I have been away from the computer a lot because of the Holidays, but I remember that you were collecting some data on non-custodials and their missing or murdered children?

Did that ever get posted? I am really interested in those cases.

La Plata County Search and Rescue members searched for Dylan Monday night in areas off County Road 500. Search and Rescue was pulled out before dark Tuesday. Bender said without the pressure from searchers, Dylan might be encouraged to go to a friend’s house for the night.
Residents have expressed an interest in assisting with the search. They are being asked to search their properties and areas of Vallecito they are familiar with, Bender said. Until four months ago, Dylan lived in Vallecito, so authorities have been notifying friends who live in the area.

Members of La Plata County Search & Rescue team using bloodhounds searched for the teen Monday night and Tuesday. The search area included the shoreline around Vallecito Lake, several small subdivisions, county roads, steep wooded hillsides and hiking trails. Many of the homes in the area are seasonal while some are occupied year around.***

Thanks, Ransom. I guess what seemed different to me about the last search with 200+ volunteers is that LE seemed more focused on searching for "items of interest" (not sure if that's the phrase they used) along the route to Vallecito. I don't recall reading anywhere that searchers were asked to flag possible evidence in the earlier searches involving volunteers. The focus seemed to be more on hoping to find Dylan hiding somewhere.

Katy, I just finished up a "preliminary" spreadsheet - I think I have 32 or 33 cases so far. I submitted to VASportsmom to forward to a mod and then if approved, she will post it on her document site and then provide a link for all. It is interesting, and it's only a START of what the #'s actually are. I was focusing mainly on kids over the age of 5 - with actually more emphasis on kids around 10-17 killed by a parent. I'm also mostly focusing on those cases that have a history of divorce/custody disputes/or just plain physical abuse. I have a LONG way to go for data, but it's a start for sure with all the specifics that I could find and links. Hopefully, we'll get it approved and up within the next few hours or tomorrow.

My experience with that area, they don't take kindly to outsiders. Banjo music indead. MOO

So they would notice a strange car or someone "out of place"? A kid walking down the road with his backpack and fishing pole?

Is it like the town I have lived in for 24 years - since I wasn't born here, I'm still an "outsider"?

Anyway, I agree with the principle of your quote, but wanted to say that they did indeed find Lacey and Connor's bodies. Connor had washed ashore a day or two prior to Lacey's body. Lacey's mom's tear filled TV remarks regarding Connor being placed in the casket on top of Lacey but her being unable to hold him because she had no arms was heartbreaking. Their bodies coming ashore prompted Scot's impromptu departure under cover of darkness. Thankfully LE kept him in their sight and once a positive ID came back on baby Connor, they placed Scot under arrest.

And what about Sunday night? Would any of the neighbors notice MR's truck coming or going?

BBM, good point! I do know that anyone can walk in my neighborhood and nobody would notice at all! Not because of a lack of anyone caring, it's because most of the windows to the street side are sitting rooms and bedrooms, all the living goes on in the other half of the house. My house looks dark half the time from the front because the kitchen, livingroom, diningroom, bedrooms and family room all have back/side yard windows.

And let's not forget the third notorious Mr Peterson, Micheal, whom the courts in my state have seen fit to grant a new trial. This in spite of two women in his wake, one his wife, who suffered fatal falls down a staircase. And guess who was the last to see either of these ladies alive?

Stay away from those Peterson boys.

I believe that the lack of crime is the reason LE waited so long to believe this was a crime.

I can't blame them.

I just can't help but think that maybe...if they would have suspected something other than just a kid running off for a few hours or days...this may have turned out differently than it has, so far.

Well and if you get into a super tight knit community that hates outsiders, guess what they also hate? THE LAW !!!! I wonder if they are the type that would say nope we didn't see anything, even if they had , to protect one of their neighbors. yuk
