I have a quick question and mods please remove if inappropriate. Does anyone know why admin for the FMDR page (DH, I think) uses an alias of Katt something on that page? Probably totally unrelated but odd to me nonetheless.

KH + DH = same person
She did make a statement verifying this on FMDR FB page. I can't go far enough back on FB to provide link. :banghead:

I believe someone calculated about 20 min. (not sure) from airport to Walmart. We need to go back to the beginning & recheck traveling times. We don't know what he bought, but I bet it was as short 'n sweet as you can get lol. I can do 5 or 6 items & be out in 15 - 20 min. McDonalds has been printed as before & after. That's kind of a problem guestimating; if they ate in or while traveling. How hard is it to know if they ate first or second? He is so precise with the time, I am speculating he has been grilled hard about it (obviously) but on the other side if & Dylan was upset & they had words he may remember the time or where they were for that reason. I can't remember were the texts timed in the press?

Dylan's plane landed 5:47pm

it's 11 to 16 min from the airport to Walmart - MR said they were going there to buy groceries for the week

4 to 6 minutes to Mcdonald's - did they eat there or in the vehicle?

it's approx 1 hr 14 min from there to MR's home

When I was younger I was always so hot-natured...I'd sleep half naked, with a fan blowing on me, with no cover, in the middle of winter. And, I used to live in Colorado & go snow-camping in the mountains all the time.

After I passed 50yoa if it's under 50 degrees outside, I'm bundled up like a polar bear with thermals, sweats, thick socks, a sweater, the heat cranked up to 75....and I'm still cold...:) (I'm in TX now.)

Okkkay....where to begin then to figure out his timeline?

"Dylan had asked his father whether he could go to his friends' that evening after they had shopped at Walmart and eaten at a McDonald's in Durango and before the 45-minute drive to Mark's home north of Vallecito Lake. Mark said he told his son it was too late."

Traveling wise would you go to Walmart or is McDonalds closer to his home? I guess with 4 to 6 minutes it probably doesn't matter?

On Google maps it's 14.1 miles (21 minutes) from the Airport to Walmart.

It's 14.2 miles (22 minutes) from Airport to McDonalds.

So looks like Walmart is a little before McDonalds.

(If this helps)

Well, if you would just listen to my 87-year-old dad, you'd just get an Armstrong heater.....

We may never know what happened with the phone; but Dylan was away from his home, eager to see his old friends and I think it would have been a very big deal indeed if he lost use of it for any reason. I do not think it would have been a casual "oh well" situation at all. His texts were not casual-they were very specific and almost urgent, IMO.

I wonder if we will ever know what happened to Dylan. Surely, if so, it won't come via a confession out of the blue. I hate to think this case will remain in limbo, or even ultimately be tried as a circumstantial case where you still never really know. But I think it is highly possible.

Thanks, what do you get for a drive home time-wise? I know different different searches will show different times etc. Even though Dylan didn't have checked luggage it still takes time to get out of the airport, get the car...so extra time is needed as well to do that.

here's the list of texts

At 5:40 p.m., Dylan tells his friend that his plane has landed, and Ryan asks him how the flight went.

“Weired my head went numb from all the vibrations,” Dylan replies.

Soon after, they begin making arrangements to see each other. The texts, provided by Ryan, are unedited.

IMO it's not inexplicable that an old, well used phone - due for replacement in a few weeks simply carks it (just for you mijamawi!) I like to give Dylan a little credit for not being so emotionally dependent on his phone that he would feel such desperation without it.

Sure, when your boys are at their own home, losing a cell or breaking one is no biggie. But if they were on a court ordered visitation, alone, and they were totally dependent upon their cell to make their plans with friends, that is a whole different situation. imo

My kids and I are all very "tech savvy" and own an embarrassing number of phones, laptops and i-products. I am in the throes of "building" a computer from scratch for my son (following youtube Instructions of course!). When we lose power and connectivity here, I am the one who has palpitations about being "offline". The boys usually just say "meh" in disgust and go to bed. And when we are out, they are the ones who will point out and shake their heads when they see groups of people out to dinner - all independently glued to their phones rather than talking to each other. Most kids now are tech natives - they see all the gadgets for the tools that they are. They probably also know that no tech item has a very long life - they will have their old teddy from grandma for many years longer than any number of phones. It doesn't mean they all think it's the end of their world if the darn thing breaks. If Dylan's did, then he is likely to have thought "Thank God mum is getting me that new one I wanted!"

Not if Dylan was all alone at his father's with no way to communicate with his friends or family without a cell.

None in my family have ever explored or attempted to use a text app on our i-gadgets - my son asked why anyone would bother. Internet connection would be needed to set up and/or use that function, so even if Dylan thought of that, it may not have been an option. In my experience lousy phone reception can also mean bad wireless internet reception too.

MY DD used her i-pod to text when I used to take her cell away at bedtime. I was not aware she could text from it though. lol

Teens don't necessarily recall the conversations, and in particular any instructions or arrangements you have with them when they are fully awake - forget about half asleep. :) I'm not sure that leaving notes is widespread teen boy behaviour either ... what?... use a pen... and paper!?!? (attempting to mimic my sons - sorry)

BUt Dylan and his father had the conversation THE NIGHT BEFORE, when he was fully awake. He surely remembered his father telling him he would give him a ride to his friends.

Call me gullible or naive, but I really believe (or maybe it's hope) that if Dylan met with a "cunning kidnapper/killer" then surely it wasn't his own dad.

One would hope so, but we don't know that for sure. I would LOVE to believe that Dylan is safe and sound somewhere or that his father had nothing to do with this disappearance, but I just don't know that to be true.

Thanks. I missed that. I guess that's one of the problems with assuming things :blushing: - I just assumed it was 2 people because she sometimes signs one name and sometimes the other. My mistake, sorry.

See Link #651 above - please let me know if I inputted something in error. It was my first time doing it and hyperlinking it here. I'd like to know if I erred and/or how to fix it! TIA

I am not sure if you input anything wrong or not. I speak from personal knowledge. I live in Bayfield and grew up in Durango. I drive by both Walmart and Mcdonalde every day on my way to and from work.
