You wouldn't believe some of the things I've heard said about people by an ex, or soon to be ex. Some are true, some may be true, but many (and I sometimes think most) are extremely distorted versions of the truth. When asked directly if MR had EVER done anything to hurt Dylan, her response was something like, "Well no, but I don't think he knows him very well." That seems like a pretty big leap to me. MOO

Just wondering if you find it strange that MR has had no friends or neighbors or relatives speak up for him. I remember he was waiting for his brother to arrive when Dylan went missing because he said he was all alone.

Did he not have friends or neighbors or relatives that would support him?

Why not?

Just two ex wives that have told us...well you know!

I just don't find him the kind of fellow I would look forward to spending my Thanksgiving and Christmas with.

To me he is one strange bird.

This man took a swing at his 9 year old son for goodness sake.

Oh, and Mark was having sex with another woman on the lawn.

I'm not sure if it's TOS but he also has other charges - menacing, assault etc. some were dismissed, some stuck. so, yes, a history of violence.

You're saying that this is always done that way?

no. but if they had a stranger abduction, they would want people to know from where he went missing so they could help look and be aware. call in tips, etc.

If DR was self-possessed and well Monday morning, someone would have heard from him, cell service issues or not. If he had gone hitchhiking, if he had gone fishing. someone would have heard from him at some point after 8PM Sunday night.

I think ER like most of us was not used to being on national tv. I think she was taken aback by NG agressiveness and her rapid firing questions.

I am sure there were things she wanted to say but couldn't say. And things she did say that she would like to take back.

ER was in a real trick bag there.

Honestly I believe this is the way both of Dylans parents want things done.

I have thought about this quite a bit. Neither are making statements, calling press conferences or appearing on national tv. Both are maintaining a low profile.

For some reason this is their way of handling their sons disappearance.

Yes. Mark is trying to get flyers on trucks, and Elaine is doing posts on the facebook. That's as much as they can do right now.

D Hess has really stepped up with that facebook page. New Years Eve she started a 'buzz' on there to try to get the likes to 7,000. She surpassed it.

I imagine the holidays were numbing to Dylan's family, and depressing for everyone who knows him. That makes it hard to do anything big.

I agree and I can't think of anything worse than a father who has lost his son and has no friends or family to support him or be with him at this time. I can't imagine that he is sitting in his home all alone with all this going on. It has to be torture of unmeasureable pain. I hope that he has the strength to endure this. I just think it is awful. jmo

The football story came out after much was being made of MR's retelling of the events ending as abruptly as Dylan's texting did that evening and then picking back up the next morning. I think the football was just used to fill in that gap a little. If he said Dylan was watching tv when I went to bed then there would have been questions about what was he watching, etc. If he said Dylan was playing on the computer, that too would have led to follow up questions and the risk of getting tripped up by the details but what is there to say about tossing a football around? We can speculate that it was too cold or too dark or that it isn't wise to play ball indoors but all of those things happen anyway. As far as cover stories go it is actually a decent one.

I'm pages behind here - sorry if this subject been done to death in the pages I haven't read yet. But regarding 'the football story' ... the only mention I have seen of the nerf football was not something directly stated by MR. It was a sentence the studio news reader tacked on to the end of a story about the search of MR's home - the sweat pants, an ipod and a nerf football thrown around the night before Dylan went missing were among the items taken from the house. My paraphrasing there as of course I can't find the link.
Has anyone found any other quotes from LE, MR or MSM that discuss the nerf football?

Lets see IMO there is a clear pattern that emerges that Elaine had moved forward in her life(and in her sons life)... IMO its clear that she had moved on with her life away from the years of what IMO is abuse and dysfunction with MR.. where does this come from?

IMO she moved forward into what IMO is a more stable home life for her and the boys(early on it was stated on the FB that her fiance had been their rock through this nightmare(her and Cory).. this IMO leads me to believe that this man was not only important to Elaine, but also her sons as well. IMO it is forward movement that she, MH and her sons had moved to Colorado city where the courts had agreed and found that move to be in Dylan's best interest when MR attempted to prohibit Dylan moving, the courts replied with awarding Elaine the primary custody..

Elaine IMO had made forward, positive movement for her sons and herself.. I personally believe that Elaine having a stable job that she enjoyed, having moved her and the boys(with the courts agreeing the move was in the best interest of Dylan), along with being in a relationship with a man that she not only cared for, but who also lived with her and her sons thus being an integral part of the life of her and her sons..as well as he has been a source of support throughout this present nightmare..MOO I believe this to be forward positive movement for this family.jmo.

Its clearly jmo and am fully aware there are some whose opinions are different. I am perfectly fine with that, but for me the above described IMO is positive forward movement for Elaine and her sons.. For me personally I find that to be of significant weight and importance, jmo, tho. Others viewing the above as something other than positive movement made for this family unit, or that these issues are irrelevant does not in any way negate or dissuade my opinion on the matter.. To each their own.

Not only do I not think it strange, I also don't think it's true. Since discussions didn't happen on approved sites (or any other web site), I'll just leave it at that. MOO

I agree. and if they thought it was a stranger abduction, it would matter where DR went missing from and they would tell the public. we would know if he ever made it to MR's house Sunday night or not. IF it were a stranger abduction - including a hitch-hiking went wrong.

BBM: If a hitch-hiking went wrong, seems like the first person who happened upon Dylan would have to be the abductor. Otherwise you would have reports from other motorists that they saw him hitchhiking. In the Morgan Harrington case, IIRC, their were multiple witnesses to her hitchhiking, although none to her actual abduction.
