From 9news article from this morning...

"Our goal is to bring Dylan home," Mark Redwine told 9NEWS.

Mark Redwine said he planned to spend most of the day Thursday working with members of the FBI and CBI.

bbm - I really hope Dylan wasn't "home" all along :-(

Why? I'm not questioning you, just curious. It would be really helpful if they could work together. I know everyone seems to suspect the dad - but what if mom had someone go pick Dylan up? There are so many, many things that could have happened here. I am glad to know that LE has ruled out runaway (well kind of glad to know that :( I would prefer he was a runaway and safe somewhere) because it takes an option or two out of the equation.

Salem

If the mom had just been awarded full custody, it doesn't make sense to me that she would have someone pick him up then concoct this whole ruse about him being missing. She would have had him back in a few days. I guess it's possible, but since she has custody it would be really stupid of her to do this.

Anyone happen to know about vehicles and properties. Is the house and trailer being searched everything Dad owns?

  • #444
“We are not calling Mark Redwine a suspect,” Sheriff’s spokesman Dan Bender said. “It was only prudent to search because this was the last place Dylan was seen.”

Colorado Bureau of Investigations and the FBI had tents and a trailer set up outside the house. Investigators wearing white scrub-like uniforms made trips in and out of the house and a travel trailer this morning.

Dylan texted his mother, Elaine Redwine, when he arrived at Durango-La Plata County Airport on Nov. 18. The lad immediately contacted friends in Bayfield where he attended school until this summer when his mother, who divorced Mark Redwine in 2007, moved to Colorado Springs.

Very interesting wording:

“We are not calling Mark Redwine a suspect,”

That does not mean he is not a suspect, they are just not 'calling' him a suspect.

I imagine MR was willing to allow his house to be searched,I believe it already was. BUT,with a warrent there wont be any "hang ups". LE will have full access to the home.
Save time and frustration...for LE.

And...yes,IAM suppose to be working.

Edit..Salem beat me to that thought....

I get hesitant on posting--but here are a few things and my take on some of this case--first a reason for the time of video requested might be maybe when dad got up Monday morning--said he saw DR--maybe at that time DR already left--maybe he stacked up something (pillows) to look like him under the covers--dad didnt hear a reply so left and DR already gone???

No cell--maybe as all been saying no reception--also if his batter died over night, etc no way to get on it to see what friends, etc numbers are--i know i dont memorize phone numbers anymore

I also starting to wonder if LE thinks it was a semi--planned kidnapping per se--just until the visit was done and DR was to leave--then when they realized DR didnt return that is when the panic set in--that would explain a little why everything (backpack, cell, charger, etc) was missing--maybe DR was told to be ready by such and such a time--cell would then have to remain turned off so no one could find them--just another thought

also imo a visit with a divorce lawyer at that time could have been sheer coincidence--could have been scheduled for weeks who knows---but i do know that when custody is separate like that all visits are court ordered pretty much---only time they arent (at least where i live) was joint/aka here shared custody where all is 50/50 then the actually visitation records isnt written so a court ordered visit i think is moot really probably was set up that way at the last hearing--dad gets thanksgiving, mom--christmas, etc--just seems to be theway it works---plus if they had shared custody from 2007 (divorce) until this past year the court certainly did not think of dad as too violent or a threat that is 5 years it was that way

justmy basic thoughts

back to lurking also

Good thoughts. I think maybe the change in the custody issue had to do with the mom moving so far away... makes sense. The only way shared, 50/50 custody works is if both parents live in the same area and it does not disrupt the child's school schedule.

Unless she didn't want Dad to have any contact with Dylan at all, in which case making it look like Dylan disappeared on Dad's watch would be a great way for him to lose all visitiation with Dylan.

Not saying that's what happened, but it's possible.

Nope, I swear we don't really know much of anything. Dad said he tried to wake him but he was "out like a light". We don't know what he means by tried though. Did he call to him from the doorway? Try to shake or nudge him? Throw cold water on him?

We need to put together a list of questions and send them to Kevin Torres (sigh, if I wasn't married I would offer to deliver them personally) and see if he can get us some answers.

This is not weird to me at all. They usually prefer strong scent items and not weak ones. If Dylan went to sleep on a couch that other people use and then used a throw blanket that other people used and hasn't been washed in awhile that would NOT be a good scent item. Dogs are good, but can get confused if they are trying to sort out multiple scents from something that touched the victim once.
All the scent items I have heard of being used are items that the person used pretty much solely for extended time periods-the insides of shoes only they wore, sheets that were just on their bed and not recently washed, etc. I can also think of a few cases where heavy criticism came about because a "new" scent item was used that the victim had only worn once or twice to the point of discounting whatever results the dogs found. It just isn't bizarre to me that they wouldn't use sheets or a couch Dylan had slept on once and could have other people's scents on them too.

The missing clothes still remain the bizarre thing about the case for me-no scenario I can think of matches that except runaway (which they ruled out) and I am even including the one we aren't allowed to mention.

Searching the house again...seems like a bad sign in multiple ways.

Thanks!! But haven't dogs been able to track a person's last known "route". For example in the case of the two cousin's that went missing (Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook), it was reported that the scent dogs were able to track the girls from the location of their bikes to the edge of the lake. In this same case, they used items of the girls and then allowed the dogs to smell other members of the family to rule them out.

While I don't disagree with what your saying, I still find it a little odd that the Dad had absolutely nothing that the dogs could go on. He was allegedly in the house for hours.

I worry about this boy. Colorado is cold at night :(

To be fair... We watched as Jessica Ridgeway's house was searched while the family was out due to a search warrant.

The other weird thing, is that Dad told his friend that Dylan was really tired and went to sleep as soon as he got back to the dad's house. So that was about 8 or 9 pm. So why was he so tired 11 hours later that he was out like a rock?

Just wondering about this myself Katydid !
Too tired to meet friends he hasn't seen in 2 or 3 months?
13 yr olds have ENDLESS energy.....so why so sleepy in the evening
on Sunday and again out like a light on Monday morning?
I misunderstood previously . I thought dad had said he actually
SPOKE to Dylan on monday morning and Dylan said ' i dont' wanna
get up yet' or something like that. But now it sounds like there was
no talking from Dylan.
So could he on his own or accidentally or at the hands of someone
else taken sedatives or something and perhaps too much / too strong?

Does anyone know if Grandparents are in the picture? Just wondering....

I am not sure exactly what you are asking-dogs can track routes, but most dog handlers prefer certain scent items to do that. In Elizabeth and Lyric's case did they use a communal living room blanket that the entire family used? To me, that would be strange hearing how "picky" they can be in other cases to make sure the scent item is mostly imbued with the individual's scent and not everyone in a family.

No worries. Dad speaks to wanting to work together. Why didn't he answer his Ex Wife and Sons Frantic calls/texts upon learning Dylan was missing. Of course they would be frantic and want to know details. He was under Dad's watch.

  • #457
Did Dad say he went to sleep right away? I missed that, I guess.

I am thinking IF Mom is involved, Dylan is okay, but if she is not, he probably isn't. JMO

“The investigation of Dylan’s disappearance is ongoing,” Bender said. “We won’t be revealing any list of what we find until the it’s over.”

About 15 investigators and analysts are involved in the search, Bender said

I don't like the way that statement is worded. "Any list of what we find" - sounds like they know they ARE going to find something. LE has met with Dad today, right?

I think he was referring to the return of search warrant which is a list of what is taken from the home:twocents:
