Well ladies and gents, I'm out for the evening. Gonna watch the ball drop with my kiddos. Wishing Dylan could watch as well with his family...all of them. I just want to say I value the debate with most of you. My husband says I could argue with a tree stump, and he's right. I don't want to hurt feelings or be snarky, I just want to look at everything from all angles. I have told numerous people already, the day I become so jaded that I immediately hone in on one person and refuse to look at other scenarios is the day I really need to check myself. I already find myself looking in ditches and creeks for random bodies while on bike rides or while traveling over the holidays.

I wish each and every one of you a happy new year, and I pray every day for our lost and missing to come home where they belong.

between 7 & 8am on Nov 19th it was only 20-30 degrees outside
between 8 & 9am on Nov 19th it was only 30-40 degrees outside

it didn't even come close to reaching 50 degrees til 11am

and MR said Dylan did not have a coat

When the weather here gets down to 35-40F, I usually don't even wear a sweater. I have worn a jacket the last couple times I went outside (the low tonight is supposed to be -11, but it did get up to 15 this afternoon). When the high is -10 or colder and there is a wind, I'll usually wear a heavier coat, and sometimes even put on socks! It's all relative.

Dylan had asked his father whether he could go to his friends' that evening after they had shopped at Walmart and eaten at a McDonald's in Durango and before the 45-minute drive to Mark's home north of Vallecito Lake. Mark said he told his son it was too late. So Dylan texted friends in Bayfield, his father said, and made arrangements to meet them the next morning.

now we know Dylans flight arrived at 5.40pm and that he texted R about 6.45pm that he couldn't come that night.

now if you thought your child wouldn't get up early the next morning and you had errands you had to run why wouldn't you take him to the friends that night? 6.45pm is not late

This made me lol. You must be very tough skinned. I admire that ability. If it is under 50 degrees here then Im suited up like a skier.

This comment by Lt. Ray Shupe makes me wonder if it's possible that Dylan decided to hitchhike the day he disappeared.

One of the possibilities they are pursuing is the possibility that Dylan might have been picked up while hitchhiking, Shupe said.

It appears to me that LE was considering that possibility at some point. Do we know that LE has eliminated the possibility that Dylan was picked up while hitchhiking?

There is a lot of focus on why LE is not sharing information, here are some thoughts I have been having today:
1) If LE believes that there is a local person that took DR, why haven't they asked the public to watch for someone with changing behavior (like they did w/Ridgeway)
2) LE isn't going to tell us anything that is involved in the case, IMO that is the wisest move. They would ask for public assistance if that was needed, but not provide updates in general.
3) If they believe that DR is out of the area, perhaps by a stranger, why hasn't there been any news on strange vehicles? Request for public assistance for knowledge of any strangers in the area, house guest leaving suddenly, etc. There has been more than enough time to search video for any abnormal vehicle as well as check the alibi of any vehicle that has passed through.
4) I'm more concerned by what LE HASN'T said vs what little they have. I know that many say that ER hasn't been "cleared" but seriously, she was hundreds of miles away w/CR - common sense tells you that they have been cleared but still LE hasn't cleared them or MR.
5) Cooperating vs cooperating fully are real different.
6) LE has not allowed access to or the media hasn't requested a copy of the SW, why?
7) LE mentioned when the phone last was pinged, Sunday night, but have never said where, wouldn't that be significant for a search and if it wasn't significant then why mention it at all?
8) The fishing pole was only mentioned by MR, I don't recall LE ever mentioning it.

The silence is deafening. What they AREN'T telling us (IMO) is louder than what they ARE telling us.

Honestly I have little faith in this LE. They have done things a whole lot different than the larger police forces.

I wonder if we are dealing with Mayberry, USA type police force.

So far no press conference, no warnings like you get with an abduction.

Their silence tells me a lot. I think they got...nothing. I think MR pulled the wool over everybody's eyes.

I think everybody needs to put on their thinking caps and try to think of where MR could have taken Dylan. An elderly aunt, a granny in the woods or a good friend...another person like MR.

If MR and ER have been battling in court once a month for the last eight years...this would be the ultimate gotcha!

ETA ~ We still don't have any info. about McDonalds. I have read they went there lst & I have read 2nd. Which is closer to the airport McDonalds or Walmart? Would they have to back-track to one or the other before going home? For some reason, I have always felt this was important.:waitasec:
I am suspicious this maybe his way of explaining the phone, we arrived home at 8:00 & he fell right asleep. But they also tossed around the nerf. I can't recall what time Dylan went to bed Sunday night.

Nowadays I feel the heat dreadfully, so rarely wear a jumper on jacket and can often be found wearing shorts on cold days and still be feeling warm.

When I was younger I was always so hot-natured...I'd sleep half naked, with a fan blowing on me, with no cover, in the middle of winter. And, I used to live in Colorado & go snow-camping in the mountains all the time.

After I passed 50yoa if it's under 50 degrees outside, I'm bundled up like a polar bear with thermals, sweats, thick socks, a sweater, the heat cranked up to 75....and I'm still cold... (I'm in TX now.)

So his phone dies, inexplicably. He doesn't remember any numbers, even his mom's home number--so he cannot use the landline. He doesn't know the password to the computer so he can't reach anyone that way. And he doesnt think to try his i-pod to text anyone. And on top of that, he has no recollection of his conversation that morning with his dad. So he packs up everything, doesnt leave a note for his dad, and the first person he runs into [ and the only person to see him apparently] is a cunning kidnapper/killer?

IMO it's not inexplicable that an old, well used phone - due for replacement in a few weeks simply carks it (just for you mijamawi!) I like to give Dylan a little credit for not being so emotionally dependent on his phone that he would feel such desperation without it.
My kids and I are all very "tech savvy" and own an embarrassing number of phones, laptops and i-products. I am in the throes of "building" a computer from scratch for my son (following youtube Instructions of course!). When we lose power and connectivity here, I am the one who has palpitations about being "offline". The boys usually just say "meh" in disgust and go to bed. And when we are out, they are the ones who will point out and shake their heads when they see groups of people out to dinner - all independently glued to their phones rather than talking to each other. Most kids now are tech natives - they see all the gadgets for the tools that they are. They probably also know that no tech item has a very long life - they will have their old teddy from grandma for many years longer than any number of phones. It doesn't mean they all think it's the end of their world if the darn thing breaks. If Dylan's did, then he is likely to have thought "Thank God mum is getting me that new one I wanted!"

None in my family have ever explored or attempted to use a text app on our i-gadgets - my son asked why anyone would bother. Internet connection would be needed to set up and/or use that function, so even if Dylan thought of that, it may not have been an option. In my experience lousy phone reception can also mean bad wireless internet reception too.

Teens don't necessarily recall the conversations, and in particular any instructions or arrangements you have with them when they are fully awake - forget about half asleep. I'm not sure that leaving notes is widespread teen boy behaviour either ... what?... use a pen... and paper!?!? (attempting to mimic my sons - sorry)

Call me gullible or naive, but I really believe (or maybe it's hope) that if Dylan met with a "cunning kidnapper/killer" then surely it wasn't his own dad.

Since there has been a lot of discussion that the cell reception is so spotty at MR's, I wonder what area he was texting from when he successfully traded texts with ER before their meeting? Maybe he was in town where the reception was better...

While Mark Redwine hasn’t spoken to his ex-wife, they traded a few text messages Friday, he said.

I believe someone calculated about 20 min. (not sure) from airport to Walmart. We need to go back to the beginning & recheck traveling times. We don't know what he bought, but I bet it was as short 'n sweet as you can get lol. I can do 5 or 6 items & be out in 15 - 20 min. McDonalds has been printed as before & after. That's kind of a problem guestimating; if they ate in or while traveling. How hard is it to know if they ate first or second? He is so precise with the time, I am speculating he has been grilled hard about it (obviously) but on the other side if & Dylan was upset & they had words he may remember the time or where they were for that reason. I can't remember were the texts timed in the press?
