Good point. The other day I was driving home from Denver, and the sun went behind the mountain making it virtually dark at 5pm!

They would maybe show if a vehicle was where it was reported to be. Say, I told you I was home by 8 and I never left again until morning but a vehicle matching mine doesn't pass by until 11 or maybe I'm saw driving back by in the middle of night.

For me, I can kind of see why he would not do that. Think of how awkward it must be for him, with both parents nearby, missing little brother, things he knows about the parents relationship/divorce we never will know. He probly doesn't want to alienate either of them right now. Yanno?

I'd hate to be in his shoes - both of his parents are going to REALLY need him sometime soon. Both due to loss, for various reasons on either end. What an awful position for him.

Yes, isn't it true that its ALWAYS the kids that lose! So sorry for him.

Possibly the brother also has "inside information" that leads him to THINK in the past tense and therefore SPEAK in the past tense.

Or maybe not.

I wouldn't guess that "running on fumes" would lead a father to speak of his son in the past tense, as though he is dead. Unless those fumes came from caustic ingredients used for cooking specific illegal drugs.

OMG, dying laughing at that last sentence.

Actually LE said they have ruled out that Dylan ran away and are investigating an abduction/kidnapping or foul play scenario. Sound like LE is saying a crime has been commited.

I don't 'believe' Dylan ran away; however, LE often DO say things they know to be untrue or are uncertain of as a part of a deliberate strategy. So I'm reserving judgement on this until they release some kind of something that backs that statement up.

Hoping hoping hoping.......

K, so if vigil was on Tuesday, iirc, Wednesday we learned late in the day that MR was going to cooperate with LE and today, Thursday we learn his house was thoroughly searched ie both cars taken to secret location for further testing.

So did his comment at the vigil trigger LE obtaining the search warrant, as in, his comment was the 'clincher' in addition to other reasons to obtain the warrant? Remembering they were looking for specific items we aren't privy to knowing what they are.

OK- I am not here to answer questions on the newspaper info, descepancies, etc. or to get bullied- links are on the web and on the front page. I can handle agree to disagree/ difference of opinion-I am not the enemy. Nothing is going to change my sitting on the fence except facts. Dad is still a victim right now- no matter what assumptions people have .

If we have to divide the candy factory down the middle, you can have all the grape stuff.

Grab the video link that OtherEyes put up. The quote that sent me spiraling is word for word. Straight from Dad's mouth.

I noticed on NG the other night a quote from the dad had referred to Dylan in past tense.
So very concerning.

But why would the father 'come to terms that his son is likely dead?' Why wouldn't he have hope if his son had just walked out of his home alive and well?

And why do you think that LE has this apparent 'hyperfocus' on him? Do you think it is for NO reason? Wouldn't they have moved away from him if there were no red flags?

LE has not called him a suspect, but they seem to be treating him as a Person of Interest.

This post is again reiterating to me the chain of events from Monday on (re MR), starting with his trip to his atty. Just find them very fascinating, to say the least.

Doesn't the brother of MR live in NC? Has MR ever lived there? If he did, what line of work was he in ?

Yep. Your hinky meter was up from the getgo, along with almost everyone else here. I remember, I think it was Indy Anna, saying usually she is not quick to suspect family involvement, but even she smells fish on this one. I, on the other hand, was playing devil's advocate, trying to keep the thread from becoming a tunnel until we received more information from LE...But, with that being said, there are some very experienced people on this board who smelled fish from the getgo and that in itself is something to be noted, not to mention the way things seem to be unfolding (things that still don't add up well after a week, past tense videos, etc)...I'm mostly not playing devil's advocate as much due to my assessment of how LE seems to be acting, in comparison to Jessica's case, its just a total different "feeling" from LE, based on my local perspective. Again, a lot of seems.

I have tried hard to stay out of that dug in tunnel, but the ground keeps caving in around me, pulling me in. I am trying the alternate paths, like creepy neighbors, or crazy stranger abductions, but I keep falling backwards into the tunnel....

I've been seeing some speculation about the 2010 kitchen fire in MR's home. IMO, it's an unfounded leap to suggest it was anything but a kitchen fire. As far as I'm concerned, if it was ruled a kitchen fire, then that's what it was. If it had been a meth lab fire, the fire department would NOT have ruled it a kitchen fire. A meth lab fire would have left a very distinctive chemical fingerprint (not the least of which is the odor of a meth lab) that would not have been mistaken for the typical kitchen fire.

FWIW - Kitchen fires are one of the leading causes of house fires.

According to the most recent data available by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), there were 373,900 home fires in the U.S. in 2009.

Here's a breakdown of the leading causes of fire:
•Cooking equipment: 42 percent or 157,038
•Heating equipment: 17 percent or 63,563
•Intentional: 8 percent or 29,912

Yeah, any creepy neighbors or crazy strangers start to pale in comparison, maybe...... Still hoping not. Hoping hoping hoping.

At this point I almost HOPE what I most feared in the beginning, that an overzealous mom had made arrangements to hide him out and 'protect' him from a dad she merely disliked without just cause. I feel so bad about that earlier suspicion, born of experience with true parental alienation. But now I find myself HOPING someone is hiding him.....hoping hoping. Dylan, you are much loved sweetie. Come home.

Not sure. My guess at best is younger, but unable to verify. Doesn't sound like he's been seen much locally since arriving to Vellecito? Any known sightings of neighbors having seen him? Maybe even running errands for MR?

At various times MR, ER & CR have all used past tense. In fact, the first instance of it that I have been able to locate is a statement from ER. It isn't terribly unusual for family to switch tenses, even in the same sentence, when they are speaking freely but MR's statement isn't typical, IMO.

He starts with "I love that boy" and that is the only time he uses present tense (but most people don't use loved when talking about the deceased anyway). The rest of his statement just feels so matter of fact and finished. If he had said "The End" and walked off it wouldn't have seemed strange in conjunction with the message he delivered.

I'm just staggered and I really supported him.

Agreed. I'm not touching the fire situation at all.
