I agree, how could they prove conclusively he had been there on November 18-19th? Items of clothing prove nothing. DNA, fingerprints, not really proof, time-wise. Rumpled bedding, the same. The only way I can think of is if he called someone and said he was there, but that did not happen.

If in fact LE does not even know this much, how on earth can they ever solve this case? I am NOT saying the don't know, but if they don't, they can have no idea what they have here, IMO.

I agree. Unless they find Dylan, I believe it's going into the cold case category.

You guys can post the link to your dropbox here as long as y'all are comfortable doing it.

Thank you so much everyone! I cannot tell you how impressed I am and even more appreciative!

Woohoo! Thank you Beach. I was about to risk a mod smack just to share TxJan's doc because it kicks butt and everyone should get to see it.

THIS IS NOT MY WORK. ALL CREDIT (AND THERE SHOULD BE TONS) GOES TO TXJAN1971.

I created a document for personal use that I wouldn't mind sharing if it would help. It's a timeline, but I added a column which includes a related Keywords/phrases to make it easier for me to quickly search/find who said what/when/where or who did what/when/where, etc. There are also brief summaries and then links. It's a work in progress. I just need to know how to get you the WORD document. You can use, share, post or whatever you deem appropriate. Please advise.

This is freakin' AWESOME work!

Thank you so much!!!

IDK-Maybe because he believed his Dad when he said he'd be back at 11? I'm just thinking of my own kids in this scenario...I've seen them do the "caged animal walk" back and forth across the driveway waiting for my husband to get home to take them somewhere. They've learned that if they don't catch him before he gets in the house and gets his boots off, they are going to be waiting until he gets damned good and ready to go back out! :)

Gotcha. I guess I am just thinking of how my kids were at that age---and they used to call and pester us if they were waiting for us to come pick them up.

The idea of an abduction does not surprise me at all.

I think LE has information about Sunday night. I think its telling that they showed the airport and Walmart pictures and then had the media clarify that Dylan was last seen in the DC shirt (and not the Nike shirt originally reported). To me if they were certain that Dylan made it to Dad's house, they would just say so.

ITA ... AND LE has somehow been able to verify the alibis of the local RSO's in a 48 hours time frame from when Dylan arrived in Durango until he was reported missing...

(From Durango Herald yesterday)

Phippen wanted to reassure residents that the Sheriff’s Office “does not believe there is a sex offender abducting children” from the area.

There are 144 registered sex offenders in La Plata County, according to the Sheriff’s Office website; 56 of those are not named on the website. Two are shown with Bayfield addresses.

But they're unable to verify dad's story, whereabouts, clear him of any involvement, officially rule him out, MOVE ON, and turn the focus outward...

(1) Who knows? If they delayed releasing the photo because they think MR was involved, that logic no longer holds because... they've released the photo.

(2) ER was on national TV. Both parents have given interviews to newspapers and TV.

(3) Here is why no Amber Alert has been issued:

I knew the answer but was ranting a little.

That was the meeting place for all volunteers to register to go search.

Hi Ransom!

At the search did you meet Mark Redwine... Or any of Dylan's family members?

If you are not allowed to answer... I understand...

I just can't help but be curious!

Just to count the "IF"s here:
- IF Dylan was texting his friends in the car
- IF MR didn't want Dylan texting his friends
- IF MR got upset
- IF MR grabbed the phone (while also driving)
- IF Dylan tried to grab it back
- IF MR hit Dylan (while also driving)
- IF the blow was so powerful as to kill Dylan

Them's a lot of IFs.

Yes, this process is called deductive reasoning. In science, there are two ways of arriving at a conclusion: deductive reasoning and inductive reasoning.

Deductive reasoning happens when a researcher works from the more general information to the more specific. Sometimes this is called the “top-down” approach because the researcher starts at the top with a very broad spectrum of information and they work their way down to a specific conclusion.

It's like using the "what if" function in Excel to come to a reasonable and logical conclusion.

There is no "back seat" in a truck so Dylan likely left his backpack sitting either on the floor or seat on the passenger's side of the truck when he was in the stores with his dad so it makes sense that he would take his phone out of his backpack and start texting if he hadn't texted his mother or friend before they headed home.

Mark was sitting within arm's reach of his son in the cab of the truck so if he didn't want his son texting, he would just grab it out of his hands.

At 8 pm, the cell phone was shut off and MR didn't say why Dylan's phone was shut off and so far I have no reason to believe Dylan slept at his dad's Sunday night. JMO

Well, if sheriff's office doesn't believe there is a sex offender kidnapping children in the area, who else is going to abduct a 13 year old boy? People don't abduct 13 year olds if they want a child to raise as their own.

Great timeline! Thanks!!

Anyone else find the bolded statement odd?

Mark said he tried texting Dylan all afternoon in an area with spotty cellphone service.
When he didn't hear anything back by late afternoon, he went to Dylan's friend's house in Vallecito. That
friend hadn't seen him.
Mark became alarmed and drove the 20 miles to Bayfield.
Dylan's friends there hadn't seen him either. Mark called
Elaine Redwine and went to the Bayfield Marshal's Office.

Dylan was supposed to meet up with his FRIENDS IN BAYFIELD NOT HIS FRIEND IN VALLECITO correct? Why would Mark go to his friend's house in Vallecito, then become alarmed when he wasn't there?

Met MR and CR. Both were greeting the early arriving people and thanking them for coming/shaking hands. MR/CR/LE guy/Friends left to search. ER was with friends by the coffee set up. I was told they also left to search, we left before she did though. GREAT turnout of volunteers and a huge presence of LE types to organize and supervise the searchers. Weather held. Very cold at higher elevations than around Durango roads.

Yes, Dylan's plan was to meet friends at Bayfiled. I suppose MR could have thought that since Dylan missed his ride to Bayfield, he could have decided to meet with Vallecito friend instead.

RSOs are under constant pressure to have alibis and to have verified accounts of their whereabouts. And I bet once they heard about the missing kid, they instantly got their ducks in a row. They keep receipts and they keep logs and notes to be ready in case they get that knock on the door.

I don't personally know any RSOs, but my friends husband is a PO, and he goes out to check on his 'clients' in cases that need verification. And he says that most of them keep notes and phone numbers handy, when he arrives to check their alibis.

I Seem to remember on Nancy Gracy that Elaine said that Mark texted her telling her that Dylan was missing.

We both thought it was that great! lol

Yes, it needs to be shared. Even twice. lol

I'm still updating as we speak - so keep checking back to make sure you have the latest and/or if you have problems accessing it - I may be trying to reupload the latest version. I'll need another 15-20 minutes before I attempt that, but feel free to view it now.

On another note (and to be updated in my timeline) I also, just noticed in an article that Cheese recently posted that it verifies that MR's poly was inconclusive but could mean a number of things.

I hadn't read that in writing before, but here it is.
