When my grandkids went out of state to visit their father I was really concerned he'd parent abduct them. I put money in the lining of their backpacks. I put my phone number on little pieces of paper and planted them in the padding of their shoes, the lining in my grandson's baseball cap, in the lining of the backpacks.

I instructed them if Daddy took them on a trip somewhere to use a phone and call Grandma and let me knew where they were.

In other words, I didn't trust the SOB to not take my grandkids and run. This was also before you bought your kids cell phones, or before their were burner phones but I'll tell you, if they were available, you can bet your last nickel I would have gotten one for them. They were 5 and 8 years old at the time.

I'm just thinking if someone was concerned about the visitation, it would make sense to have a back up. Especially if there was any thought that the first cell phone would have been disabled or taken away. I would make sure there was a second one. But that's just me.

I don't mean to be pithy, but...

So?

So, some parents find it odd that MR didn't react sooner to the situation.

  • #963
I assume we can rule Dylan out as being a drug dealer, cheating spouse or serial killer so why would have a burn phone?

I'm hoping we can assume we can rule Mark Redwine out as the Long Island Serial Killer as well.

The Long Island Serial Killer used one to call the families of his victims to taunt them after he murdered their loved one.

But, in all fairness, I don't think Dylan is a serial killer! :trout:

Really, considering that 7:30AM is the last time he knew Dylan was okay, it was more like 8 hours, it seems, before he actually went searching for him. That is a darned long time.

BINGO> Now I get what you were hinting at.

I did not feel like a secret friend gave him a cell. But I do understand why ER might have wanted him to have an extra one for safety. But then the question is, why didnt he use it?

Are you sure he didn't?

Where the heck did that come from? You're the one that brought the LISK up as example of someone that used a burn phone and it was Dylan that you speculated about having a burn phone so where does MR fit in?

I'm lost.

I'm just trying to understand why we are talking about how WSers manage their families.

Because that is how you compare and contrast what seems 'reasonable' or probable in a given situation. MR is giving us a description of Monday morning. He is describing what happened and how he acted and reacted. I think it is relevant to discuss if we think it is a reasonable or probable scenario, given what we know as parents.

Most of us have experienced the 'missing child' experience, although usually just briefly, thankfully.

Just bumping up Salem's post from earlier...play nicely folks...

Hey Guys - it is getting late again and it appears tempers are on the rise.

Please remember - posters can hash things over, and over, and over and then over again. If you feel it has been hashed out, then don't reply, just move past it and let those that are still working out the details, work on them. It's okay. Don't stress over it.

We have posters that can only pop in when they have time and may miss many pages and many discussions, but they still want answers. That's okay. Let those who are in the mood, answer them.

We have other posters that like to mull things over until they feel comfortable with their own interpretation of things. That's okay. Let them work it out for themselves. If you are in a place where you feel comfortable with your own interpretation and don't want to mull it over anymore - great. Move past those posts.

But don't get down on others that are still working through things or are just popping in to catch up on the latest news.

If you need a break, take one. Visit other threads, get a cuppa tea, whatever. Just breathe. It is all good.

If MR was not close to Dylan and was quite blasé about him I do not get why he was going to court to fight for visitation rights which must cost money and time .

If was just to punish the mum even more that's sick !!

I just got here and I can see it was a joke, Seejay was trying to make a joke.

I see we are all still :pillowfight::pillowfight2:

Seajay and others who appreciated my humor last night and my donuts I'll try to have some tomorrow. I have to catch up on my sleep tonight!

It's the same thing over and over go. :blowkiss: I love all you guys but there are times where that horse just can't be beat anymore. It's best for me to just take a time out.

Still sitting very happily on my fence...:fence:

All the time that has passed I still have seen nothing as far as evidence to convince me MR harmed his son.Its been stated DR didn't like going to his dads but ER is the only one i have heard stating that and that's not evidence IMO.His errands were verified that morning, Walmart/Md was verified.Nothing about the timing of call to LE bothers me i have two sons both have left without a note or call usually took 2 hours running by parks and friends to find them, maybe MR really felt like DR left with his friends or hitched a ride,IMO.What about the truck wouldn't there be hair, DNA, saliva or signs of struggle? If DR swung at MR before don't you think he would try like everything to defend himself? All this is simply IMO i just haven't seen no proof no evidence that would lead me to believe MR did something to DR not with what i have read in media so far.

Unfortunately, there are a very large number of people he could have called if he had used one.

But if you're proceeding with the assumption that ER bought it for him then clearly she would have access to the records and would know if he had used it.

Wonderfully stated. I cannot rule out an abduction or a deliberate disappearance and until I can I will not accuse MR . :fence:

Dylan does not look that happy in the photo in Walmart .

Then add in the fact the first night in a few months he went to visit his dad he had made plans with friends for the evening .

And his mum is the one who would know it Dylan would not want to go . At the end of the day it was also court ordered as well .

I do not get why she would lie as that does not help find Dylan .

Dylan didn't look happy in photos with his mother and stepfather, but that doesn't mean they did, or want to, kill him. Most non-custodial parents go to court to have them order parenting time (visitation), that doesn't mean that the majority of kids don't want to see their parent. Lying might not help Dylan, but it sure can hurt his father! Who knows why someone else does anything?
