Found an article about a guy and girl(real strange put in by a local from the area)in our local American classifieds wonder if it might be of some interest to this case, since our area is very much interconnected with Durango,Bayfield, and Ignacio.

When in doubt, report it!

Our sheriff dept. always has undercover officers mixed in with the search volunteers. Makes me wonder if they might have teamed an undercover cop with MR during the search. JMO

I have to admit that I'm locked in right now. I can only see one thing. I have tried to view this case many different ways but I can't do it. I just keep coming back to my initial feelings. I have singleness of focus...so I might not be any good at this point.

I think each search group had a team leader assigned either LE or a SAR member

can you provide a link?

I can not, it was in last weeks add(I just searched this weeks add), and I wish I had shared it, but something along the lines of a pedophile and he was taking pictures of little boys, and following people with three cars! It said Text them and had a phone number, so I wonder if the LE needs this information just incase.

Regarding the family searching, read into this what you will:

You don't suppose they they were FBI agents do you?

Very possible, imo. I know that during searches in my town, they sprinkle undercover cops in with the searchers, to see who turns up to 'help.' It makes me wonder if they might have done that today too.

And I bet they did send 'helpers' in who could also dig deep and finsd out what they could.

Hypothetically, maybe that is why the investigation has blossomed??? Just a thought.

I think they mean they successfully got the word out, community is aware and little Dylan is on everyone's radar.

They have no legal right to stop him.
As far as I know, he is a United States citizen, that gives him rights.

I believe LE stop people from doing all sorts of things when they feel the need, without violating rights. I doubt they would knowingly allow a suspect to potentially contaminate or tamper with a crime scene or evidence in order to tiptoe around their rights as a US citizen. IIRC the article showing the photo of MR included a comment from LE that they were happy to have them (MR and other family members) there.

I am surprised MR was permitted to actively search, even if there was a remote chance that he is a POI. When I saw the "happy to have them" comment I assumed it meant they wouldn't turn away help because they have such vast or out of the way areas to cover.

Apart from the obvious, I can think of other reasons why that particular stretch was the target area today - perhaps a tip about a suspicious vehicle from another driver - a vehicle not associated with MR even.

blossomed is such a strange word for LE to use

Yes, LE needs this information!

Among the organizations that added their support for Saturday’s search were Sheriff’s Office officers and mounted patrol, La Plata County Office of Emergency Management, La Plata County Search and Rescue, County Manager Joe Kerby and other county departments, Durango Fire & Rescue Authority, Durango Police Department, the FBI, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado State Patrol, Durango Transit, Bayfield School District, the Southwest Colorado Chapter of the American Red Cross and others, Phippen said.

WEll, that is a good thing. But plenty of UNREGISTERED sex offenders are out and about. And plenty of sickos who have never been caught.

I still wonder who was in charge of the property For Sale across the street from Dylan. Plenty of people look up houses for sale and then drive around and look at them. Makes me wonder if someone was out there poking around that morning.

hey Katydid, I haven't looked at the map yet...but the property for sale piqued my interest. Can you tell if it is empty? Wonder if it has outbuildings.Wonder if it has one of those lockbox gizmos that records who gets a key out to go in. Could there be a caretaker/lawn service for the property?? If it is vacant, could someone have been casing the place out, to steal Hvac/copper?

Going one further in thinking, wonder if there were any service vehicles in the immediate area that morning, and saw a kid that might need a ride.

Bad people come in all shape and sizes and professions.

Maybe local LE were overwhelmed (in a good way) by the strong turnout for the search today - hence the "blossomed" reference?
I have got the impression that previous searches and even the vigil only attracted dozens of participants, rather than hundreds - I might very well be wrong here, but I do recall once or twice making mental comparisons with the public involvement in the Jessica Ridgeway case. Comparing apples and oranges I know due to the huge population difference and geography involved.

They forgot Websleuths. Ransom was there representing us. (please don't let Ransom be the searcher that kept getting lost. Jk). Thanks Ransom!

Typically, when they have this much LE support from across a large region, they ask LE from all of those areas, School District cops, FBI, CBI, Highway Patrol, Rangers, Fire Fighters, etc, to come and donate their time.

So I don't think they were worried about family being there. There were dozens of LE looking over their shoulders, and MR's ears were probably burning.
