he would have plugged in his phone first thing after getting to dad's, as he would not want to be without it the next day. Not using his phone at all that morning (Monday) makes me doubt...everything.

Me too.

The only thing that makes me wonder, Clu,

is some locals have said there is very spotty cell coverage in that neighborhood. So it makes me wonder if he set out walking, to find better service. [ but then again, Dad has a landline. So he didn't really have to do that.]

I always keep coming back to Dad.

Even if his cell phone wasn't in use, it would still ping, right? So the fact that we heard nothing about police tracing the pings suggests to me the phone is turned off. If he decided to go visit friends on his own after father left, why didn't he turn on the cell phone?

It looks great. Thanks. Can I post it here so people can give you any other links they might have handy to add?

Good question. I am trying hard to find some scenario more probable than my initial gut feeling. You are not helping. I keep going back to my first theory.

Wouldn't LE be able to tell if he had been trying to use his phone but it was not going through? They have made it sound like the phone was absolutely not used after Sunday evening.

Maybe the phone went dead Sunday night, when he sent the last text or shortly after. It's been said that he was so tired after being up most of the night, flying there, shopping and the long drive to dad's place that he just went to bed when they got there. He may have decided to head out to his friend's place, and knowing from past visits that the cell reception there sucked, waited until he got down the road a bit to try calling. Once he got there and found out the phone was dead, he had the choice to keep going or go back to the house, charge the phone and call before leaving. If that were the case, he made the wrong choice.

I think if the phone is on, they can still trace it, even if it's not in use. It sounds to me that the phone is off and is not pinging anywhere.

Something just came to my mind....the mom is the only one not willing to accept any other outcome of this except he is deceased. She has seemed negative in my eyes from the get go. Pointing fingers, accusations..makes my hinkey meter go crazy :-( Sorry if this is out of line...

Yes, but maybe if the bars showed ' no service' he wouldn't have even tried it. Some cell carriers there had zero coverage.

But we don't even know for sure if he had a problem with his cell or not.

Since he managed to let his mother know he arrived, sounds to me that there was cell phone coverage and the phone was working.

I don't think he would even have started out in the morning without going for his phone. He would have plugged it in to use it, if he had to, in order to text his friend, say I am on the way, whatever.

had service then- no factual info where he actually was when he texted her though...

I live in the woods- the hwy/road to my home is an exit off of I-95- where I have 5 bars. I get off; 0 bars... it is 7 miles to my house- during the 7 mile ride, my bars go up and down...in my driveway I have 0 to 3 bars, depending on the weather

I am not sure if she is being 'negative', but maybe it is more like she is terrified.

When my good friends 15 yr old DD went missing, she would vacillate between hopefulness and despair. And when we were looking at her DD's facebook, she was certain that this one ex boyfriend had done something bad to her daughter. I didn't think she was being negative, she was just so devastated and scared by the situation. She actually called his house and made accusations and it was embarrassing later on, but understandable too.

Of all people, Dylan's mother clearly has an alibi, since she was nowhere near when he went missing. I don't find anything strange about her behavior either.

Some locals have said there was service in town, but terrible coverage in the woods where dad lived. So maybe Dylan texted mom while the service was stronger when they were still in town. They did stop in town on their way home from the airport.

Where was she? TIA.

There is still some question whether he had cell service from his dads home in the woods. But he did have a landline. And he could have called his friends from the landline that morning.

And it really bothers me that he didn't do so. It is the most suspicious thing about the morning, imo. Because if he overslept, and then didn't have a ride, I would think he would have called one of his friends, to complain about his dad leaving him stranded. And then to find out if someone else could get him.
