I have had a very bad feeling about water from the start. It began with the missing fishing pole/rod. I look at it 2 different ways. Dylan was fishing and putting in time while waiting for Dad and someone came upon him. And then there is the "other theory". IIRC was the searched lake not a distance from the house? And other fishing spots closer?

same here, I have no idea why but Nighthorse is on my radar

The following is ALL MOO! :cow:

The thing that bothers me about the lake is that recent case of the girl Kayla who apparently committed suicide (not that I'm suggesting that in this case)... But LE searched the lake she drown in with divers, IIRC, but found nothing until they drained the pond completely. Obviously, that's not going to be an option in this case at all.

IIRC, wasn't there some talk a while back about MR saying he took his fishing pole, but his friends or someone else said he wasn't a *fishing*-type of kid? Why would he go fishing if he was waiting for his Dad to be home to go to his friends' house?

Just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me... I mean if it was a regular thing he did - to go off fishing by himself it would be one thing. But, it didn't sound to me (in what I read) that he was the type to do that...

It could belong to him- but it is illegal to drive with headphones in your ears, so it would have to be for work, rec purposes

They now have speakers just for your ipod....this being said, they even have radios to plug your ipod into. So it could of still been for truck driver.

Hey BlueSky, I think you missed this question :seeya:

In fairness, there's an awful lot of questions that people don't answer. I admire your tenacity though.

Good points ! If Dylan was an AVID fisherman , why haven't we heard that ? Only a truly dedicated fisherman would hop up at daylight and go fishing by himself and if that were the case you would think mom or friends or someone would say ' oh dylan spent all day fishing by himself a lot,, he LOVED to fish ' . Fishing recreationally when bored is one thing, but it seems odd he would just go out and do that unless he LOVED it and by all indications he didn't LOVE it. Liked it ok, maybe, but not loved it enough to do that.

Here are some links regarding the lake search:

3 sonar-outfitted boats turned up nothing unusual at 3 points cadaver dogs on Saturday indicated were points of interest. 2 cadaver dogs, independently of each other, signaled the same locations, Bender said.
Divers have to be used judiciously, Bender said. The elevation of Vallecito, 7,700 feet, the 38 degree water and its depth, 40 feet, allow them to search safely for only 20 to 30 minutes. Divers must wait 8 hours before working again, Bender said.
durangoherald.com

The Task Force has canvassed local area residents, has employed air-scent canines in ground searches, canine search and rescue teams from New Mexico searching local lakes and waters and surrounding areas. These areas have been searched and searched again not because of any particular tip but to insure the searches have exhausted the areas.

"We had two of the dogs alerted on the surface of the lake. It could be a submerged deer or elk or something else," Bender said.

The dive team spent two days searching the area and is confident the dogs were wrong, Pierce said.
"We had a specific area we were asked to search," she said. "At this time, we feel that he's not there."

I thought we DID hear that he actually loved to fish ... I dont' know if I have the energy to regurgitate a link for the fishing argument though...

Did we? I would not be surprised !
So much of what we think is opinion
and I begin to forget what I thought
vs. what I heard vs. what was reported.
I apologize if so.

Even if he did like to fish, why would he opt to go fishing if he had plans to meet his friends? Doesn't make sense.

LOL .. even if it was reported, it was something somebody told somebody about DR so it's still rumour..

I'm almost certain it was stated somewhere.

I tend to think if he's in the lake it's not 'cause he went fishing ... so I'm hoping he's not.

This is a he said / she said about fishing etc.

Mark Redwine said Sunday that he hadn't been able to find the boy's fishing rod.

"I question why it has taken this long to start scouring the lake because from Day One they have known it is likely he had a fishing pole with him," Redwine, 52, said.
Information he received from the boy's friends suggests that Dylan was hitchhiking when he disappeared, Redwine said.

"It sounds to me like he's not even in the area," he said.

He said he is concerned that a stranger could have picked up the teen and abducted him.

Elaine Redwine couldn't be reached for comment.

She told The Durango Herald that Dylan didn't like Vallecito's rural surroundings.

She told the newspaper that Dylan is "a generational kid and tech-savvy" and wouldn't have gone to the woods.

Mark Redwine said his son is the type of kid who would go into the wild to fish or hike.
"I would describe him as being an athletic type of kid who loves being outdoors," he said.

As TexasCharm says, it has been stated that he loves to fish. It was by the mother of someone he went to school with in the ara. She said that they even offer a class at his old school in fly casting/fishing. A lot of the focus on fishing has been from ONE comment that MR made about the fishing pole being gone. He never even said that Dylan had the pole/rod, just that he was surprised that it took as long as it did to check the lake since it was possible that he had it with him.

I thought we DID hear that he actually loved to fish ... I dont' know if I have the energy to regurgitate a link for the fishing argument though...
I wish I could remember where it was posted, but I'm rather lacking in the energy department too. I'll see if I can activate my memory a bit to narrow the search down a bit for me.

ETA: I just saw TexasCharm's link. If it was posted on there, most likely as a comment, do we haven't to remove it from these posts and stop referring to it? TIA

IIRC it was a comment from a classmate regarding a fly fishing class. From FB, perhaps?

ETA: Confused covered it better :) Thanks!
