even if Dylan did like to fish, is it something he liked to do alone?

I still don;t get why he would have gone fishing when he was eager to catch up with his mates.

I just noticed that new reward poster is listing the shirt with the DC logo on the front.

Dang! You're good! lol.

I seem to have a selective memory. The things I remember, I remember well, those I forget tend to be pretty much non-existent. I can still remember conversations I heard 50 years ago almost word for word, but I can't even remember what all I had for lunch 30 minutes ago. :blushing:

Since it has been mentioned by at least one other person here, and it's something I've been wanting to see myself, I'm going to try to get a collection of all statements directly from LE and anything they have confirms. If I'm not back in 3 days, you'll know it caused a total breakdown and I'm probably somewhere babbling in my padded room! :pullhair:

I wish I could beg them to get Texas Equusearch Mounted Search and Recovery involved....It would help so much...horses, and sonar(that isn't a fish finder).
Oh how I wish they would call them. I would do a happy dance to see that

Are we related?

Just thinking about the fly-fishing class...

IF it's true, I wonder where this class was held? Was it an actual class during the school day, or an extracurricular, or what? The only reason I'm curious is that if Dylan actually did decide to go fishing, this may be a clue as to where he would have gone.

IMO, if LE is not happy with the cadaver dogs they brought in, bring in two more and see what they say.
Last I checked, dogs don't lie.
I have had opportunity to see trained dogs work and they impress me enormously.

Yeah, bring in two more cadaver dogs. Why wouldn't LE/FBI do this anyway?

We are expecting alot of snow, 1-3 foot.....disappointing....this could make a search so much worse.

Sounds like they are looking for anything that may have washed up on the shore. Does anyone know what kind of helicopter. Is it LE? tia

Is there a dam on the lake, I saw a true crime show (can't remember the name) that told of a guy who fell in trying to save his dog and they couldn't find his body for a long time. Finally rescue divers went in & found the body in the dam. It was a low head dam, they are the most dangerous, they call them "drowning machines".

The police have done helicopter flyovers of the lake each week since the search. Last week they said it was to look for any changes since the initial search.

This past Sunday, some of the volunteers including D Hess did a search that involved walking around the entire lake on the shores.

They must feel like either Dylan :( ......or his backpack is in that lake .

They keep going back for a reason, huh?

It's a huge, deep lake .. there is no way to search it thoroughly "on a couple of occasions" .. or ever really.

I guess they had to weigh the cost against any real evidence that he was ever there.

I think it nags at them too and they check back every week or so to see if anything has surfaced...

imo

Here are some links regarding the lake search:

3 sonar-outfitted boats turned up nothing unusual at 3 points cadaver dogs on Saturday indicated were points of interest. 2 cadaver dogs, independently of each other, signaled the same locations, Bender said.
Divers have to be used judiciously, Bender said. The elevation of Vallecito, 7,700 feet, the 38 degree water and its depth, 40 feet, allow them to search safely for only 20 to 30 minutes. Divers must wait 8 hours before working again, Bender said.
durangoherald.com

The Task Force has canvassed local area residents, has employed air-scent canines in ground searches, canine search and rescue teams from New Mexico searching local lakes and waters and surrounding areas. These areas have been searched and searched again not because of any particular tip but to insure the searches have exhausted the areas.

"We had two of the dogs alerted on the surface of the lake. It could be a submerged deer or elk or something else," Bender said.

The dive team spent two days searching the area and is confident the dogs were wrong, Pierce said.
"We had a specific area we were asked to search," she said. "At this time, we feel that he's not there."

IMO they are pretty sure "a body" is in the lake based on the hits from two independent dogs. They are waiting for it to surface because it is just not safe to dive at this time.

IMO this is also why they did not allow Texas Equisearch to assist. They must be pretty sure about what they are doing and feel that TES volunteers would be at too much of a risk to attempt to do any further dives.

Which makes me think LE have no idea on what to do next. This case is going to go cold IMO

The weather will just make everything worse as what can you do if the search area is blanketed in snow for months on end?

All MOO

Here's another pic of Dylan from the Facebook that's from 3 years ago. I have to say I'm disturbed that in so many pictures of Dylan, he's not smiling. It really bothers me.

Edit - is there a way to make this smaller? I didn't realize it would post so big.

I was just about to post the same, thinking about TES, since the last word from the page admin of the Find Dylan fb page wrote that LE asked them to hold off on TES (me paraphrasing, not a direct quote). That was before last Saturday's search.

I'm not clear if it's more ideal for TES to be brought in when there's a more specified, narrow area to search, bringing in their additional resources -- or if it's more ideal to bring them in to cover a broader area with hopes of narrowing down the search area.

Either way it would be telling to see if LE is open and willing to invite TES to come work as partners in the search for Dylan now.

It couldn't hurt, it can only help!

You're likely right, this is why Search teams can't get in there.
