There is a lot of focus on why LE is not sharing information, here are some thoughts I have been having today:
1) If LE believes that there is a local person that took DR, why haven't they asked the public to watch for someone with changing behavior (like they did w/Ridgeway)
2) LE isn't going to tell us anything that is involved in the case, IMO that is the wisest move. They would ask for public assistance if that was needed, but not provide updates in general.
3) If they believe that DR is out of the area, perhaps by a stranger, why hasn't there been any news on strange vehicles? Request for public assistance for knowledge of any strangers in the area, house guest leaving suddenly, etc. There has been more than enough time to search video for any abnormal vehicle as well as check the alibi of any vehicle that has passed through.
4) I'm more concerned by what LE HASN'T said vs what little they have. I know that many say that ER hasn't been "cleared" but seriously, she was hundreds of miles away w/CR - common sense tells you that they have been cleared but still LE hasn't cleared them or MR.
5) Cooperating vs cooperating fully are real different.
6) LE has not allowed access to or the media hasn't requested a copy of the SW, why?
7) LE mentioned when the phone last was pinged, Sunday night, but have never said where, wouldn't that be significant for a search and if it wasn't significant then why mention it at all?
8) The fishing pole was only mentioned by MR, I don't recall LE ever mentioning it.

The silence is deafening. What they AREN'T telling us (IMO) is louder than what they ARE telling us.

I did not realize that media has not been given a copy of SW,,,,,that is mighty interesting . As for the phone pings, I didn't know LE said anything about a final ping. If that is so , then it is interesting they didn't say where. OMG we need an insider from the phone company......they know where the pinging went on .

Right. But if that's what they think, then why just the focus on the route between Durango & Vallecito? With 250 searchers willing to work all day, wouldn't you send them to an area where you would feel most likely to find clues to solve the case? What caused LE to focus on that route?

BTW - I am not aware of any LE organized/authorized searches on the road from MR's house to Dylan's friends in Bayview. If anyone knows of any, please correct me :)

Just some of the search areas. What I could find fast:

La Plata County Search and Rescue members searched for Dylan Monday night in areas off County Road 500. Search and Rescue was pulled out before dark Tuesday. Bender said without the pressure from searchers, Dylan might be encouraged to go to a friend’s house for the night.
Residents have expressed an interest in assisting with the search. They are being asked to search their properties and areas of Vallecito they are familiar with, Bender said. Until four months ago, Dylan lived in Vallecito, so authorities have been notifying friends who live in the area.

Members of La Plata County Search & Rescue team using bloodhounds searched for the teen Monday night and Tuesday. The search area included the shoreline around Vallecito Lake, several small subdivisions, county roads, steep wooded hillsides and hiking trails. Many of the homes in the area are seasonal while some are occupied year around.***

I don't know if the media has or hasn't been given a copy of the SW, I'm just thinking out loud that IF the media had a copy, we certainly would've read about it, heck they report when someone farts downwind so I can't imagine them keeping it hush hush.
Ping is probably the wrong term to, my fault for too much reading on here about pings and pongs, to clarify they said the last activity was Sunday.

As someone who loves the Dylan we have come to know...just a small part of him, I can only imagine what it is like for someone who knows him and loves him, whose children are his siblings.

Your questions deserve answers. I hope we get them in the new year.

Oh I can promise you Grandma if the press had a copy of the SW , someone here at WS would have seen it by now. IT's a good point because I remember very vividly in the baby Lisa case last year, the WS gave MUCH to talk about , so it is not uncommon for LE to release it to the media. Another omission that is interesting that I'm not sure had been pointed out before. tks for that

It looks like these searches were all within the first week or so.

What I found most interesting is that in the one very large, organized search, they focussed on the area that MR drove after he left Walmart and returned home. JMO

Is Dylan's DNA and/or info in the database (NAMUS?) so it can be matched if unidentified remains are found outside of a logical radius?

  • #155
Revealing indeed. Might be a reason he is still missing.

Are you implying that LE is mistakenly on the wrong track?

  • #156
Because there are those POI's that will do a couple of things, steer another person towards the evidence so that it's found or actually "find" the evidence themselves. Scott Peterson maintains that Lacy ran off with another guy, this is after he's been convicted of murder, after her body has never been found and no trace of her existing on earth.

Josh and Steven Powell even created a web page, with unflattering photos of Susan, asserting she ran off with a young man. I always thought the unflattering photos were just to get a thrill out of the pain and some sort of justification of their little secret...

  • #157
I would assume that LE has already searched where MR's phone pinged.

Me :floorlaugh: Just pointing out we dont know his cell habits. His records would certainly reflect his patterns. I just know many who aren't regular cell users. Myself included. I throw it in my purse if driving or travelling a distance alone. Shut off but there if i need it.

Good question. I wonder if his parents have been asked for samples? I do remember reading, weeks ago, about the work that the Colorado Bureau of investigation does (I think it was them) in regards to missing persons. After 30 days, they will look at missing persons found dead or alive in other jurisdictions to see if there is a match.

I just checked NAMUS and didn't see DR's name entered.
