I wonder why LE went oh the NG show way back when, and not another official appearance since. I think it is because they soon realized they were not looking for a random perp. Otherwise, why not take up the cry for Dylan to at least the local media?

Either way, they are doing Dylan a great disservice, IMO, in not talking about him all. Just as I believe LE has done in too many other cases, and the child remains missing.

The more time that passes, the more convinced I am that my original feelings about this case are true.

Poor Dylan....we miss you.

Agreed. I give most credence to the direct quotes we have from all who know Dylan best - preferably on camera, recorded interviews or typed by their own hands as comments on sites like the FMDR page. I trust paraphrased versions less after my relatively short few monthsn here at WS!

To me anything from Dylan's immediate family (including MR) and his closest friends (don't forget that they know the most about how their friend has and would act when not around his parents - like it or not, our kids all have this other side to varying degrees), and of course LE themselves, has the most value. This includes their opinions about how Dylan would or wouldn't behave in certain situations.

In some ways that might be true, but keep in mind they are also kids. When my good friends 15 yr old DD was missing, we talked to her friends first thing. And some of what they said was farfetched and just plain wrong. Rumors abound when kids start talking to each other, and sometimes they are just plain wrong.

My friend was told by 2 of her DD's good friends, that she probably OD'ed on heroin. My friend almost had a heart attack after that visit. None of that turned out to be true.

Do you care to share Shef? Or did you never post them ?

I think ER's statement of who ' lost' DR doesn't mean much more than ' you were responsible MR to keep him safe and you failed at that job'. I don't know that anymore can be read into than that.
Sorry Shef, I realized I returned this to your post that was about a previous poster's words,, sorry :|
But I think any parent would feel that way when something happens to a child and the other parent is in charge. It would be the same if they were at a mall together and someone picked up the child and ran off with witnesses. One parent would point to the other and say you were supposed to protect him! Hopefully that is all she means.
That reminds me of ' the deep end of the ocean' ,, a super good read for you WSers if you're bored. It might give insight into the kind of cases we follow here, even though it's fiction.

well as for the 8pm question my theory was debunked by people linking that it WAS STATED THAT THE PHONE WAS SHUT OFF/CUT OFF/NO LONGER OPERABLE 8PM 11/18..

So those links should be here at the start of this thread or toward the end of the last thread..

Thanks. I only found people discussing the facebook said it. I was looking for anything from the police saying it.

If they felt it wasn't a random perp, why aren't they turning the heat on MR? Wouldn't we hear things that points to their believing MR was their POI? I don't feel they've done anything to indicate this. They've searched his home, searched his vehicles, checked his meetings on Monday morning, yet we've heard nothing that would indicate they've honed in on him. If they were sniffing around him, wouldn't we hear from the local folk?

The Michelle Parker case brought me to WS. Everything points to her ex-fiance, yet there's no forensic evidence (that we know of) to point to him, yet he was named POI. He was named POI AFTER the CA case where everyone was so critical of FL LE.

I know it's not popular opinion, but I don't like MR as having harmed Dylan. I have said this very early on. This is the first case I've been vocal on. I don't feel it.

I, too, recommend "The Deep End of the Ocean"...

It opened my eyes to the lack of control we have over our lives... Even while we have the best intentions!

A haunting read....

I know this will sound cold, but just because she didn't OD on heroin doesn't mean she COULD NOT have OD'd on heroin. IMO, friends know more about our kids sometimes than we do.

If they do not suspect MR, they are really doing a poor job for Dylan, his family and the community, then, IMO. That would mean they suspect a random perp capable of taking and possibly murdering children.

Well, if they don't suspect MR, they are really doing a poor job for Dylan and his family, then. Not to mention the community.

Perhaps, but what are they doing to put pressure on MR? We've heard NOTHING that would indicate they are focusing on him only. As many people that believe he is responsible in the area in which he lives, you'd think something would come out that indicates he's the single focus of their investigation. MOO

I don't know that they are focusing on him. Perhaps, even worse, they are completely in the dark. Still, no excuse, IMO, to remain so silent. That has not worked well in the past.

No, that was NOT the situation. She had never done any heroin or any hard drugs whatsoever. She had been taking meds for depression and did not tell many of her friends. So they thought she was acting stoned, when she was getting used to the meds.

Her friends were entirely WRONG and they actually steered LE in the wrong direction as well. She was written off as a runaway and possible druggie/street prostitute when that was not at all the case. Turns out she was staying hidden at a good friends house because she was mad at her mom and she also had a new secret boyfriend. Her other close friends had no idea of what was actually going on.

I worked in a middle school for many years. I worked in the office and I heard many many stories that students would come to the principal with. Quite a few of them were erroneous, confused, or downright lies.

A haunting read is right. I almost put it down several times. It's been over 10 years since I read it. I thought about it the other day while reading this thread and was relieved that Dylan was ER's youngest child because the way her life is today a younger child at home would be suffering as well. Even though I guess you could argue that to have another kid at home might somehow ease her suffering and it might, but everyone in a family suffers , not just the parent.

It happened to Jaycee Dugard. Philip Garrido lived 2 1/2 hrs away from where he took here.

I just find it really hard to believe that a random stranger manged to get in and out without nobody seeing anything odd in that area when its such a small place and there only one way in and out .

This is not Dylan's home and he is not normally there. So what are the odds a random pedophile just happened upon Dylan Monday morning and snatched him and in doing so nobody saw a weird car that should not of been in the area and Dylan did not put up any resistance and leaving no evidence behind ?

The odds i think would be slim to none MOO!

Only one person had the means and opportunity and time to get away with this (MOO)

Here's wishing all happy holidays!
I know it's really rough on dylans family and friends as well as us WS. We all need to stay strong and persevere.
You will be found Dylan!

O/T Sorry but As I am just sitting around waiting for my baby to make her way in to the world, I appreciate any suggestions of books (particularly if it can be related to the type of cases we follow here on WS) to read so thank you to you and Schmae! I am off to find this book.

I also eagerly await news that Dylan is coming home...

Anyway, back to lurking now :seeya:

Me too FruitTingles - finally some clarification for people jumping to conclusions.

Now about this baby. - she isn't overdue yet is she? Sorry I don't know the codes to use for all the cute emoticons here on my iPad. Insert an appropriate one here though >>>>>
