Just loggin on and getting caught up. I'm not sure if this has been posted yet, but check out the comment by ZM (under the photo of Dylan on his first plane ride 2008) posted 2 hours ago on fb (ZM's parents need to be notified about this posting, as well as LE, which I am on it):

One month after Dylan Redwine vanished from his father's home at Vallecito Lake, a full contingent of investigators is still working the case and his family is still begging for his return, or for someone to tell them what happened to the 13-year-old.
"Someone's got him, and they can't keep him out of sight forever," said his aunt Lia Howard of Denver. "We just hope we can find what speaks to that person."
So far, a reward of $11,000 hasn't leveraged any solid leads. Tips are still coming in from across the country, but nothing has moved investigators closer to the missing teen. Items collected during a community roadside search 10 days ago haven't been definitively linked to Redwine.

I woke up this morning with an overwhelming sadness that I really didn't understand. Then I get my coffee and sit down to catch up on WS and it hits me there are parents all over that are waking up without their children! I just can't imagine. Praying that today is the day! Its been a month! Please dear Lord, bring this precious boy home safely.

Just saying, it is always very helpful when posting a link to facebook or other social media, paraphrase; just say in your own words a little bit about the info you are referring to. Not just where it is but what it says or refers to. For MSM you can copy and paste a sentence or two with the most pertinent info.

I always try to do this so that if threads are flying, people can have the info and choose if they need to further investigate the link or not. It helps other posters to find the info and keeps those trying to catch up from wasting time on links with the same info we already know, and it helps those who can't access social media due to filters etc.:twocents:

Not directing this at anyone in particular, just a helpful tip!

Looks to be from a minor on FB claiming to have seen Dylan in Nebraska. I am sure LE will be notified by the FB admin.

Plus the comment about being worried about his parents, just seems a little.....off. :moo:

Seems in many crimes it brings out the "unbalanced" and the cruel :waitasec:

someone thought there was a new missing poster for Dylan, thats what Salem was referring to.

Its not a new poster though, its one from November.

Hey aust....can you tell me one more time...is there a new poster?!

(I'm just asking because I love the way you say "November!":D)

ETA: My autocorrect wants me to call you "dust!"

Can you paraphrase the comment as I can't find it on the FB page. tia

The person says he saw Dylan a few days ago in (can't remember where he said now but another state?) and that Dylan's clothes were torn and tattered and that Dylan was wondering if his parents were ok...something like that.

Its unlikely this crazy poster saw Dylan. If anyone saw a kid that was confused in tattered clothes, they would be calling authorities. I think it was a hoax.

If you want to try to find the comments mck, scroll down Dylan's missing page until you see a photo of Dylan sitting on an airplane near a window. The comments are just under that photo.

In regards to why MR has not been named a suspect/POI....

Here in Chicago, I work in the criminal justice system for Cook County. I'm very familiar with the intricacies of criminal cases, and the (sometimes painfully slow) route they take through the system.

I am not well-versed in Colorado law. However, the POI/suspect debate is a national thing, IMO.

Here's a citation for those who like that kinda thing...

SNIPPED

"Normally, we do not publish the names of suspects until they’ve been charged with a crime. But in some major cases, such as this one, the information our reporters gather makes it clear to us that a “person of interest” is indeed a suspect and authorities are preparing to seek charges, even if those charges haven’t yet been filed. We were not the first media outlet to report the name and, although we had the name earlier, we did not publish it until he was arrested on a probation violation charge."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...-it-would-you/2012/08/01/gJQAIipUOX_blog.html

It is fairly common practice to hold off on naming an actual POI, until it's deemed the best thing to do for an investigation. Naming a POI, essentially, starts the clock running: Why would they do that, at this juncture? IMO There's no reasonable reason to. They are not on anyone's timer right now, they can proceed with their investigation full steam ahead, without the barrage of b.s. that occurs once you've named a suspect - once you've officially limited the scope of your investigation to that one person.

MOO and all that.

BBM: From the way this is worded, this was apparently written by a media outlet.. not by a LE official. Makes a big difference, IMO.

The media can say anything they want to, and word it so that they don't cross any legal lines. But saying that someone is a suspect or a POI when it has not been confirmed by LE publicly can get them in deep trouble.

Technically, the two terms may mean the same thing to a lot of people, but in reality, a person of interest can also mean someone who LE believes has knowledge of a crime, or was an accessory to a crime, according to my son who is in LE. 'POI' is a kind of broad term, meaning LE may think this person could be responsible, whereas 'Suspect' is more narrowed down, meaning they believe the person is responsible but don't quite have enough to make an arrest.

Does that make sense?

LE just can't seize your stuff and keep it indefinitely. Falls under illegal search and seizure contained in the constitution.

They can if it contains or is classified as evidence in a criminal case. They've been known to keep vehicles for 2 years or more, until the trial is over. They have auctions all the time around here to sell excess vehicles they've seized in drug busts. But if a vehicle is impounded by LE for a forensics search, they do have to have a search warrant before they take it.

Thanks. Found it this time. I was looking for a newer post. Don't feel real optimistic about the post. I wish I did. jmo

Really? Clothes in tatters? I don't think I have ever seen clothes in tatters, even on a homeless person. And this poster didn't immediately tell an adult or LE?
If this is a hoax, this kid needs to be punished immediately. Like take away the computer/phone for a year. jmo

it's sad how little there is to that story.

Unbelievable. FIVE short paragraphs that say NOTHING.

I guess it's good to get his name out there but yes, it's really SAD.
