Been waiting to comment on divorce court/family law. Every state is different but in NV, both parents must attend counseling before a divorce can be made final. Also, when custodial decisions are made, family court tends to want to shield minors from taking the stand so input from minors re: custody and visitation would be rare. Once you've made it to court as opposed to mediation, the lawyers speak for you. The five year legal wrangling post divorce does not surprise me at all. Most judges order status checks to confirm that nothing has changed, either financially or otherwise, and that parents are following the rules of the divorce decree. Every time someone wants to challenge their child support, declare financial hardship, argue about days visited vs days not visited, it ends up in court. At least in NV. Apply this to CO and you have parents who may have received counseling five years ago, had such a contentious custody/visitation battle that the court allowed minors to speak, and a long, long but not necessarily unusual history in family court. I know this doesn't help. Wonder if LE is allowed to look at those sealed records from September. Wish Lexis/Nexis could access them. In NV, almost everything is up for searching and open access.

I wish they could be accessed too. As for now all we can do is speculate. I am not sure we even know why all the long drawn out drama happened. Could be custody, child support, visitation, we don't really know. jmo

I don't know why that other quote popped up there. Sorry.

Very true but normally none of those issues would need to be reevaluated monthly once an order was in place. Over the course of 5 years I would have expected things to pop up that might require amending the existing order from time to time but nearly monthly? That sounds a lot like harassment.

I just dont understand why there was nothing with his scent on it at the house. That and no activity on the phone or computer that night to me is very odd.

BBM: how do you know that? I know some stuff was brought from his Mom's house but I never heard that nothing was available from his Dad's.

Regarding the phone/computer I agree, seems very out of character if he had any type of connection to the web.

Or at least use Dad's landline to call his friends or Mom or Dad???

There has been no MSM on use or lack of use concerning landline :(

That was in an article at some point. I'm waiting on my son to finish up concert practice but if nobody finds it before I get home I will hunt for it.

It is possible that the majority of months, the attorney was contacted because child support was not paid. Under those circumstances, ER should not have been contacting MR directly if it always ended in confrontations anyway.

He seems to have not kept her informed of his work status or place of employment, so it's also possible that many of the attorney contacts were MR seeking to reduce child support payments. Or he could have requested reductions each time ER received promotions or pay increases.

It is not certain that all the attorney involvements were over custody issues.

I read that all SO's have been checked and all have been where they said they were.

The ones that were in that area, not all of them. They checked out the registered sex offenders on the area. And of course, who knows how many other sex offenders there are in the area who are not registered. Not to mention all the RSO's and SO's who have vehicles who drive around looking for a victim from other areas.

And that is a point that I agree can not be discounted!

But the cadaver scent wafting up from the bottom of the lake is still the biggest lead anyone has, sadly. :(

Has the media asked LE outright if Dylan spent the night at his father's home? If not, why not? And if so, did they respond or avoid answering? That is the #1 question, IMO.

Great question. I haven't heard it asked. Pretty sure we'd be all over that here if it was so much as whispered by a reporter. At least ask and get a "no comment". #1 for me as well.

I haven't seen that question specifically, but The Durango Herald had this on December 3rd:
Mark Redwine said he left the house about 7:30 a.m. Nov. 19 to run errands, and that was the last time he saw his son. He returned about 11:30 a.m. to find Dylan gone. In an interview with The Denver Post, Mark Redwine said he returned to find a dirty cereal bowl near the sink, the television was on Nickelodeon, and his son’s fishing pole was missing.

Ezzell declined to comment about the statements.

BBM

LE previously confirmed MR's errands on Monday morning were verified (Bender on the NG show). So this no comment would seem to apply to what MR reported about the condition of the house when he returned (cereal bowl, tv). Take it for what you will - it is paraphrased rather than a direct quote by Capt. Jim Ezzell, chief investigator with the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office.

I think there should have been some major counseling before they decided visitation dont you?

I wonder if there was?
AA maybe

Where did this whole alcoholic thing come from? I have seen it speculated here but just barely, only due to some erratic behavior in the past.

Also AA is wayyyy not counseling IMO.

I definitely agree some counseling should have (or did) happen before deciding anything on visitation. I hope it did.

I believe it has been reported in MSM that the last time anyone heard from Dylan was about 7:06 when his Mom received a text message from him.

Darn it, I was curious about that at one point and now I can't remember why. My oldest is left handed and there was something that made me wonder if Dylan wasn't too. Oh well, it will hit me in the middle of the night.

Notepad and pen by the bed... :) very handy.

Just catching up. Does anybody else think it strange that there are no press conferences or no sense of urgency in looking for and finding Dylan?

No mom and dad pleading for his safe return. No updates from LE on what is going on with the investigation.

Really playing this one close to the vest!

On the issue of 'both' parents having alcohol issues, as one poster said:
As I understand it, MR went to his sons school(s) and removed them from school, withOUT their mother's consent or prior knowledge. Much later, during their divorce/custody issues, MR claimed that he removed them from school because he was afraid she would pick them up from school while drunk.

I don't know. I wasn't there. But this, to me, sounds like a flimsy and nasty excuse to cover his own earlier misdeed of taking them out of school, possibly during a marital fight, and making her look bad at the same time.

I never believed this story at ALL, especially considering his known history of drinking and committing violent and exceedingly inappropriate acts while drunk.

I agree!
And I dont think it was ever proven she drove the kids while drunk the judge just told her to not drive them or be around them while impaired. She was not stopped by the cops and charged with DUI as i see it.

Thats not to say she didnt drink.

I feel badly for these kids.

It's ok to sleuth MR, but I think his sons are still off limits.

I believe it's been stated in MSM that MR's son Nick from Phoenix came up to be with MR after Dylan was abducted. Off to look for the article.

Did he not text his friends to tell them he would meet them the next day and not that night ?

  • #158
When LE says that they don't believe an SO is out there abducting children, it could mean that MR is their only POI. It could also mean that there haven't been reports of strangers attempting to lure children into their vehicles. (there were several of those preceding Jessica Ridgeway's abduction)
There's always the possibility that an SO saw an opportunity and took advantage of it.

That was when Mom last heard from him via cellphone. There was a lack of activity or phone was turned off after 8- which I think means he used his cell to text/talk to someone after Mom on Sunday evening.

Well Lets JUST say there is or are alcoholics in the family
AA has alonon and one for teens.
Maybe just maybe there had to be sobriety before visitation was allowed.

I just threw AA out there as one venue.
this family needed HELP!

JMO

I think there were major problems with alcohol! JMO
